Valentine’s Day is :•celebrated on 14th of February;
•traditional day for lovers in many countries;
•many people give cards, letters, flowers, chocolate or presents to their spouse or partner.

Story no. 1 : Lupercalia
•old Roman celebration
•on 15th of February
•Lupercus: god of crops and fertility
• Unmarried people played a game
• Women put their names on a paper in a big jar
• Each men drew a paper and spend the festival dancing with the woman he picked
Story no. 2 : Saint Valentin
•in the 3rd century A.D. the Roman Emperor Claudius II forbade marriages
•Valentine was a Christian priest that performed marriages in secret
•for this reason he was caught and imprisoned
• while in prison he fell in love with the jailer’s blind daughter
• with his abilities he cured her blindness
• before dying he sent her a letter signed ‘From your Valentine’ • he died on February 14th

• cupid- symbol of love & desire(Roman god of love, son of Venus)
• heart- symbol of love & passion(the shape comes from the silphium plant’s,
used in ancient times as a contraceptive)
