Heinz Beck: Three Michelin Star Experience, Sydney, 28 November 2012 – 29 November 2012

Three Michelin star European chef Heinz Beck is hosting a series of exclusive dinners at Caffe Sicilia

in Surry Hills during his first ever visit to Sydney.

A godfather of Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, Chef Beck holds more Michelin stars than any other

chef in the world representing Italian cuisine. He is most renowned for his Three Michelin Star

restaurant La Pergola in the Hotel Cavalieri in Rome, alongside One Michelin Star restaurants

Apsleys: A Heinz Beck Restaurant in London and Cafe Les Paillotes in Pescara, Italy.

Chef Beck will be collaborating with the Caffe Sicilia team to cook an 8-course dinner of his Three

be added permanently to Caffe Sicilia’s menu as a legacy of his culinary brilliance.

Caffe Sicilia is proud to be a part of this one-of-a-kind opportunity for diners to experience the Three

Michelin Star chef’s gastronomic excellence on a night that is sure to be memorable.

The health benefits of quinoa are endless and it tastesdelicious with the right accompaniments. Here aresome facts you may not know about it. It is high in

protein, is gluten free, needs washing before cooking, it comes in different colours red, black and white, itcomes in different forms such as puffed, whole or rolled into flakes and you can eat its leaves!

Heinz Beck, 3 Michelin Star Chef from La Pergola, Italy

We are delighted and honoured to have 3 Michelin StarChef Heinz Beck as a guest chef. He answered a fewquestions we had on lunch and his responses are verymuch inline with Mum's Lunch philosophy.

1. What would be a good example of a schoollunch when you growing up?

Every day make sure they have different types of foodswith a focus on fresh fruits and vegetables. Of course

kids need to grow up healthy they need carbohydrate and proteins as well. It is important that the schoollunches are well balanced and not the same every day with the focus on portion control. A girl should noteat much more than 1200 calories a day and a male 1400.

2. What do you believe a balanced lunchbox should look like?

A balanced lunchbox should never miss a combination of fruit and vegetables.

3. Do you feel today the importance of the lunch meal is overlooked?

Yes I do … today people are not giving enough importance to lunch as they are on the run and way to busy to stop for lunch. Missing lunch is not an option as you can snack on various nuts, fruit, carrot stickseven a piece of cheese on the run which is still better than nothing at all.

4. Who would your top 5 guests be for you dine with at lunch?

Alfresco lunch with the following five guests would be a conversational journey with the following, PopeBenedict XVI as he was born 12 kilometres from my home town, Nicole Kidman, Andrea Bocelli, Al Pacinoand Sophia Loren.

6. What do the children in Italy today eat for a typical lunch?

The last couple of years the government has done a lot to improve the quality of the school lunches forchildren and their eating habits and try and stay within the 1200 to 1400 calorie per day cap. “OURCHILDREN MUST EAT HEALTHY!”
