    Purpose Statement

    The job of Web Portal Architect was established for the purpose/s of assisting in the planning, development, maintenance an

    management of the Microsoft SharePoint district portal (internal and external); to provide technical guidance and expertise to th

    web team; to assist with customer training of all portal applications to include written documentation and oral presentations.

    This job is distinguished from similar jobs by the following characteristics: The position is responsible for architectural design, serv

    Essential Functions

    Attends various district meetings for the purpose of communications and stakeholder input.

    Builds custom applications for SharePoint using C# and ASP.Net for the purpose of helping customers meet their busines

    objectives.

    Continues to learn new technical areas such as system advancements, relational database design and web development skills fothe purpose of architecting, delivering and maintaining a reliable and stable technology infrastructure appropriate to support the co

    instructional mission of the district.

    Creates business workflows and has an in-depth understanding of the capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2010 fo

    the purpose of helping customers meet their business objectives.

    Creates tools for collaboration, enterprise search, and enterprise content management for the purpose of improving communicatio

    within departments, divisions and throughout the district.

    Develops instructional materials for the purpose of training customers in the use of portal applications to meet their busines

    objectives.

    Evaluates Microsoft applications (SharePoint and related) and recommends migration/adoption as needed for the purpose architecting, delivering and maintaining a reliable and stable technology infrastructure appropriate to support the core instructiona

    mission of the district.

    Integrates systems currently being used into SharePoint maintaining a common display theme for the purpose of efficient

    providing customers a common location for their business activities.

    Provides technical guidance and expertise to the web team for the purpose of equipping web team members to provide optima

    customer service.

    Works with network specialists to troubleshoot connectivity or other portal related problems for the purpose of maintaining a reliab

    and stable technology infrastructure appropriate to support the core instructional mission of the district.

    Works with the instructional technology specialists, principals, teachers, and students for the purpose of developing an informatiointerface (through the SharePoint portal) that is meaningful and provides engaging digital learning opportunities to help students b

    more productive.

    Other Functions

    Assists other personnel as may be required in the completion of their work activities for the purpose of actively working to bui

    healthy partnerships throughout the district to better serve our customers in meeting their business objectives.

    Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit can be met.

    Facilitates work and communication between the units within Information Services for the purpose of actively working to buil

    healthy partnerships throughout the district to better serve our customers in meeting their business objectives.

    Maintains current knowledge of computer hardware and software in use in the district for the purpose of architecting, delivering an

    maintaining a reliable and stable technology infrastructure appropriate to support the core instructional mission of the district.

    Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient, effective functioning of the work unit.

    Responsibility

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional liftin

    carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; a

    significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 90% sitting, 5% walking, and 5% standing. This job is performed in

    generally clean and healthy environment.

    Working Environment

    Bachelors degree in job related area.

    Job related experience within specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.Experience

    Education

    Bachelors degree in Technology. Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in computer science or software

    engineering and four years of increasingly responsible experience in programming and database design with lead

    experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and ability required to perform the work

    Four years of programming and supporting a Microsoft SharePoint environment (2007 or higher). Development

    experience with Microsoft.Net technologies required (ASP.NET 2.0/3.0, C#). Development experience with Microsoft

    technologies desirable (XML, IIS, SQL Server).
