LIVE MATCH 14:45Port Talbot Town v Airbus UK Broughton
Terry Boyle's Wales Semi-Professional team secured their first ever win
in the International Challenge Trophy at the seventh time of asking.
After two three-match campaigns without a win, the young Dragons who
started the match with nine Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League
players, got their latest campaign off to the best possible start with a win
in Tallinn.
Kai Edwards captained the team at the back and Boyle opted for a
diamond formation, with Barrow's James Owen in the defensive role and
Alex Darlington at the top, which caused the Estonian's no end of
problems.
Despite falling behind to a tenth minute Artjom Dmitriev goal at the A.
Le Coq Arena, Wales equalised with Neath's top scorer Luke Bowen
scoring just two minutes later. There were further chances for the Welsh
before the interval, but it remained 1-1 at the break. It was another of Boyle's club players at Neath who got the winner as
Chris Jones scored on 64 minutes with an excellent strike from outside
the box. Llanelli's Craig Moses, who had three goals in five caps going
into the game, squandered additional chances to put the game out of
sight.
A delighted Boyle said after the match; "It should have been more
convincing as we played very, very well and we could have scored four
or five, but I'm really happy with the win.
"Despite going behind, we had enough in our team for me to know we
would be ok and we responded straight away with a great team goal,
which Luke Bowen finished."We were very solid at the back throughout and Chris Jones did very
well and deserved to get the winner."
"We'll now look forward to the Norwegian game at the end of the season
with confidence and hope to build on the foundations that we built
today."

League agrees to Second-Phase Fixture ScheduleThe Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League Panel have agreed the Fixtures Plan for the Second Phase of the
competition, which will start in February 2012.
The fixtures are based on the final standings after the first 22 matches, so the complete list of fixtures will not be
known until the twelve places are confirmed after the 22nd round of matches in January.
The League is hoping for a final day showdown just like last season, as the team's going into the second phase
after the 22-match split will face each other on the final day. The League has decided to announce this schedulenow, following feedback from the clubs last year, about the announcement of fixtures at the time of the split.
Games have been allocated to Saturdays at present, but when the final list is published in January it will reflect
clubs preferences, regarding home games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and subject to the broadcasting
requirements of S4C.
The plan will be the same for the Championships and Play off Conferences and the teams' allocated numbers by
virtue of their League position after 22 games have been played. The schedule is as follows:

Lloyd wins Clubman honour at FAW Awards DinnerLeague legend Gary Lloyd was the recipient of the inaugural Welsh Premier League
Clubman Award at the FAW's annual Dinner in Cardiff this evening.
The red carpet evening was held at Cardiff Museum and Lloyd was in attendance to
receive his award in recognition of his excellent service to the League. The current coach
of Welsh Cup holders Llanelli, Lloyd made 481 starts in the League, as well as 28
appearances from the bench in a career which spanned from the inaugural 1992/93season with his hometown club, until he hung up his playing boots in 2008/09. He
immediately took up a coaching role with the Reds, meaning his one season with
Newport County in 2003/04 was the only campaign in which the 39 year old has not
been involved with the League.
Lloyd is a former Wales 'B' international who was called up by Bobby Gould for the
international squad during his time with Barry Town and he was named on the bench against Belgium but did not
win a cap. He also captained the Wales semi-pro side, having come through the Llanelli youth ranks. During his
eight seasons with Barry, he won seven Championship medals, before his spell with the Exiles. He then joined
Carmarthen Town and played in Europe with the Old Gold as well as making 48 league appearances, before he
rejoined his hometown club in 2005/06, where he claimed his final League trophy.
Lloyd has always been a tremendous supporter of the League and can be relied upon to give back to the
community. He has given up his time when on European duty with the Reds to visit orphanages, he frequentlyvisits schools in the Llanelli area to coach football and he was involved in the FAW's Trophy Tour in Llanelli in
the build up to the Welsh Cup Final last season.
The Awards night also celebrated Bangor City's Welsh Premier League Title, Llanelli's Welsh Cup win, TNS's
League Cup win and Neath's Play-Off success.
Welsh Referees and Observers in demand againThis coming weekend's EURO 2012 qualifiers sees Lee Evans take charge of the
crucial match between Bosnia & Herzegovina and Luxembourg in Zenica. Should
the results go in Bosnia's favour over the next week, then they will qualify for the
finals next year in Poland and The Ukraine. Joining Lee on the game will be
Assistants' Alun Boore (Cardiff) and Eddie King (Ystradgynlais) with Llanrhaeadr's
Huw Jones as 4th Official.
Further good news for Lee Evans came in today, as UEFA have also appointed him
to a Europa League Group Match on October 20th, details of which are confidential
until the week before the match.
Lee's Assistants will be Eddie King (Ystradgynlais) and Phil Thomas (Trealaw) with Huw Jones again taking 4th
Official duties. In the Group stages of this competition, UEFA also require Additional Assistant Referees behind
the goals, so making up the refereeing team will be Dean John (Swansea) and Cardiff's Kevin Morgan.
Referee Observers Brian Lawlor and Ray Ellingham are also in demand with Brian being appointed to the
Denmark v Faroe Islands U21 game on Friday, whilst on the same night in Riga, Latvia Ray Ellingham will be
UEFA's Referee Observer for the EURO 2012 qualifier between Latvia and Malta.
"The continued appointments for our match officials on the International stage is very pleasing indeed and reflects
appreciation of the way in which they carry out their duties on the domestic scene" said FAW Referee's ManagerRodger Gifford.
Saints defender 'JJ' loaned to NewtownJERMAINE Johnson is going out on loan to Newtown to gain more Welsh Premier experience.
The 21-year-old London-born centre-half was the first signing of the summer for director of football Mike Davies
and played a crucial role in the 1-0 Europa League away win at Cliftonville, after coming on as a first-half
substitute for Phil Baker.
But he has yet to make an appearance in a league game and Davies says: "Jermaine remains an important member
of the first-team squad at Park Hall, but playing for Newtown will give him valuable game time and league
experience."
Johnson started his career as a Chelsea youth before becoming a trainee with Derby County. A regular in the
reserves at Pride Park, he spent three months on loan with Stafford Rangers before a permanent move in 2010/11during which he captained the side for part of the campaign.

