ZONAL LEVEL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP – UNIVERSITY OF MUMBAI The College was nominated by the University of Mumbai to host and conduct the Inter-Collegiate Zonal Level Chess Championship, 2013 between 6-8 August. The College was the venue for Zone I – Colleges between Churchgate and Bandra and Zone II – Colleges between Matunga and Palghar. 

 

                   

    

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT - NSS A S. Y. B. Com. student named Ms. Sunita was a part of the NSS Unit of the University of Mumbai which was awarded the First prize in a Training Camp related to Disaster Management held at Nanded between June 2-10, 2013. Seen in the photograph is the student holding her Participation Certificate. 

               

MEDIA COVERAGE Students of our College were selected for a creative event of face painting and the media visited our campus on the occassion of the 66th Independence Day to cover the same. The faces painted with patriotic themes as photos have appeared in the Hindustan Times, Mid Day and a local Marathi Newspaper. 

             

 

        

PLACEMENT The topper of BMS batch (2010-2013), was placed at Reliance Life Insurance Company with the help of a teacher. A database of students who have passed the B. Com. program in this academic year has been created and efforts are on to place them. Companies like Achievo Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Planet Health and ICICI Bank have visited campus in the past three months and conducted interviews for placing the students. 

     

   PLACEMENT MEET A Placement meet for the passed out 2012- 2013 batch of B. Com. was held on June 18, 2013 to understand the future plans of the students - further studies or looking out for a job. If they plan to work, then in which field. We had offers from 2 companies for around 5 positions, this was accordingly communicated to the students at the meet.

CAMPUS INTERVIEWS Campus interviews were conducted on June 22 and June 26, 2013 for the passed out B. Com. students. Companies visited campus for varied positions, like, Software Implementation Expert, Front Office Execuive and Executive Assistant

ORIENTATION PROGRAMS Orientation programs were organized by the College for the third year students on June 20, 2013, for the second year students on June 24, 2013 and for the first year students on July 9, 2013. In this program students are informed about all the activities that will be conducted during the academic year; various facilities available to them, co-curricular and extra-curriculars; the general rules and regulations and the code of conduct expected from them. 

FELICITATION PROGRAM The toppers of the College at the University Exams for the B. Com., BMS and the BBI programs were felicitated with Merit Certificates and cash prizes on July 19, 2013. The juniors were invited to this event so as to motivate them to perform even better in their exams. 

 

           

CAREER GUIDANCE The college feels responsible towards guiding the students to help them take the right decisions in their career. Attempts are made to have seminars and lectures by institutions like: Institute of Company Secretary, Academy of Financial Planning and Aptech (Arena). In addition to this, the College in this academic year assigned a professional institution to conduct Psychometric Test for the students, which was followed by Career Counselling sessions depending on the student’s test results. 

 

 

CULTURAL WEEK The Cultural committee of the college consisting of teachers conduct a talent search through various intra-collegiate competitions. These students are further trained and groomed to participate in inter-collegiate competitions. The cultural week was organized between July 22-26, 2013, and the events as shown in the adjacent table were held. Participation in each of the event was in good number and it helped the students break the ice and mingle with each other. It also helped bring out the latent talent in students.

NATURE TRIP A nature trip was organized on August 17, 2013, by the College to Keshav Shrusti at Uttan, Bhayander (West) as a part of the EVS education imparted to B. Com. students. Lectures on medicinal herbs grown there and recycling of paper were heard by the students before they enjoyed the flora and fauna of the place. Around 100 students were taken on the trip.

 

           

INDUSTRIAL VISIT The first year, second year and third year BMS students were taken on August 19, 2013, to Igatpuri to visit the industries in that area. Companies like Parle Food Industries, Patel Industry (manufacturer of wires for electric appliances) and Mech-well Industries (manufacturer of spare parts for planes, boilers for industrial use etc) were visited and students learnt a lot about the operations of the industries.

 

           

FORMATION OF STUDENT COUNCIL On July 10, 2013, meeting and polling was conducted to constitute the important representative Student body which is the Student Council – consisting of CRs and the GS - assisted by Assistant GS General Secretary Ranjeet Shah Assistant General Secretary

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM An institution specialized in corporate training & development and students’ personality development, was designated to conduct an Empowerment program for the teachers of the Patuck Trust, (degree college in full strength) on August 16, 2013. Dr. Mittal a well known trainer and Psychologist was the resource person and the topics covered were managing stress through work-life balance, developing personality of students and empowering oneself.

66th INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION This August 15, 2013, India celebrated its 66th year of Independence and our College was a part of it. All the teaching and non-teaching staff members gathered in the College auditorium on the day and after the Flag hoisting ceremony, there were student perfomances (depicting patriotism), of all sections of our Institution. 

 

           

PARENTS – TEACHERS ASSOCIATION (PTA) On August 15, 2013, a PTA Meet was held. The objective was to get first hand feedback from the parents on what needs to be improved in the college. What is expected of students was also comunicated to the parents accordingly. The Management of the College felt it very imperative to meet the parents and find out their perception of the education process of the College and as August 15 is a national holiday, we could expect a maximum number of parents to attend the Meet. The Meet was successful and fruitful.
