ARTS FESTIVAL
25-26 MAY 2018
K A L E I D O S C O P E
10am - 5.30pmincluding Gallery (sculpture, jewellery, ceramics),
live entertainment, artisan markets, food and wine, rides, sideshow alley, workshops and more.
Welcome to MAYO 2018It’s ten years since the first MAYO Arts Festival was launched onto the local arts scene, and it’s truly wonderful to see how much both the St Margaret’s and wider Brisbane community have embraced this celebration of the arts.
Held biennially, 2018 marks the sixth MAYO Arts Festival. Not only is it an event that highlights the importance of the arts at St Margaret’s, as part of the holistic education we seek to offer each child, it is a time we can all come together as a community and immerse ourselves in the festival experience and enjoy the wide-ranging activities and entertainment the day has in store for us all.
From the opening cocktail party on the Friday evening, which showcases some spectacular 3-D pieces from an array of talented artists, right through to “Last Drinks” on the terraces on Saturday evening, the festival promises something for the whole family including: artisan market stalls, plenty of fun rides, sideshow alley games and activities for the young and young at heart, gourmet food trucks and glorious sweet treats, music and entertainment, and creative workshops to unleash your inner artist. In addition, there are some truly amazing raffle prizes on offer – don’t forget to purchase tickets available on the day from the Arts Centre Foyer, Information Stall or from platinum sponsor Ocean Dynamics (visit their stall on Circular Drive).
I would like to thank all the wonderful supporters of the festival: our sponsors, parent volunteers, donators of goods and all the St Margaret’s staff who have worked for months to bring you the 2018 MAYO Arts Festival.
All you need to do now is grab your family and your friends and enjoy the celebrations.

COME AND TRY WORKSHOPS
Boarding House Island Dance Workshop
There are more than 100,000 islands that dot the Pacific Ocean forming Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia and not forgetting our beloved Torres Strait Island. Senior students and Mrs Gracemere Mataia from Boarding will be hosting a workshop teaching authentic Polynesian dance and culture. This workshop embodies the spirit of the islands, taking
you through a magical voyage in time, places, and legends leaving you with a Polynesian wanderlust. Our goal is to share and maintain this culture and lifestyle that is so dear to us through music, allowing you to try
our costumes, and dance to the beat of the drums.
