ขอมูลเบื้องตน และการติดตัง้ I. ขอมูลเบ้ืองตน

X8268r เปน ADSL Modem แบบ Wireless Router ที่มีชองตอเชื่อมทั้งแบบ Ethernet 4 ports และ Wireless port ที่สนับสนุนมาตราฐาน 802.11 b/g สําหรับการตอเชื่อมกับคอมพิวเตอร โดยในสวนการตอเชื่อมบริการ ADSL นั้น สนับสนุนมาตราฐาน Annex A ดังนั้น X8268r สามารถนําไปใชไดทั้งในสํานักงาน บาน และภาคสนามที่มีความตองการสงและรับขอมูลความเร็วสูง II. อุปกรณท่ีมีมาให

IV. การติดตัง้อุปกรณเพื่อใชงาน

1. ถอดสายโทรศัพทที่ตออยูกับเครื่องโทรศัพทเปลี่ยนมาเสียบเขาที่ชอง LINE ของ Splitter แลวนําสายโทรศัพทที่ใหมาเสียบปลายดานหนึ่งเขากับเครื่องโทรศัพทและปลายอีกดานเสียบเขากับชอง PHONE ของ Splitter

2. จากนั้นนําสายโทรศัพทที่ใหมาอีกเสนหนึ่ง ปลายดานหนึ่งของสายตอเขากับชอง WAN ของ ADSL modem และปลายอีกดานหนึ่งตอเขากับชอง ADSL ของ Splitter

3. ใชสาย LAN ที่ใหมาปลายดานหนึ่งตอเขากบัชองเสยีบสาย LAN บน ADSL modem (ชอง 1x ถึง 4x) และปลายอีกดานหนึ่งตอเขากับชองเสียบสาย LAN บนเครื่อง PC (โดยสามารถตอไดสูงสุดถึง 4 เคร่ือง)

4. ตอหมอแปลง AC เขากับแหลงจายไฟ แลวจึงทําการตอปลายที่เหลือเขากับชอง PWR ของ ADSL modem

สําหรับการตอเชื่อมผาน Wireless Port นั้น สามารถดูรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมไดในหัวขอ Wireless LAN (หนาที่ 4)


การเริ่มการใชงาน การกําหนดคาตางๆและการจัดการ

I. การเริ่มใชงานบริการ ADSL เบื้องตน WiFi ADSL Router รุน X8268r ที่ทานใชอยูนี้ไดมีการกําหนดคาพารามิเตอรตางๆเพื่อใชงานในแบบ Router ตามผูใหบริการแลว (บมจ. ทศท คอรปอเรชั่น) โดยสามารถเขาไปตรวจสอบคาตางๆไดที่สวน “Connection Settings” ยกเวนคา Username และ Password ที่ใชสําหรับการตอเชื่อมบริการ ADSL ซึ่งตองทําการกําหนดลงไปในครั้งแรกเพื่อใหสามารถตอเชื่อมเขาสูบริการ ADSL ได โดยทานสามารถเขาไปกําหนดคา Username และ Password ในการตอเชื่อมบริการ ASDSL ไดดังนี้ 1. ตอเชื่อมอุปกรณตามหัวขอ “IV. การติดตั้งอุปกรณเพื่อใชงาน” ซึ่งอยูในหนาที่ 2 หมายเหตุ อุปกรณดังกลาวไดมีการกําหนดใหเปน DHCPServer แลว ดังนั้นสามารถให PC รับคา IP address ไดโดยตรงจาก ADSL Router (obtain automatically) 2. ทําการเปด Web Browser แลวใสคา 192.168.1.1 ตรง Address ของ Website เพื่อใชในการเขาไปสูหนากําหนด

คาพารามิเตอรตางๆของ WiFi ADSL Router 3. หนา Router Log In จะปรากฏขึ้น ดังแสดงในรูป ใหทําการใส USER NAME และ PASSWORD ดังนี้

USER NAME : admin PASSWORD : tot

4. หลังจากที่ Login เขาไปแลว จะปรากฏหนาจอ Broadband Log In ดังแสดงในรูป ใหใสคา USER NAME และ PASSWORD เพื่อตอเชื่อมบริการ ADSL โดยทําการใสคา USER NAME และ PASSWORD ตามที่ไดรับจากทาง บมจ. ทศท คอรปอเรชั่น แลวทําการกดปุม Save & Record จากนั้น ADSL Router จะทําการตอเชื่อมบริการ ADSL ให ซึ่งทําใหทานสามารถเลนอินเตอรเน็ต ไดโดยการเปด Web Browser ใหมขึ้นมาใชงาน

