the Alegro Alfragide just outside Lisbon was designed
as an extension of an existing hypermarket that was fast
approaching its sell-by date. two underground car parking
levels and three floors of mall were added to the refurbished
hypermarket to create a state of the art shopping centre.
the hypermarket was kept fully functional during the whole
of the complex demolition of a part of the existing building
and the construction of the extension.

the Dolce Vita shopping mall in Funchal, Madeira, was
designed to fit into a new mixed use complex in the centre
of the city. The mall occupies the lower three floors of
the complex and is characterised by a large square at
its centre. the triple height volume is covered by a multi-
coloured glass canopy sustained by a free standing steel
tree. The colours of the glass canopy are reflected on the
all white surfaces of the mall and travel around these with
the movement of the sun during the day. highly polished
aluminium panels clad the circular columns that reflect not
only the decorative lighting but also other coloured surfaces
and the movement of people around the mall. two Venturi
chimney stacks allow for the natural ventilation of the mall.

the Dolce Vita shopping mall in Braga in northern Portugal
was designed as a new generation mall using state of the
art technologies to enhance the visitor experience. Large
internal public areas and generous roof level gardens with
activity centres and stunning views of the surroundings
would provide an alternative experience to the closed box
mall. A central circular piazza at the centre of the mall,
thirty seven metres high will provide a dramatic visual
and physical link to the various floors of the mall. The two
halves of the complex also interlock at this central point
and their curvilinear plans and resultant volumes clad in
multi-coloured metal panels provide an intriguing visual play
of colours and disappearing surfaces.

the Africa Mall was designed for a new mixed use
development area of the city of Luanda in Angola. the very
marked African theme to its architecture was designed to
give it a local identity. A major African art museum would
be attached to the mall and is represented by the Dugon
turret at the front. the entrance to the mall is marked by
a full height atrium, fully glazed on two sides and with a
mirrored ceiling supported by asymmetric BAOBAB
structural trees in steel.

the continente shopping mall is one of a series of small shopping centres to be built in around the city of Luanda. It is designed to have two stages of development. The first of which will be the construction of the hypermarket and a large surface car park. the second stage will be the addition of the shopping mall to the hypermarket and the replacing of the surface car parking with a multi level silo over the hypermarket. Using African references to colour and textures and applying state of the art construction techniques, a very contemporary architecture is achieved.

Located at the Southern end of calea Vacaresti in Bucharest, this fifteen storey building is divided into two independent office towers connected by a central atrium. Its exterior finishing was conceived in both transparent and opaque coloured glass panels, continues on the large main entrance canopy from exterior to interior. this main structure is supported by metallic trees that populate the whole entrance area. the main atrium takes us through to the lifts and onto the top floors. Theses buildings are prepared to have around 850 parking places between their underground levels and exterior parking too.

This office complex was a first proposal for a large mixed development in talatona , Luanda. Its striking architecture incorporates an energy saving brise-soleil outer skin and deep wrap-around verandas. the geometric patterns of the outer skin structure provides a very distinct African quality to the whole.

The new B.I.G. Bank Headquarters is located on the Avenida 24 Julho. the project involved partial demolition of existing faades and the total demolition of the interior of existing buildings and subsequently the construction of a new building within. The interiors designed to provide maximum flexibility of space, optimum working conditions which include a provision of large terraces facing the river.

Small shops and aHealth club will be distributed along the ground floors.The building plan shapes derive from those of local fishingand recreational boats and are set out in the way that boatsare left on the beach after a good days work. this allows thebuildings to have maximum exposure to the unique views.
