Summary. The German proverbs can justify opposite points of view.
If it is necessary, the people select a proverb that confirms a
particular point of view and ignores the antinomy. The first reason
of this phenomenon is human psychology because people need to feel
confident and pro- tected. The second reason is knowledge of
opposites; experience improves that the situation can develop in
two opposite ways.

She would be an exquisite skeleton, and her skull would be an

sharp-edged fragments (Lawrence D., 2002: 192).

Summary. The study is dedicated to the semantic deviation of
figurative comparisons in the English-language literary text. Frame
analysis of such expressions allows to reveal the deep lay- ers of
textual information, while the author notes the difficulty of
determining the initial frame of the interpretation of figurative
comparisons.
Key words: cognitive structures, stable image, literary text, frame
semantics.

differences in stereotype ideas presented by phraseological units
in Russian and Swedish language pictures of the world.
Key words: cognitive-pragmatic potential, comparative idioms,
sustainable comparison, Russian language, Swedish language,

Summary. The article deals with cognitive-pragmatic registers of
epistolary phraseology.
It is revealed that they characterize that volume and character of
information which is translated by means of phraseological units.
Epistolary phraseology provides cohesion of the emotional-
figurative background of the discursive space, objectifies a
fragment of the conceptual sphere of the author of the
letter.
Key words: epistolary phraseology, cognitive-pragmatic registers,
comparison, analysis, letters, semantics.

Summary. In the article phraseological units of three groups are
considered: coinciding on the translation and value, not coinciding
in translation and the values which are absent in lan- guage
because there is no cultural association.
All French phraseological units can conditionally be divided into
two big lexical culturologi- cal groups: the calling gastronomic
concepts or concepts connected with fashion and accessories.
Key words: phraseological units, translation, gastronomic concepts,
concepts of fashion and accessories.

p. Summary. The article discusses cognitive-pragmatic registers of
biblical expressions in
the literary text. These registers represent a system of values
that is motivated by historical factors and demonstrates the
cognitive-cultural status of the addressee who is able to actualize
linguistic and extralinguistic information when he or she perceives
the literary text.
Key words: biblical expressions, cognitive-pragmatic analysis,
interpretation, precedent text, implicit semantics.

semantics. The value-semantic content of the proverb is interpreted
in the course of revealing the generalized meaning, pragmatic
significance and cognitive basis of the proverb’s semantics.

Summary. The article deals with the problem of the world
phraseological picture as a lin-
guistic phenomenon of the national and cultural development. It is
possible to represent the ethnic and cultural characteristics of
the linguistic world picture and create a holistic image of the
ethnos reality, using the example of the French world
phraseological picture which acts as a means of the connection
between the world picture and any language, as a part of a global
world picture, a stere- otype of a certain people behavior.
Key words: phraseological picture of the world, national and
cultural development, French phraseology, translation, lexical
semantics.

Summary. The paper deals with the analysis of Russian and Slovak
idioms about richness and poverty. We aim to identify identical or
similar phraseological units as well as unique, nation- al-specific
phraseological units. Our analysis showed that the phraseological
units as a whole are comparable. The field of richness intersects
with an important position in society, strength and power.
Key words: Russian and Slovak idioms, national specifics of idioms,
phraseological ety- mology.

.. « ». Truth lies at the bottom of a well (Truth is hard to find).
He impairs his vision by holding the object too close. He might
see, perhaps, one or
two points with unusual clearness, but in so doing he necessarily
lost sight of the matter as a whole. Thus there is such thing as
being too profound. Truth is not always in a well. In fact, as
regards the whole important knowledge, I do believe that she is
invari- ably superficial (Poe).

Summary. The paper deals with interpretation of semantics and
pragmatics of proverbs
revealing proverbial concept of Truth in Russian and English
paremic discourse. The extended ap- paratus of role-and-reference
grammar helps to bring out thematic roles the name of concept plays
in semantic structure of proverbial sentence-utterance and thus
reveal conceptual features of Truth in Russian and English
linguistic culture.
Key words: proverbial concept, discourse, qualitative, pragmatics
of proverbs.

Summary. The article provides a cognitive analysis of
phraseological units that verbalize the conceptual sphere «Human
activity». The structure of the macromodel is represented by so-
matic, zoomorphic and artifact donor zones, reflecting various
aspects of human activity and con-
71
firming the anthropocentric nature of phraseology. The research is
conducted on the material of the Russian and Ukrainian
languages.
Key words: concept sphere, phraseological representation, cognitive
aspect, donor zone, Ukrainian language, comparison, semantic
motivation.