II. การกําหนดคาตางๆและการจัดการ กอนที่จะเขาไปกําหนดคาตางๆและทําการจัดการ ADSL Modem ใหทําตามขั้นตอนที่ 1 ถึง 3 ในหัวขอ “I. การเริ่มการใชงาน” จากนั้น บนหนาจอ Broadband Log In ใหกดปุม Cancel จะปรากฏหนาจอและเมนูสําหรับการกําหนดคาและการจัดการ ADSL modem ซึ่งจะแสดงรายละเอียดในหัวขอยอยถัดไป เมื่อทําการกําหนดคาและจัดการตางๆเรียบรอยแลว ใหทําการปด Web Browser


1. การกําหนดคาตางๆสําหรับการทํางานแบบไรสาย (Wireless Setup) ในสวนนี้จะอธิบายถึงการกําหนดคาใน Router ใหสามารถเปดใชงาน Wireless Feature โดยในการเขาไปกําหนดคาเราสามารถทําไดโดยเขาไปที่ Wireless LAN เมน ู จากนั้นทําการเลือกไปที่ Wireless Setup ดังแสดงในรูป

1.1 Basic Wireless Setup เลือกไปที่ Wireless Setup เพื่อกําหนดการใชงาน Wireless Feature โดยสามารถดูการกําหนดคาดังแสดงในตัวอยางขางลาง หลังจากทําการเปลี่ยนคาตางๆแลว ใหทําการกดปุม Apply. หลังจากทําการเปลี่ยนคาพารามิเตอรแลว จะตองทําการ Restart the Access Point เพื่อใหเร่ิมทํางานโดยใชคาพารามิเตอรใหม โดยคลิ๊กไปที่

Enable AP ทานตองเลือก Enable AP เมื่อตองการ Enable Wireless Function SSID ใชเพื่อกําหนดชื่อของ Access Point ของทานใหตางจากคนอื่นๆ Channel B/G เปนคาที่ใชในการกําหนดชวงความถี่ทีใ่ชในโครงขาย WLAN อยางไรก็ตาม แมวาจะ

สามารถกําหนดไดตั้งแตคา 1-14 แตก็อาจขึ้นอยูกับมาตรฐานที่ใชในประเทศนั้น เชน FCC: channels 1 to 11 และ ETSI: channels 1 to 13.

Enable AP ทานตองเลือก Enable AP เมื่อตองการ Enable Wireless Function SSID ใชเพื่อกําหนดชื่อของ Access Point ของทานใหตางจากคนอื่นๆ Channel เปนคาที่ใชในการกําหนดชวงความถี่ทีใ่ชในโครงขาย WLAN อยางไร

ก็ตาม แมวาจะสามารถกําหนดไดตั้งแตคา 1-14 แตก็อาจขึ้นอยูกับมาตรฐานที่ใชในประเทศนั้น เชน FCC: channels 1 to 11�ETSI: channels 1 to 13.

Domain แสดงคามาตรฐานที่ใช เชน FCC หรือ ETSI RTS Threshold คาปกติที่ควรกําหนดจะเปนคาเร่ิมตน กลาวคือ 2,432 โดยคาดังกลาว

จะตองสอดคลองกบั remote clients. Fragmentation ใชในการกําหนดคา fragmentation threshold โดยอยูระหวาง 256 และ

2346 ถาพบมีคา Packet error rate สูง ใหลองทําการเพิ่มคา Fragmentation Threshold.

Power Level ใชในการกําหนดคา Strength ของสัญญาณ โดยที่มีคาเร่ิมตนอยูที่ 100%

1.3 Wireless Management ทานสามารถเขาไปยังสวน Wireless Management ไดโดยการเขาไปที่ Wireless Setup จากนั้นเลือกไปที่ Wireless Management. Access List ในสวน Access List นี้ เราสามารถกําหนดคา Mac Addes ของอุปกรณที่เราตองการ หรือไมตองการใหสามารถเขามารวมใชงาน Access Point นี้ได


เราสามารถกําหนดการใชงาน Access List ไดดังนี้ :

1. เลือกไปที่ Enable Access List 2. จากนั้นเลือกไปที่ Allow (เพื่ออนุญาต MAC address ที่กําหนดไว) or Ban (เพื่อปองกันการเขามาใชงานจาก MAC

address ที่กําหนดไว). 3. แลวจึงทําการใสคา MAC Address โดยใหอยูในรูปแบบดังนี้ xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx 4. จากนั้นทําการ Restart Access point และทําการบันทึกคาที่ไดกําหนดไว

1.4 Wireless Security เพื่อกําหนดระดับ Security ใหกับ Access Point นั้น เราสามารถทําไดโดยเลือกไปที่ Wireless Security โดยสามารถเลือกเขาไปกําหนด WEP, 802.1x, and WPA security ก็ได.

