 1. Countable Nouns ( นามนบได )

เปนนามทสามารถแยกนบจำานวนหนง สอง สาม... ได ไมวาจะมหรอไมมรปรางกไดมรปราง (สามารถสมผสได ) – เชน dog, chair , tree, school, country, student, biscuitไมมรปราง  ( ไมสามารถสมผสได ) - เชน  day , month,

มทงรปเอกพจนและพหพจนเอกพจน :  เชน  dog,country,day,yearพหพจน:   เชน  dogs,countries,days,years

การใช  นามนบไดเอกพจน ตองนำาหนาดวย determiners  อยางใดอยางหนง  เชนI want an orange. (ไมใช I want orange.) Where is the bottle? ( ไมใช Where is bottle?) Do you want this book?

การใชนามนบไดพหพจนอาจจะนำาหนาดวย  articles หรอไมกได เชน I like to feed the birds. ( เฉพาะเจาะจง ตองม articles )Cats are interesting pets. ( ไมเฉพาะเจาะจง ไมตองม  article )I want those books on the table. ( those เปน determiners )

 2. Uncountable Nouns  ( นามนบไมได )

เปนนามทนบไมได เนองจากภาษาองกฤษมองสงนนในภาพรวมและคดวาไมสามารถจะแยกเปนสวนได  รวมทงความคด การกระทำาตางๆทเปนรปธรรม( abstract nouns ) ดวย เชน Concrete: เชน  water, milk, butter, furniture, luggage, iron,equipment,clothing,garbage, junkAbstract  : เชน anger, courage, satisfaction,happiness,knowledgeชอภาษา:  เชน English,German,Spainกฬาตางๆ :เชน hockey, football, tennis

Uncountable nouns ททำาหนาทประธานของประโยค จะตองใช verb ดวยหลกการเดยวกบคำานามเอกพจน เชนButter is fattening. ( เนยทำาใหอวน )

ปกตจะมรปเปนเอกพจน   แตทำาใหเปนพหพจนไดโดยบอกจำานวนตามภาชนะทบรรจ กลม นำาหนก และลกษณะนาม เชนtwo cups of water, three pieces of information, five patches of sunlight three games of hockey, two lumps of sugar
