‘’ I SAY WHAT I HOPE I DO WHAT I CAN’’

12
The new citizen
• He lost trust in “experts” • Believes in his own authority
but = realistic • Uses his own mental kompass • Creates his own circles of trust
13
His usage of social media is a fact

Bedrijven, vrienden, opinieleiders, organisaties, media,collega’s
19
Robert Cialdini spent three years going "undercover" applying for jobs and training at used car dealerships, fund-raising organizations, telemarketing firms
to observe real-life situations of persuasion. ..
The consumer has the power … sure ☺
Reciprocity - People tend to return a favor. thus proving the pervasiveness of e.g. free samples in marketing.
Commitment and Consistency If people commit, orally or in writing, to an idea or goal, they are more
likely to honor that commitment, even if the original incentive is removed
Social Proof People will do things that they see other people are doing.
Authority People will tend to obey authority figures
Even if they are asked to perform objectionable acts
Liking People are easily persuaded by other people that they like.
Scarcity Perceived scarcity will generate demand.
About rats
• participants in a café savingcard/stamp program purchase coffee more frequently the closer they are to earning a free coffee;
• Internet users who rate songs in return for reward certificates visit the rating Web site more often, rate more songs per visit, and persist longer in the rating effort as they approach the reward goal
• The illusion of progress toward the goal induces purchase acceleration (e.g., customers who receive a 12-stamp coffee card with 2 preexisting “bonus” stamps complete the 10 required purchases faster than customers who receive a “regular” 10-stamp card); (4) a stronger tendency to accelerate toward the goal predicts greater retention and faster reengagement in the program.

Loyalty is not equal to loyalty programs
25
Loyalty Myth- Rich on paper…
26
Fact = High Churn rates
27
Death of loyalty?
• Loyalty today is predominantly passive • Companies mistake passive loyalty with active loyalty • Do we need better ways to manage loyalty and where can we
find them?
28
Deel I.3 : Hey stupid. Het gaat om penetratie , niet om Loyalty.
29
Learnings: andrew Ehrenberg on loyalty
30
Andrew Ehrenberg bestudeerde Loyalty.
Learnings: Andrew Ehrenberg on loyalty
31
Central to all this is the notion of double jeopardy ( meer klanten die frequenter kopen/ minder klanten die minder frequent kopen) which holds that a smaller brand in market-share terms suffers from the additional slap of having less customer loyalty.
Return business is a function, essentially, of how popular a brand is. As such a marketing organization's mission should be to increase market penetration at all costs."Popularity trumps everything,”
Growth isn't about squeezing more money out of the most loyal consumers but trying to grab new ones.
That renders CRM less important and puts a focus on an old-school definition of advertising that is consistent, frequent and mass, wears the advertised brand on its sleeve, and bashes the consumer with old saws like taglines, logos and celebrities.
Learnings: Andrew Ehrenberg on loyalty
32
Side comment
Ehrenberg over Facebook likes

crisissen – Pro-active communicatie – Gemotiveerd personeel with a mission
• Fighting the big banks

Deel III.E : Ambassadeurs maken.
110
Bron DM Plaza
• « Patrick Collister » When a brand knows who its true fans are, it can set about turning them into brand ambassadors. The tricky part is in finding out who those fans are and kicking off a conversation with them. This campaign seems to be the first part of a long-term engagement strategy, which will lead to a deeper relationship with Foster’s loyalists who will become more vocal in social media on behalf of the brand.
112
Bron:DM Plaza