WEP เพื่อกําหนดรูปแบบของ security ของ WEP นั้น ใหเลือกไปที่ WEP ในหนาจอ Wireless Security โดยที่หนาจอนี้เราสามารถกําหนดคา WEP ได ดังแสดงในรูป

ในการกําหนดคา WEP encryption นั้นสามารถทําไดดังนี้ :

2. เลือก Authentication Type ตามขอมลูที่แสดงในตารางนี้ .

Open: อนุญาตใหใครก็ไดสามารถเขามาใช WAP Shared: ใช WEP key เปน shared-key เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยน ระหวาง client และ WAP มาเปน

การทํา authentication. Both: อนุญาตทั้งสองรูปแบบ

3. ใสรหัสในรูปเลขฐาน 16 โดยใสจํานวน 10, 26, หรือ 58 หลัก สําหรับ 64, 128 or 256 bit Encryption Keys ตามลําดับ

เชน. AA AA AA AA AA สําหรับกรณี 64 bits. (กรุณาเวนชองวางตามตัวอยางในการใสรหัส) 4. ใสระดับของการ Encryption หรือ Cypher (level of encryption) ทางดานขวามือ (64, 128,256) 5. จากนั้นเลือกไปที่ Apply 6. Restart access point และทําการบันทึกคาลงบน Router

2. การตอเชื่อม ADSL ในรูปแบบตางๆ (Connection Settings)

เลือกไปที่ Connection Settings ที่อยูบน navigation bar. จากนั้นเลือกไปที่ Create New Connection Service. ทานสามารถกําหนดรูปแบบการตอเชื่อม ADSL ที่กําหนดไวในตัวอุปกรณ Router ได กรุณาอานและทําตามขั้นตอนที่กําหนดไวในแตละรูปแบบ.

ทานสามารถสรางรูปแบบการตอเชื่อม ADSL ไดมากกวา 1 การตอเชื่อมในแตละรูปแบบดังแสดงในหัวขอขางลางนี้

1.1 RFC-1483 Bridge 1.2 PPP over ATM (PPPoA) 1.3 PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE) 1.4 RFC-1483 Route 1.5 MER 1.6 DHCP Client over RFC-2684 Bridge 1.7 IP over ATM (IPoA)

2.1 การตอเชือ่มแบบ RFC-1483 Bridge

ทําการเลือกการเชื่อมตอแบบ RFC-1483 Bridge จากเมนูดังในรูป.


Connection Name: กําหนดชื่อที่ใชในการตอเชื่อมในรูปแบบดังกลาว. VPI: ใสคา VPI ตามที่ผูใหบริการ ADSL กําหนดไว. VCI: ใสคา VCI ตามที่ผูใหบริการ ADSL กําหนดไว. Encapsulation: เลือก LLC or VC Mux ตามที่ผูใหบริการ ADSL กําหนดไว. QoS: เลือกคา QoS (Quality of Service) ที่จะกําหนดไวสําหรับการตอเชื่อมในแตละรูปแบบ โดยคา QoS สามารถกําหนดได 3 คาดังนี้ : UBR, CBR, or VBR. ถากําหนดคา QoS เปน CBR (Constant Bit Rate) ทานจะตองกาํหนดคา PCR (Peak Cell Rate) value แตถากําหนดคา QoS เปน VBR (Variable Bit Rate) ทานจะตองกําหนดคาทั้ง PCR and SCR (Sustained Cell Rate) ลงไปดวย

จากนั้นเลือกไปที่ Apply เพื่อสิ้นสุดการตั้งคาพารามิเตอร อยางไรก็ตาม ถาตองการใหคาดังกลาวถูกบันทึกไวใน Router ทานตองไปที่สวน Maintenance เพื่อบันทกึคาดังกลาวแบบถาวรตอไป.

2.2 การตอเชื่อมแบบ PPP over ATM (PPPoA)

ทําการเลือกการเชื่อมตอแบบ PPPoA จากเมนูดังในรูป.



