A DIGEST OF SIGNIFICANT WORLD NEWS FROM THE PHILADELPHIA TRUMPETSTAFF FOR THE WEEK OF NOV. 6-12, 2011

THEWORLDis xated on Europe. On Greeces new government, onthe details surrounding Silvio

    Berlusconis resignation, on the yields

on Italian government bonds, on theContinents contracting economies, onthe rise and fall of the euro.

But theres an odd dimension to allthe attention Europe is getting.

While many are looking, very, veryfew actually understand what they are

witnessing.Take the recent melee in the Greek government. The crisis

began October 31, when Greek Prime Minister George Papan-dreou jeopardized the recently created Greek bailout packageand infuriated eurozone leaders by announcing he wouldallow the Greek populace to vote on the austerity conditionsensconced within the bailout package. Although Papandreou

reneged two days later, he couldnt stop the tumultuous chainof events that resulted in his resignation Sunday.

With Greeces government in turmoil and the future ofEurope at stake, eurozone ofcials swooped in. First, ratherthan leave the decision of who should lead Greece to Greek

voters in a national election, European elitesusing bailoutmoney as leveragecommanded Athens to form a nationalunity government.

Once it had formed a national unity government, Athenswas told it would have to provide written guarantees toBrussels that it would approve the austerity package thatwas part of the deal to receive bailout money. Olli Rehn, the European commissioner for economic and nancial af-fairs, told Athens it would not receive an $11 billion bailout

installment until the assurances were made.Grasp what is happening here. Greece is a sovereign

nation of 11 million people, andor so weve been led tobelievea valued member of the European community.Butover the last week, European elites have blackmailed Athensinto foregoing a democratic election, establishing a unitygovernment and then agreeing to pass into Greek law a seriesof harsh, transformative rules that were created in Brussels.

And this wasnt even the most dramatic development inGreece this week.

That came yesterday, when news leaked that Greecesleaders had followed orders and selectedas opposed to theGreek populace electingparliamentary speaker Filippos

Petsalnikos to be the new prime minister. Mr. Petsalnikosspedigree is intriguing.

Petsalnikos spent most of the 60s and 70s residing inGermany, where he was a leading member of the Panhel-

lenic Liberation Movement, a Greek political party createdto oppose Greeces 1967-1974 military dictatorship. In 1974,Petsalnikos helped found PASOK, the Panhellic SocialistMovement (now one of the main political parties in Greece),and was one of its most active leaders in Germany duringthe 70s. Mr. Petsalnikos speaks uent German, is marriedto a German lawyer, and for years was a leading gure inthe Greek community in Germany. In April 2009, the Ger-man government awarded him the German Grand Cross

with Star for his work in Greek-German relations. No sooner had this news emerged, however, than the

deal on forming a Greek national unity government col-lapsed and the position of prime minister was up for grabsagain. The latest news indicates that former European

Central Bank Vice President Lucas Papademos is the topcandidate after feuding in the political parties blockedPetsalnikoss candidacy. Throughout his career, Papademoshas held high-level nancial jobs in Europe and is said tobe well respected in European political circles, particu-larly in Germany and France. By all indications, he too is aleader who would be loyal to Brussels.

In other words, it appears Germany is on the brink ofinstalling one of its own men on the Greek throne!

Not content with this victory, Berlin and Brussels are al-ready maneuvering to do the same in Italy. When the newsbroke yesterday that Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi willresign, it was reported that he was simply another casualtyof Europes debt crisis. But the truth is more sinister. Mr.

Berlusconi has aroused the ire of European elites in recentmonths due to his slow-footed approach to addressingItalys nancial issues. This week, as the crisis peaked, of-cials in Brussels and Berlin ramped up pressure on Berlus-coni to get economic reforms and the 2012 budget passed inItalys parliament. In order to get the votes needed to passthe legislation, Berlusconi had to promise to resign.

Its not clear right now who Italys next prime ministerwill be. The spotlight is on Mario Monti, an experiencedeconomist and politician and a former European commis-sioner. Not surprisingly, Mr. Monti is a tried and tested Eu-rophile with a record of putting Brussels before Rome. As a

MIDDLE EASTnIran on threshold of nuclear capability: Iran has worked, withhelp from foreign experts, to design nuclear weapons and is likely stillconducting secret research on the project, the United Nations nuclear

watchdog said in a report released Tuesday. The report, produced bythe International Atomic Energy Agency, said many facets of Irans

secret weapons programs went on past the 2003 date the United Stateshad believed was when Tehran stopped all nuclear arms development.

