Sorting out the laundry
Before loading the laundry
Removing stains
Blood:
Oil based paint:
Dried grease stains:
Rust:
Mould stains:
Grass:
Ball point pen and glue:
Lipstick:
Red wine:
Follow the wash code symbols on each garment label
and the manufacturers washing instructions. Sort thelaundry as follows: whites, coloureds, synthetics, delicates, woollens.
Never wash whites and coloureds together. Whitesmay lose their whiteness in the wash.New coloured items may run in the first wash; theyshould therefore be washed separately the first time.Button up pillowcases, close zip fasteners, hooks andpoppers. Tie any belts or long tapes.
Remove persistent stains before washing.Rub particularly soiled areas with a special detergentor detergent paste.Treat curtains with special care. Remove hooks or tiethem up in a bag or net.
Stubborn stains may not be removed by just waterand detergent. It is therefore advisable to treat themprior to washing.
treat fresh stains with cold water. For driedstains, soak overnight in water with a specialdetergent then rub in the soap and water.
moisten with benzine stain remover, lay the garment on a soft cloth and dab the stain;treat several times.
moisten with turpentine, lay thegarment on a soft surface and dab the stain with thefingertips and a cotton cloth.
oxalic acid dissolved in hot water or a rustremoving product used cold. Be careful with ruststains which are not recent since the cellulose
structure will already have been damaged and thefabric tends to hole.
treat with bleach, rinse well (whitesand fast coloureds only).
soap lightly and treat with bleach (whites andfast coloureds only).
moisten with acetone*, laythe garment on a soft cloth and dab the stain.
moisten with acetone as above, then treatstains with methylated spirits. Treat any residual
marks with bleach.soak in water and detergent, rinse and
treat with acetic or citric acid, then rinse. Treat anyresidual marks with bleach.
Ink:
Tar stains:
Detergents and additives
Quantity of detergent to be used
depending on the type of ink, moisten the fabricfirst with acetone*, then with acetic acid; treat any
residual marks on white fabrics with bleach and thenrinse thoroughly.
first treat with stain remover, methylatedspirits or benzine, then rub with detergent paste.
Good washing results also depend on the choice ofdetergent and use of the correct quantities to avoidwaste and protect the environment.Although biodegradable, detergents containsubstances which, in large quantities, can upset the
delicate balance of nature. The choice of detergent will depend on the type offabric (delicates, woollens, cottons, etc.), the colour, washing temperature and degree of soiling. All commonly available washing machine detergentsmay be used in this appliance:powder detergents for all types of fabricpowder detergents for delicate fabrics (60C max)and woollensliquid detergents, preferably for low temperaturewash programmes (60C max) for all types of fabric,or special for woollens only. The detergent and any additives must be placed inthe appropriate compartments of the dispenserdrawer before starting the wash programme. If using liquid detergents, a programme withoutprewash must be selected.Your appliance incorporates a recirculation systemwhich allows an optimal use of the concentrateddetergent.Follow the product manufacturers recommendations
on quantities to use and do not exceed the MAXmark in the detergent dispenser drawer.
The type and quantity of detergen t will dependon the type of fabr ic, load size, degree of soilingand hardness of the water used.Follow the product manufacturersinstructionson quantities to use.Use less detergent if:you are washing a small load
the laundry is lightly soiledlarge amounts of foam form during washing.
*do not use acetone on artificial silk.