Option: ทานสามารถเลือกที่จะใชงาน NAT และ/หรือ Firewall ก็ไดจากสวนนี้. Username: สําหรับใสคา username เพื่อเชื่อมตอบริการ ADSL . Password: สําหรับใสคา password เพือ่เชื่อมตอบริการ ADSL. Idle Time: ทานสามารถกําหนดระยะเวลาในการ ยกเลิกการตอเชื่อมบริการ ADSL เมื่อไมมีการใชงานเปนระยะเวลาตามที่ทานกําหนดในคานี้ในรูปวินาที . คาดังกลาวจะสามารถใชไดก็ตอเมื่อเราเลือกไปที่ “On Demand option”.

Keep Alive: ทานสามารถกําหนดระยะเวลาในการตอเชือ่มบริการ เมื่อไมมีการตอ ISP ออกไปไดอีก โดยคาดังกลาวจะใชไดเมื่อคา On Demand option ไมถูกเลือก

Max fail: ทานสามารถกําหนดจํานวนครั้งในการตอเชื่อมเมื่อไมสามารถ connect ไดในคร้ังแรก โดยที่คาเทากับ 0 หมายถึงการตอเชื่อมแบบไมจํากัด และจะพยายามตอเชื่อมจนกวาจะสําเร็จ

MRU: Enter ทานสามารถกําหนดจํานวนสูงสุดของ Packet ที่ใชในการรับบนการตอเชื่อมแบบ โดยสําหรับการตอเชื่อมแบบ PPPoE นั้นจะใสคาระหวาง 128 ถึง 1492 bytes และสําหรับการตอเชื่อมแบบ PPPoA นั้นจะใสคาระหวาง 128 ถึง 1500 bytes .

Option: ทานสามารถเลือกคาตางๆเพิม่เติมสําหรับการตอเชื่อมในรูปแบบนี้ เชนเลือก On Demand เพื่อให On Demand mode ทํางาน หรือ เลือก Set Route เพื่อระบุวาการตอเชื่อมดงักลาวเปน default route และเลือก Debug เพื่อให PPP connection debugging facilities ทํางาน.

Idle Time: ทานสามารถกําหนดระยะเวลาในการ ยกเลิกการตอเชื่อมบริการ ADSL เมื่อไมมีการใชงานเปนระยะเวลาตามที่ทานกําหนดในคานี้ในรูปวินาที . คาดังกลาวจะสามารถใชไดก็ตอเมื่อเราเลือกไปที่ “On Demand option”.

Keep Alive: ทานสามารถกําหนดระยะเวลาในการตอเชือ่มบริการ เมื่อไมมีการตอ ISP ออกไปไดอีก โดยคาดังกลาวจะใชไดเมื่อคา On Demand option ไมถูกเลือก

Max fail: ทานสามารถกําหนดจํานวนครั้งในการตอเชื่อมเมื่อไมสามารถ connect ไดในคร้ังแรก โดยที่คาเทากับ 0 หมายถึงการตอเชื่อมแบบไมจํากัด และจะพยายามตอเชื่อมจนกวาจะสําเร็จ

MRU: Enter ทานสามารถกําหนดจํานวนสูงสุดของ Packet ที่ใชในการรับบนการตอเชื่อมแบบ โดยสําหรับการตอเชื่อมแบบ PPPoE นั้นจะใสคาระหวาง 128 ถึง 1492 bytes และสําหรับการตอเชื่อมแบบ PPPoA นั้นจะใสคาระหวาง 128 ถึง 1500 bytes .

Primary DNS Address: กําหนดคา IP Address ของ primary domain name server(DNS). Secondary DNS Address: : กําหนดคา IP Address ของ secondary domain name server(DNS). คาดังกลาวจะถูกใชถาคา

primary DNS ไมสามารถใชงานได. Third DNS Address: กําหนดคา IP Address ของ third domain name server(DNS). คาดังกลาวจะถูกใชถาคา secondary DNS ไมสามารถใชงานได.

จากนั้นเลือกไปที่ Apply เพื่อสิ้นสุดการตั้งคาพารามิเตอร อยางไรก็ตาม ถาตองการใหคาดังกลาวถูกบันทึกไวใน Router ทานตองไปที่สวน Maintenance เพื่อบันทกึคาดังกลาวแบบถาวรตอไป


3. System Settings

3.1 DHCP Server 3.1 DHCP Server

เลือกไปที่ LAN Configuration ที่อยูบน navigation bar เพื่อตรวจสอบ และกําหนดคา DHCP Server ดังแสดงในรูป โดยเร่ิมจากเลือกไปที่ Configure ในรูปแรก จากนั้นจะปรากฏหนาจอถัดมาใหสามารถกําหนดคา DHCP Server ได อุปกรณ Router ที่ทานใชอยูนี้สามารถกําหนดใหทํางานเปน DHCP Server และรับสงขอมูลระหวาง PC หลายๆเคร่ืองไดโดยการกําหนดกลุม IP address ขึ้นมา.

