Helgi Rúnar Óskarsson, CEOIt all started 85 years ago in a small town called Sudureyri in the Westfjords of Iceland.The Arctic Circle passes through this town at a latitude of 66°north and it is from this very point that we take our name. Now as we celebrate our 85th birthday, we also celebrate the fact that last year was our biggest year ever for export revenue. As we continue to grow outside of Iceland, we understand the importance of constantly improving our winter and summer collections to suit the needs of our international customers. Throughout the decades we have made it possible for Icelanders to work and play in all kinds of weather conditions. I recently participated in a 25 km off-road running race across Iceland’s spectacular natural terrain. During the run I wore our Grettir T-shirt. It kept me dry throughout the nearly two-and-a-half hours it took me to finish the race... and no, I was not the last one to finish! Grettir, which is named after a famous outlaw from the Icelandic Sagas, is an item from our Active Wear line. It is made from quality Polartec® fabric like other Grettir garments from the same line. In addition to celebrating our 85th birthday in 2011, we also celebrated the fact that one of our garments, the Snæfell Jacket, won the prestigious ispo Outdoor Award. Snæfell is the result of many years of research, development and tireless fine-tuning by our chief designer Jan Davidsson. It is this dedication to quality that has brought us not only this sought after award, but praise from our clients and co-operative partners like the Icelandic Rescue Team. The Rescue Team has selected both the Snæfell Jacket and our Vatnajökull Softshell Jacket as standard items for their members. Both these jackets belong to our Arctic Edition line and are made from high quality Polartec® breathable fabrics. Our aim at 66°NORTH is to continue to weave state of the art design with the best available fabrics in the world, so you can continue to enjoy life whatever your outdoor interests may be.

Polartec® NeoShell®

Polartec® Power Shield® Pro fabrics feature a smooth, tightly woven face for great abrasion resistance, and a

polyester back for a high warmth-to- weight ratio. The membrane in the middle enables the fabric to block 99% of the

wind. The remaining 1% circulates within the fabric improving breathability and reducing the risk of heat build-up.

Polartec® Power Shield® fabrics have the best breathability in the softshell market and are 30-50% more breathable

than windproof softshells in dynamic or active conditions. The biggest advance of the new Polartec® Power Shield®

Pro membrane is the addition of real water resistance. Polartec® Power Shield® Pro delivers an initial 5,000mm

water resistance.

Polartec® NeoShell® features a proprietary, patented construction process creating a new hydrophobic,

microporous, polyurethane membrane with a tightly controlled range of pore sizes. It has the durability

and stretch of a polyurethane film plus the breathability of a microporous structure. This unique

construction allows positive air exchange to drive moisture vapour release while remaining completely

waterproof (10.000 mm). It does all this at a fraction of the weight of current membrane technologies, so

a garment made of Polartec® NeoShell® is lighter, softer and more supple than the competition. Both

lab and field tests indicate this fabric will be a “game changer” for performance outerwear.

learn from actual users about the performance level of their fabrics.

The American Alpine Institute gives eVENT® waterproof fabrics the prestigious 2007

Guides Choice Award. Guides Choice testers found that eVENT® waterproof fabrics

let sweat escape far more rapidly than other fabrics do. They found that eVENT®

fabrics stayed dry on the inside and caused them to overheat less, making them more

comfortable. The testers noted that because they sweated less in eVENT®, they were less

susceptible to post-exercise chill and dehydration. Testers found eVENT® generally more

comfortable in both dry and wet conditions.

planet. The Organic Cotton 66°NORTH uses is AZO free dyed and the quality is verified

by "OCIA International" ( IFOAM-accredited).

Pertex Shield DSPertex Shield DS combines technically advanced face fabric technology with a

proprietary bi-component Polyurethane coating technology specifically engineered

for unlined garments. The coating provides an optimum balance of waterproofness,

breathability and light weight.

PrimaLoft® One

PrimaLoft® One insulation absorbs 3 times less water, is 15% warmer when dry and is

24% warmer when wet than the closest competitive insulation. PrimaLoft® One is the

ultimate down-like microfibre insulation.

PrimaLoft® One is soft and light, and insulates so well that holding a piece of it in the

hand feels like holding warm air.

PrimaLoft‘s proprietary process utilizes specially treated water repellent microdenier

fibres. The fibres are then structured together to create millions of insulating air pockets

that retain body warmth and form a fine framework that repels water.

PrimaLoft® One is wind resistant, breathable and dries faster than down. PrimaLoft®

One is as warm and soft as down and compresses like down. It has superior water

repellency, retains warmth when wet and is thermally efficient.

Product CareTo prolong the life of your 66°North apparel, follow the washing instructions

found on the inside tag of your garment.

Howtowashwaterproof/breathableshells

Regular washing of your eVENT® garment will enhance product performance.

Your garment may be machine washed in warm water (40°C)

with liquid detergent. You may also use Nikwax® Tech Wash. We also

recommend a second rinse to remove all traces of detergent from the fabric.

We recommend you drip-dry your garment. Remember also to refer to the

garment manufacture’s guidelines.

• Do not use fabric softeners.

• Do not bleach.

• Do not dry clean.

We recommend that you avoid ironing the garment, but if you do use the steam setting,

set it on no higher temperature than “warm”. At some temperatures, the heat from the

iron can have a rejuvenating effect on the DWR finish but there is a greater potential for

fabric damage if the iron is too hot.

Merino Wool

66°NORTH uses only the highest quality Merino Wool for its base layers.

While all wool retains its insulative qualities when wet, only

exceptionally fine wool such as Merino Wool can wick moisture away from

the skin. We’re confident that our wool is the best in the world for use

as a moisture-managing base layer.

Wool performance characteristics:

100% Merino Wool is the ideal natural fibre for performance base layers as it regulates

body temperature by controlling the rate of evaporative cooling.

Pertex® Quantum

P.O.S. Material

Tough and durable

Pertex® Quantum is a featherweight fabric at around d 30g/m2 (0.9o/yd2) made from the finest yarns

available with the maximum thread count. Less weight shouldn‘t mean ´please be careful´. Pertex®

Quantum stands its ground and shows the best strength to weight ratio. Tear strength and seam

strength are good for its weight. Pertex® Quantum is used in shell jackets and withstands the abuse

of hardcore use. Its abrasion resistance however it is not comparable with standard weight 44 decitex

fabrics.

How does it benefit the user?

Pertex® Quantum is light and strong. It has a 25-50% weight reduction without sacrificing its

strength or abrasion resistance. It also has 50% less packing volume compared to standard 44 decitex

fabrics. Thanks to its dense weave Pertex® Quantum is downproof and can be used for high-end

applications including sleeping bags, down jackets and expedition gear.

In order to accommodate our customer requests, all new styles that we introduce will be consistently sized. We are changing the chest and hip measurements to an even 6 cm between sizes.