Among the ndings that were of gravest concern to UN inspectors wasthe amount of uranium being enriched to 20 percent in facilities in thecity of Qom. Uranium enriched to 3.5 percent is what is required for ci-

vilian energy purposes. Once it is enriched to 20 percent, the uraniumcan be used for medical purposes. It is a long and tedious process to gofrom 3.5 percent to 20 percent, but it is much easier to go from 20 per-cent up to 90 percent, which is the grade required for nuclear weapons. The true signicance of a nuclear-armed Iran, wrote Courcys Intel-ligence Briefon November 9, lies not in the threat of a direct attack, but rather that an Iranian nuclear deterrent would prevent Israel fromusing its own nuclear weapons to defeat an overwhelming conventionalattack from its Arab neighbors. Israel came close to doing exactly this

during the Yom Kippur War of 1973, and (as chief of staff Benny Gantzhas admitted) Israels strategic environment could soon become worsethan in 1973, with the possibility of Jordan, Hezbollah, the Palestinianterritories, Turkey, and Iran all being added to Egypt and Syria in thebalance against Israel.nPakistans nukes are getting more dangerous: The threat ofnuclear war is high and rising, says an independent British think tank, the British American Security Information Council. Nuclear weaponsare present today in some of the most unstable and violence proneregions of the world, and in Northeast Asia, the Middle East and South

Asia, there are serious conict and proliferation concerns that suggestan increased potential for nuclear weapons use, it wrote. One of thebiggest concerns is the fastest-growing nuclear arsenal in the world:Pakistan. It is on course to become the worlds fourth-largest nuclear

power, above France and the UK. Since the U.S. killed Osama binLaden in May, Pakistan has become more concerned about keeping itsweapons securefrom the U.S.TheAtlanticreports that the Pakistanigovernment is willing to make its nuclear weapons more vulnerable totheft by jihadists simply to hide them from the United States, the coun -try that funds much of its military budget (December).nAnother earthquake in Turkey:An earthquake in the city of

Van in eastern Turkey on Wednesday killed at least seven people. Themagnitude-5.7 quake follows the devastating magnitude-7.2 tembloron October 23 that hit the same area, killing more than 600 people andleaving thousands homeless. Jesus Christ prophesied that earthquakes

would occur in different places in the end time (Matthew 24:7)thetime we are living in now.

    Iranian InuenceSeeping Into Iraq

IRANSPRESENCEis already visible in Iraq, from the droves of pilgrimsat Shiite holy sites to the brands of yoghurt and jams on groceryshelves. But now Iraqis are bracing for a potential escalation of Per-

sian inuence as the U.S. military leaves at the end of the year.

Irans Top LeadersBelieve That the Endof Days Has ComeWHYWOULDIran authorize a major terrorist op-

eration on American soil? Skeptics say the mucdiscussed foiled Iranian plot makes no sense But Iranian leaders may, in fact, have a motivto accelerate direct attacks on the U.S.: ShiaIslamic eschatology, or End Times theology.

Irans Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and PresideMahmoud Ahmadinejad are convinced that tEnd of Days has come. They believe the Shiamessiah known as the Twelfth Imam or theMahdi will appear soon to establish a globaIslamic kingdom known as the caliphate.

Whats more, they believe the way to hastethe coming of the Twelfth Imam is to annihi-late Israel (which they call the Little Satan),

and the United States (which they call theGreat Satan).

Khamenei told Iranians in July 2010 that hpersonally met with the Twelfth Imam. He alsclaimed to be the personal representative ofthe Mahdi on Earth, and said all Muslims muobey him. Meanwhile, Western intelligenceagencies say he continues to work with Ahmadinejad and the Iranian military to developnuclear warheads and the ballistic missiles todeliver them.

Irans leaders actually believe that the de-struction of the U.S. is foreordained . They sU.S. economic weakness as a sign that the end

of America is near. To truly understand justhow dangerous Irans regime really is, Ameri-can leaders need to better understand Shiaeschatology. Shias believe the Mahdi will return in the last days to establish righteousnesjustice and peace. When he comes, they say, thMahdi will bring Jesus with him. Jesus will ba Muslim and will serve as his deputy and hwill force non-Muslims to choose between fol-lowing the Mahdi or death.

Some believe [the Mahdi] will emerge fromthe well at the Jamkaran Mosque in Iran andthen travel to Mecca and Iraq. Some say that hwill conquer Jerusalem before establishing his

caliphate in Iraq. Others believe Jerusalem mube conquered as a prerequisite to his return.

He is expected to conquer the Arabian Peninsula, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, Egypt andNorth Africa, and eventually the entire worldDuring this time, he and Jesus will kill be-tween 60 and 80 percent of the worlds popultion, specically those who refuse to convert tIslam.

In light of such End Times theology, weshouldnt be surprised that the Iranian regimis taking a more aggressive posture towardsthe U.S. and Israel.