Server On: เลือก Server On เมื่อตองการใหอุปกรณทํางานเปน DHCP Server. Starting IP Address: กําหนดคา IP address ที่ตองการให DHCP Server ใชเปน IP Address เร่ิมตนเพื่อกําหนดให PC ในกลุม. Ending IP Address: กําหนดคา IP address ที่ตองการให DHCP Server ใชเปน IP Address สุดทายเพื่อกําหนดให PC ในกลุม. Lease Duration: กําหนดระยะเวลาที ่ IP address หนึ่งๆจะถูกใชโดย client. DHCP Relay On: เลือก Relay On เมื่อตองการให router ทําการสง DHCP requests ไปที่ DHCP Server อื่นๆ โดยถาเราเลือกไปที่ relay mode แลว router จะไมทําหนาที่เปน DHCP server อีกตอไป.

Relay IP: กําหนดคา IP address ของ relay server. Server and Relay off: เลือก Server and Relay off เมื่อไมตองการให Router ทําหนาที่ทั้ง Relay และ DHCP server. จากนั้นเลือกไปที่ Apply เพื่อสิ้นสุดการตั้งคาพารามิเตอร อยางไรก็ตาม ถาตองการใหคาดังกลาวถูกบันทึกไวใน Router ทานตองไปที่สวน Maintenance เพื่อบันทกึคาดังกลาวแบบถาวรตอไป

3.2 Firewall/NAT Services

Enable Firewall: ทานสามารถเลือกที่จะ enable หรือ disable Firewall and NAT service ไดดังแสดงในรูปขางตน.



4. Maintenance

เลือกไปที่ Maintenance ที่อยูบน navigation bar ในสวนนี้จะประกอบไปดวย System Commands, User Management, Update Gateway,

Ping Test, Router Test และ UI Preferences โดยมีรายละเอียดดังนี ้ 4.1 System Commands

เลือกไปที่ System Commands ที่อยูบน navigation bar เพื่อดูตาราง Systems Commands.

System Commands: เราสามารถเลือกไปที่ Save All, Restart หรือ Restore Defaults โดยเราสามารถทําการบันทึกคาที่กําหนดไว และใหนํามาใชหลังจาก Restart โดยเลือกไปที่ Save All สวนกรณ ีRestart นั้นจะเปนการ reboot router ตามปกติ สุดทายในสวน Restore Defaults นั้นจะเปนการนําคาที่กาํหนดโดยโรงงานมาใช

4.2 User Management

เลือกไปที่ User Management ที่อยูบน navigation bar เพื่อตรวจสอบการตั้งการ Login เขาสู Router โดยในหนานี้จะใชเพื่อเปลี่ยนแปลง user name และ password สําหรับ router.


Username: กําหนดคา User Name ที่ตองการใชในการติดตอ Router ผาน Web management interface. Password/Confirm Password: กําหนดคา Password ที่จะใชรวมกับ User Name ดังกลาว Idle Timeout: กําหนดชวงเวลา ที่จะ logged out ถาไมมีการใชงาน

4.3 Update Gateway

เลือกไปที่ Update Gateway ที่อยูบน navigation bar เพื่ออัพเกรดซอฟแวร โดยจะปรากฏหนาจอตามที่แสดงขางลางนี้

ทําการคลิก๊ไปท่ี Browse เพื่อทําการเลอืกไฟลท่ีใชในการอพัเกรด คลิ๊กไปท่ี Update Gateway เมื่อเลือกไฟลท่ีตองการอพัเกรดเรียบรอยแลว จากนั้นระบบจะทําการ Reboot เพื่อเร่ิมตนการทํางานพรอมกับ ซอฟแวรที่ไดอัพเกรดไป

Getting Started

I. Overview

The X8268r is an ADSL customer premise device, which supports multi-ADSL line coding methods. The X8268r provides four 10/100BaseT Ethernet interfaces at the DTE side and includes one 802.11b/g WLAN AP for LAN users. The broadband line interface supports ADSL Annex A/B. The X8268r delivers broadband Internet access for enterprises, telecommuters, home, and remote office workers with high-speed data transmission requirements. II. Appearance

III. Hardware Installation

Connect one end of the ADSL cable to the WAN port of X8268r and the other end to the

Use a RJ-45 cable to connect one end to the Ethernet port of X8268r, and the other end to a PC with an Ethernet adapter installed. (Up to 4 connections can be made)

Plug the AC adapter into the AC power socket, and then connect the DC jack to the PWR inlet of X8268r.