THE LAST WORD from John Deakin
It was business as usual at the top of the Corbett Sports Welsh Premier League over a weekend that saw
all four clubs at the head of the table recording home wins. League leaders, The New Saints led the way
against Carmarthen Town at Park Hall on Saturday, scoring four times without reply, with Matty
Williams contributing a brace. The win results in them maintaining top slot by a single point over Neath,
who are in turn two points clear of Llanelli and reigning Champions, Bangor City.
This weekend’s fixtures are the reverse of those played on the opening weekend of the League season,
which means that The Saints have to travel to Bala Town attempting to better the 1-1 draw that they
managed on 12th
August. That result started an excellent run of early season form for Colin Caton’s side,
but they had slipped up in some recent difficult games, prior to getting a hard fought 1-0 win at Afan
Lido on Saturday. The difference between the two sides was Mark Connolly’s superb strike from a free
kick eleven minutes after the break, which leaves them just three points adrift of a top four place. Friday
evening is likely to pose a real test for them; however, entertaining Carl Darlington’s in form outfit who
have won their last eight League games.
Like TNS, Neath are in Friday night action, travelling to Aberystwyth who continue to struggle having
not won any of their last eight League games. To be fair, they did have a difficult assignment at Llanelli,
where very few sides gain any reward. This looks just as difficult, as Neath seem to be getting their act
together on the road and maintained their 100% record at The Gnoll when they beat Prestatyn 3-1 on
Sunday. After their defeat of Aberystwyth, Llanelli are back at Stebonheath on Saturday, but face their
stiffest opposition for some time, with Bangor in town. City, who defeated Port Talbot 3-1 at Farrar
Road last Saturday and are making a bold bid to retain their League title. This looks a fascinating clash
with both clubs in good form and level on 22 points. It looks too close to call, but forced into a
prediction, I would expect The Reds home advantage to give them a slight edge.
At the other end of the table, Airbus UK were last weekend’s big movers, jumping from the bottom of the table into eighth as a result of Sunday’s 3-2 defeat of Newtown at Broughton, where Ian Sheridan
grabbed a brace for the home side. This weekend they feature in the S4C live match, making the long
journey south to Port Talbot. Mark Jones’ side will be looking to bounce back from their defeat at
Bangor, a result that left them three points adrift of a place in the top six. Jones will be hoping for
greater consistency in the run up to the mid-season split and this game looks a good opportunity for them
to get points on the board.
Airbus were replaced by Newtown at the bottom of the table, Bernie McNally’s side being one of three
clubs on six points. They entertain one of them, Carmarthen Town at Latham Park on Saturday, who are
one place above them on goal difference. This looks to be a big game for both sides as a win for either is
likely to lift them out of the relegation places.
The weekend’s fixtures are completed by Afan Lido travelling to Bastion Gardens to take on PrestatynTown. Neil Gibson’s side have been far from consistent this season, wh ich is reflected by their position
in mid table. Having said that, they are very difficult to beat, being likely to prove too strong for Andrew
Dyer’s side.
This weekend is the half way stage of the First Phase of fixtures and if carries on like this we can look
forward to an exciting run up to the short winter break.
