Welcome
MiTS-Drainage software enables you to design, analyse and check the drainage
network system for all types of development projects.
The software can be used for simple housing project to complex commercial-
residential township development. MiTS-Drainage software is written based on the
Urban Stormwater Management Manual for Malaysia (MSMA) standards and
guidelines. The application of MSMA is simplified and MiTS-Drainage software has
exploited part of the code of flow and at the same time enhanced the user
interface to result a more powerful and effective program. The software also
comes with drawing import/export capability (DWG and DXF).
This user manual outlines the main features of MiTS-Drainage that users would
generally use. Users will learn how to create a drainage network system for a
development project in order to check the flow, drain capacity and gradient.
If you are holding a printed copy now, do check for a softcopy supplied with the
software
CD which may have updates subsequent to the printing of this
manual.
Design Manual
Design Manual can be select in Option tab, users can select type of design manual,
either MSMA 1st Edition or MSMA 2
nd Edition.
Chapter 1 Importing CAD Drawing
1.1 CAD Drawing
MiTS-Drainage can generate a drainage network system directly in an imported CAD Drawing.
1.2 CAD Drawing Import
Click the “Load” button at the right tab.
Select and open the CAD drawing file.
CAD drawing is imported.
1.3 Prior Requirements for Import The CAD drawing must be in full scale (1:1) in order to generate the drainage network system.
1.4 Alternative of CAD Drawing Import CAD drawing will be automatically imported to MiTS-Drainage if the project is continued from MiTS-Road or MiTS-Earthwork.
Chapter 2 Creating Drainage Network System With “Node”, “Drain” and “Catchment” buttons, a drainage network system can be
easily created in the CAD Drawing.
2.1. Node Input the node in the drawing by clicking the “Node” button.
To input the node, users have to click once on the MiTS-Drainage screen. Then, users
can start locate the nodes in the drawing.
Note: Object Snapping Object snapping can be called out either by Ctrl + right-mouse click, or clicking the
‘Snap’ button.
2.2. Drain Input the drain to the drawing by clicking the “Drain” button.
To input drains, users have to connect one node to another. Click on the screen while
drawing drain will also generate node.
To model a drain without node, users have to click on “SHIFT + left click mouse”.
Features of Drain
Click on the drain and right click to open the features list.
1. Add Parallel Drain
- To add parallel drain from selected drain. Existing drain can be offset using this
feature.
2. Extend Drain
- To extend the length of a drain without changing the axis of the drain.
3. Map Node to Drain
- To connect a drain from a node to the selected drain.
2.3. Catchment
Input the catchment area to the drawing by clicking the “Catchment” button.
To input catchment, users have to draw a close polygon and assign it to the
particular drain.
Chapter 3 Inputting Node Properties Node properties can be inputted in the Misc tab or Spread Input. Users have to
select “Node” before input the node properties.
3.1. MISC Users can input the node properties in the Misc tab by selecting the particular node.
3.2. Spread Input It is easier for users to input the node properties by clicking the “Spread Input”
Chapter 4 Inputting Drain Properties Drain properties can be inputted in the Misc tab or Spread Input. Users have to
select
“Drain” before inputting the drain properties.
4.1. MISC Users can input the drain properties in the Misc tab by selecting the particular drain.
4.2. Spread Input It is easier for users to input the drain properties by clicking the “Spread Input”
4.3. Drain Type and Dimension Select the drain type by clicking the drop down list in Drain Type column.
Call out the parameter dialog box by clicking the small box in Dimension.
Changes can be made for the drain dimension in the parameter dialog box.
Chapter 5 Inputting Catchment Catchment properties can be inputted in the Misc tab or Spread Input. Users have
to select “Catchment” before inputting the catchment properties.
5.1. MISC Users can input the catchment properties in the Misc tab by selecting the particular catchment.
5.2. Spread Input It is easier for users to input the catchment properties by clicking the “Spread Input”
Chapter 6 Calculating and Checking Drainage Flow Click “Analyse” button to calculate and check the drainage flow.
6.1. Summary of calculation report
6.1.1. Longitudinal Section
Click the “Long Section” button to generate longitudinal sections for the drainage network system.
6.1.2. Hydraulic Table Hydraulic table is generated.
6.1.3. Textual Report Detailed textual report is shown.
6.1.4. Quantity Survey Quantity survey data is shown.
6.2. Optimum Drain Size Design Users can allow the program to determine the optimum drain size for the drainage network system of the project. Iteration of drain size will be done and the optimum drain size will be selected by the program.
Users can allow the iteration for drain and gradient by selecting “Yes” at the
particular drain in Drain Properties.
Chapter 7 Result Export and Batch Export 7.1. Export The Longitudinal Section, Hydraulic Table, Textual Report, Quantity Survey, and Key
Plan Output can be exported to different format by clicking “Export” button.
7.2. Batch Export
All the results can be exported at once by clicking “Batch Export” button.
Select the result to export and press OK.