For information regarding establishing a wireless connection please see chapter 4.

IV. Management

Local Ethernet Port (web-browser) – connect the Ethernet port to your local area network or directly to a PC. Launch your web browser and enter default local Ethernet IP address “192.168.1.1” into the address bar.

V. Software Upgrade

You may easily upgrade X8268r embedded software by obtaining the compressed upgrade kit from the service provider and then following the steps to upgrade the software of X8268r using a web-browser:

Step 1. Extract the ZIP file for updated firmware.

Step 2. Connect X8268r via the local Ethernet port, make sure that the X8268r Ethernet IP address and your terminal are properly configured so that you can successfully ping X8268r. The default local IP address is 192.168.1.1.

Step 3. Launch the Web browser (IE or Netscape), and enter the default IP address 192.168.1.1 into the address bar to access the Web management page.

Step 4. Click on the Maintenance link in the navigation bar and then on the Upgrade Gateway link below it.

Step 5. Click on the Browse button to select the upgrade file. Step 6. Click on the Update button when completed. Step 7. Update ram_zimage_pad.ar7rd.nsp.squashfs.upgrade, then Update nsp. annexA.

Using ADSL Services with x8268r ADSL Modem (Model X8268r) had already set up parameters as defined by ADSL Services provider (TOT). However, you may check and verify such parameters at “Connection Settings”. Exceptionally, Username and Password for connecting with ISP should be defined at the first time of installation. You can define the Username and Password in PPP part as following: 1. Please refer the hardware installation procedure to install ADSL Modem. 2. Open the Web browser and enter the default IP address 192.168.1.1 to access the web management page of

ADSL Modem 3. Router Log In page will be appeared and shown as below, then type USER NAME and PASSWORD as

following USER NAME : admin PASSWORD : tot

4. After that, Broadband Log In page will be appeared as below, then put USER NAME and PASSWORD for accessing ADSL Services that you get from TOT and click at “Save & Record” button to connect the ADSL services and surf the internet. You can play the internet by closing this window and open the new Web browser.


1. Connection Settings

Click on the Connection Settings link on the navigation bar. Click on the Create New Connection Service link. This page allows

you to create connections for every protocol available on this device. Please read the following instructions on creating each type of the connection.

You can create multiple connection services for each of following protocols:

1.1 RFC-1483 Bridge

Select RFC-1483 Bridge from the Connection Type drop-down menu.

Connection Name: Choose a name that will identify the connection. VPI: Enter the VPI value into this box. VCI: Enter the VCI value into this box. No two connections can have the same VPI/VCI values. Encapsulation: Select LLC or VC Mux. QoS: Choose the QoS (Quality of Service) to be provided over the connection. The QoS can take

one of three possible values: UBR, CBR, or VBR. If QoS is CBR (Constant Bit Rate), then it


requires a PCR (Peak Cell Rate) value. If QoS is VBR (Variable Bit Rate), then it requires both PCR and SCR (Sustained Cell Rate) values.

Click on the Apply button to complete the configuration. Please note that configurations can only be permanently saved through the Maintenance interface.

1.2 PPP over ATM (PPPoA)

Select PPPoA from the Connection Type drop-down menu.

Option: You may choose to enable NAT and/or Firewall. Username: Enter a username for DSL access. Password: Enter a password for DSL access. The Username and Password fields are required. Idle Time: Enter a non-zero value (time in seconds) to define the length of time after which the line

should be disconnected if there is no activity over the connection. This parameter applies only when the On Demand option is chosen.

Keep Alive: Enter a non-zero value (time in seconds) to define the length of time that the connection should be kept alive when not connected to the ISP. This parameter applies only when the On Demand option is not chosen.

Max fail: Enter the maximum number of attempts to connect. A value of zero indicates no limit, and that attempts to connect should continue indefinitely.

MRU: Enter a value in bytes to define the maximum packet size that can be received over a DSL connection. For a PPPoE connection, enter a value between 128 and 1492 bytes. For a PPPoA connection, enter a value between 128 and 1500 bytes.


Option: Choose one or more of these options for the connection: Choose On Demand to enable the On Demand mode; Choose Set Route to specify the connection as the default route; Choose Debug to enable the PPP connection debugging facilities.


1.3 PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)

Select PPPoE from the Connection Type drop-down menu.



