Introduction What is MSAJ?
The Malaysian Students’ Association in Japan (MSAJ) was established in 1976 with the
primary objectives of unifying and caring for the welfare of Malaysian students in Japan. We
welcome all Malaysian students who are studying or taking courses that are longer than 6
months be joining us as a member.
Kanto, Kansai, Tohoku, Hokuriku and Kyuma (Kyushu) are the five MSAJ divisions
executing the objectives of the association at the respective prefectures. Malaysian students
studying in Japan manage MSAJ on a voluntary basis. MSAJ is the main official student
association that represents all the students in Japan with the Embassy of Malaysia as our
advisor.
Annual Events MSAJ organizes various events and activities all year round. The year started with spring
when we supported the orientation and reception of new students from late March till early
April, Hanami (cherry-blossom viewing) in April and Career Fair in May. During summer, we hold
events like MSAJ Amazing Race, small activities like Hari Raya BBQ Gathering, Hari Sukan
Malaysia and celebrate Malaysia’s Independence Day. Besides that, we organize e-sport to have
fun together and meanwhile to deepen ties between Malaysians from different regions of Japan
by working as a team. In winter, we usually hold the Malaysian Night event as MSAJ’s grand
finale by inviting the public to learn more about Malaysia besides gathering fellow Malaysian
students, get ourselves entertained and end of the year with a bang!
As Malaysia being a part of ASEAN country, we also involve ourselves in the ASEAN
Festival that is usually conducted in October. This event is organized by ASEAN Youth Network in
Japan (AYNJ) that aims to build a strong network among ASEAN student associations in Japan.
We also participate in AYNJ Sports Festival. Furthermore, we serve the community by
volunteering to organize Yokohama Brother & Sister, a culture exchange activity, communicating
using English with Japanese high school students. We also collaborate with other student
association to organize Homeless Project, to spread love and warmth by giving foods to the
homeless.
Hanami(花見) – Cherry Blossom Viewing in April 2017 (Collaborated with Kelab UMNO Luar Jepun
KULN Tokyo and MJHEP).

MSAJ Career Fair Objective The objectives of MSAJ Career Fair are such as below:
• To support Malaysian students in Japan in seeking employment opportunities.
• To widen students’ exposure to the corporate sector.
MSAJ Career Fair is an important source of revenue for MSAJ to cover our yearly expenses
for activities/events, as we are not receiving financial support from any parties. Therefore,
we hope companies will understand that the income generated through this event is solely
for the purposes of covering our expenses and improving our services to fellow Malaysian
students living in Japan.

Conclusions
This year, a total of 158 students attended our MSAJ Career Fair 2017. There is an
increase of number of student this year due to our career fair was held on Japan Public holiday
which known as Golden Week. This eases those students who travel from far regions to attend.
Yet some company may find it hard to send their workers due to Public Holiday. The majority of
the students are science stream students majoring in engineering courses. In addition, we
received much compliment for providing visiting cards to career fair participants. It smoothened
the process for both companies and students. We also received comments that the venue so
better compared to last year. It was convenient since the interview booths are near to the
company main visiting booths.
The following is the reason regarding the number of participants this year:
• Lack of event promoting before events. Students did not get enough information of
companies participated beforehand.
• Lack of variety of companies in different fields.
• Lack of promoting general position that is suitable to all students regardless any field
they are pursuing, especially to the non-science stream students.
In response to the feedback from companies and students, the following countermeasures are
being considered:
• Provide a larger venue that companies can have their interview sessions and booth
together.
• Look for a more appropriate date to both Student and Companies.
• Widen the variety of companies.
• Widen the variety of job offering positions.
• Companies that provide job that involve in both Malaysia and Japan.
• Open Career Fair to all ages but not only 4th year students (eg: Provide Internship
opportunity).
• Make sure students prepare their own properly written resume/CV.
Overall, both companies and students are satisfied with the career fair this year and are
anticipating a better career fair next year. To meet this expectation, MSAJ is open to and
welcomes any suggestions. Therefore, please kindly contact our Career Fair PR Team at
[email protected] with your much-appreciated constructive ideas.
Thank you, for trusting us to be your platform in recruiting and job hunting. We
appreciate your kind expressions of appreciation, and are especially grateful for those who travel
from region and workers who spend their precious time with us. We will always treasure the
experienced gained.