Option: You may choose to enable NAT and/or Firewall. Username: Enter a username for DSL access. Password: Enter a Password for DSL access. The Username and Password fields are required. Idle Time: Enter a non-zero value (time in seconds) to define the length of time after which the line

should be disconnected if there is no activity over the connection. This parameter applies only when the On Demand option is chosen.

Keep Alive: Enter a non-zero value (time in seconds) to define the length of time that the connection should be kept alive when not connected to the ISP. This parameter applies only when the On Demand option is not chosen.

Max fail: Enter the maximum number of attempts to connect. A value of zero indicates no limit, and that attempts to connect should continue indefinitely.

MRU: Enter a value in bytes to define the maximum packet size that can be received over a DSL connection. For a PPPoE connection, enter a value between 128 and 1492 bytes. For a PPPoA connection, enter a value between 128 and 1500 bytes.


Option: Choose one or more of these options for the connection: Choose On Demand to enable the On Demand mode; Choose Set Route to specify the connection as the default route; Choose Enforce MRU to force all TCP traffic to conform with PPP MRU; Choose Debug to enable the PPP connection debugging facilities.


1.4 RFC-1483 Route

Select RFC-1483 Route from the Connection Type drop-down menu.



Option: You may choose to enable NAT and/or Firewall. IP Address: Enter the IP Address of the connection. IP Subnet Mask: Enter the Subnet Mask of the corresponding IP Address. Primary DNS Address: Enter the IP Address of the primary domain name server. Secondary DNS Address: Enter the IP Address of the secondary domain name server. This will

be used if the primary DNS fails. Third DNS Address: Enter the IP Address of the third domain name server. This will be used if the

secondary DNS fails. Click on the Apply button to complete the configuration. Please note that configurations can only be permanently saved through the Maintenance interface


2. System Settings

Click on the System Settings link on the navigation bar. This section includes LAN Configuration , Firewall/NAT Services, and

Modem Setup. Each section is described in detail below.

4.4 DHCP Server 3.1 DHCP Server 3.2 2.1 DHCP Server

Click on the LAN Configuration link in the navigation bar to view the DHCP Server configuration table. The device can be configured to perform as a DHCP Server and to enable data connection between multiple PCs by configuring IP address ranges and lease duration.

Server On: Click this toggle button to enable the modem to operate as a DHCP server. Starting IP Address: Enter the IP address that you would like the DHCP server to start assigning

addresses from. Ending IP Address: Enter the last IP address that you would like the DHCP server to assign. Lease Duration: Enter the amount of time that an IP address can be used by a client. Relay On: Click on this toggle button to enable the modem to relay DHCP requests to another

DHCP server. If you set the modem to relay mode, the modem will no longer operate as a DHCP server.

Relay IP: Enter the IP address of the relay server. Server and Relay off: Click on this toggle button to turn off both relay and DHCP server

functionality. Click on the Apply button when completed. Please note that configurations can only be

permanently saved through the Maintenance interface. 2.2 Management IP

Click on the Management IP link in the navigation bar to view the LAN IP table.


IP Address: Enter the appropriate IP address for the modem. Netmask: Enter the subnet mask for the modem. Default Gateway: Enter the name of the gateway for the modem. Hostname: Enter the host name for the modem. Domain Name: Enter the domain name for the modem. Click on the Apply button to complete the configurations. Please note that configurations can only

be permanently saved through the Maintenance interface. 2.3 Firewall/NAT Services

Click on the Firewall/NAT Services link on the navigation bar to view the Firewall/NAT Service table. This table shows the status of the Firewall/NAT service.

Enable Firewall: Check this checkbox to enable or disable Firewall and NAT service. Click on the Apply button to complete the configurations. Please note that configurations can only

be permanently saved through the Maintenance interface. 3. Wireless LAN This chapter will explain the configuration of your router for wireless LAN functionality. To access the Wireless LAN menu, click on Wireless Setup, on the left –hand menu bar of your screen.

3.1 Basic Wireless Setup To access the Wireless Setup screen click Wireless Setup on the left- hand menu bar of your screen. The parameters are shown below. After changing any parameters you should click on the Apply

button. After changing parameters you must Restart the Access Point to enable them, and save them to make them available after a reboot/power-off. To do this click on


Enable AP You must select this item to enable wireless service. SSID The SSID (Service Set ID) allows you to uniquely identify your Access

Point in the radio environment. Channel The Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) channel number is an

identifier for the frequency on which your WLAN connectivity is enabled in the WLAN network. Although the configurable DSSS channel number range is from 1 up to 14, restrictions may apply depending on the country where the Wireless ADSL-Router is used: FCC: channels 1 to 11ETSI: channels 1 to 13.

Domain Display only item (may display FCC or ETSI) 3.2 Advanced Wireless Setup To access the WLAN Advanced parameters click on the Advance button on the Wireless Settings screen. The WLAN Advanced Parameters menu includes the parameters listed below. After changing any parameters, click on the Apply button to update the parameters, or click on the Cancel button to retain the original settings.

Enable AP You must select this item to enable wireless service. SSID The SSID (Service Set ID) allows you to uniquely

identify your Access Point in the radio environment. Channel The Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS)

channel number is an identifier for the frequency on which your WLAN connectivity is enabled in the WLAN network.

Domain Display only item (may display FCC or ETSI) Beacon Interval Specify the Beacon Interval value. Enter a value

between 1 and 1000. The value represents the time in nano-seconds that Beacon packets are sent by an Access Point to synchronize a wireless network.

DTIM Interval Enter a value between 1 and 65535. This number represents the time between sending delivery traffic identification messages (DTIMs) used for power saving and multicast/broadcast delivery. A DTIM is a countdown informing clients of the next window for listening to broadcast and multicast messages.

RTS Threshold This value should normally remain at its default setting of 2,432. Should you encounter inconsistent data flow, only minor modifications are recommended. The value must match with remote clients.

Fragmentation This field is used to specify the fragmentation threshold. Enter a value between 256 and 2346. If you experience a high packet error rate, try to slightly increase your Fragmentation Threshold. The value should normally remain at its default setting of 2,346. This value must match client adapters.

Power Level This allows setting of the strength of the signal for wireless broadcast. The default is 100%.

b/g Mode This sets the 802.11 standard. The default is Mixed


(11b+11g), you can limit it to b, b+, or g. Hidden SSID This will hide the routers SSID 3.3 Wireless Management To access the Wireless Management screen, click Wireless Setup on the left- hand menu bar of your screen, and then click on Wireless Management. Access List The Access List, screen will display when you enter the wireless management screen. From this screen you can set-up Mac Addresses to be allowed or banned by the wireless router.

To enable an access list, complete the following steps:

5. Check Enable Access List 6. Select Allow (permits the selected MAC address) or Ban (disallows access form the selected

MAC). 7. Enter the MAC Address for the rule. Use the configuration xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx

8. Restart the access point and save the setting if it is required after a reboot.

3.4 Wireless Security To access the Wireless Security screen, select Wireless Security on the left-hand menu bar of your screen, and then click on Wireless Security. From this screen you can set-up WEP, 802.1x, and WPA security.

WEP To access the WEP screen, check WEP on the Wireless Security screen. From this screen you can setup multiple WEP encryption keys.


To setup WEP encryption, complete the following steps:

7. Check Enable WEP Security 8. Select an Authentication Type

. Open: Permits any client to use the WAP

Shared: Uses the WEP key as shared-key to be exchanged between the

client and the WAP as a simple form of authentication.

Both: Permits both the above methods

9. Enter a hexadecimal Encryption Key Enter 10, 26, or 58 hexadecimal digits for 64, 128 or 256 bit Encryption Keys respectively. e.g., AA AA AA AA AA for a key length of 64 bits.

10. Enter the Cypher (level of encryption) to the right of the Encryption Key

(64, 128,256)

11. Click on the Apply button

12. Restart the access point and save the parameters if they are required after a reboot.

4. Maintenance

Click on the Maintenance link on the navigation bar. This section includes System Commands, User Management, Update

Gateway, Ping Test, Modem Test, and UI Preferences. Each section is described in detail below.

4.1 System Commands

Click on the System Commands link in the navigation bar to view the Systems Commands table.


System Commands: Click on the Save All, Restart, or Restore Defaults button. You can save the system configuration so that it is available when you restart the system by using Save All. Restart will invoke a warm reboot of the system, and Restore Defaults will restore the factory default settings of the system.

4.2 User Management

Click on the User Management link in the navigation bar to view the User Management interface. This page can be used to change the user name and password for the modem.

Username: Enter the password that will be used to access the system software through the Web management interface.

Password/Confirm Password: Enter the password that will accompany the user name to access the system software. The username and password are case sensitive and can be up to 20 characters long.

Idle Timeout: Enter the length of time in minutes after which the interface user will be automatically logged out if there is no activity during that time.

5. Logout

Click on the Logout link on the navigation bar to view the Logout dialog box.

Log Out: Click on the Log Out button to end the current session.