Its a natural step, most agree, for the only two Shiite Muslim-ledgovernments in the Sunni-dominated Mideast to expand their relation-ship. But its a ne line for Iraq to walk, with even many in Iraqs Shiitemajority wary of infringement of their countrys sovereignty and afraidof being overrun by the Iranian theocracy.

From politics and weapons to pilgrims and consumer products,Iraqis have for years stood by as Iranian inuence seeped in. Its beengalling for many still bitter over the destruction that Iran heaped on

their homes during the eight-year war in the 1980s that left a half-mil-lion people dead.

Top Iranian ofcials maintain they are only strengthening diplo-matic and economic ties with Iraq, as they have sought to do since the2003 ouster of Saddam Hussein. American ofcials, however, have longfeared what they describe as Iranian meddling in Iraqand its poten-tial to sow unrest across the Mideast. Those worries were a chief driverof failed efforts to leave at least several thousand American troops inIraq beyond the December 31 withdrawal deadline.

At least three Shiite militias backed by Iran ramped up attacks onU.S. troops in Iraq this year in a warning not to stay beyond the dead-line. U.S. and Iraqi intelligence ofcials said Iran supplied the militia-men with weapons, training and millions of dollars in funding. Those

    militias strength will no

doubt give them inuence inIraq after the withdrawal.

During a trip last week toBaghdad, Iranian ForeignMinister Ali Akbar Salehidescribed the neighborly re-lationship as two branchesbelonging to one tree anddismissed U.S. accusationsof interference.

EUROPEnThe euros dramatic week: The interest rates on Italys 10-yeargovernment bonds rose past 7 percent, July 9. When the 10-year bondsof Greece, Portugal and Ireland exceeded this threshold they had to askfor a bailout. But the European Union currently has no way of bailingout Italy. Its fund is too small. If the interest rate doesnt fall soon

which it hasnt for any other eurozone nationthen the eurozone willhave to make some big changes. Already, Germany is dictating the gov-ernments of eurozone nations. Over the last week, European elites haveblackmailed Athens into foregoing a democratic election, establishing aunity government and then agreeing to pass into Greek law a series ofharsh, transformative rules that were created in Brussels. Italian PrimeMinister Silvio Berlusconi dared to suggest that Italy might get on ne

without the EU. He has been forced to announce that he will resign.German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on November 9 that the solu-tion to the problem will mean more Europe, not less Europe. She said,

It is time for a breakthrough to a new Europe. A community that says, regardless of what happens in the rest of the world, that it can neveragain change its ground rules, that community simply cant survive.Expect Germany to remake Europe the way it wants to.nFrance begins austerity measures: French Prime Minis-ter Francois Fillon announced a new austerity package on Monday that

will reduce spending by 65 billion over the next ve years as Franceghts to keep its AAArating. We wish to protect the French against thegrave problems facing other European countries, said Fillon. Bank-ruptcy is not an abstract word. France must make these sacrices

Now that Iraq has been taken out of thepicture, Iran is even closer to becoming thereigning king of the Middle East. It may seemshocking, given the U.S. presence in theregion right now, but prophecy indicates that,in pursuit of its goal, Iran will probably takeover Iraq.

    Gerald Flurry, Trumpet, June 2003

With FriendsLike TheseTHESLURSagainst Prime Minister Benja-min Netanyahu voiced by French Presi-dent Nicolas Sarkozy and U.S. Presi-

dent Barack Obama after last weeksG-20 summit were revealing as well asrepugnant. Thinking no one other thanObama could hear him, Sarkozy at-tacked Netanyahu, saying, I cant standto see him anymore, hes a liar. Obamaresponded by whining, Youre fed up

with him, but me, I have to deal withhim every day.

These statements are interestingboth for what they say about the twopresidents characters and for what theysay about the way that Israel is per-ceived by the West more generally.

To understand why this is the caseit is necessary to rst ask, when hasNetanyahu ever lied to Sarkozy andObama? This week the UN Internation-al Atomic Energy Agencys report aboutIrans nuclear weapons program madeclear that IsraelNetanyahu includedhas been telling the truth about Iranand its nuclear ambitions all along. Incontrast, world leaders have been lyingand burying their heads in the sand.

So if Netanyahu never lied aboutIran, what might these two major worldleaders think he lies about? Why dont

they want to speak with him anymore?Could it be they dont like the way he ismanaging their beloved peace process

with the Palestinians? The fact is thatthe only times Netanyahu has spokenless than truthfully about the Pales-tinians were those instances when hesought to appease the likes of Obamaand Sarkozy. Because the truth is thatIsrael never had a chance of achievingpeace with the Palestinians.

So why do the likes of Sarkozy andObama hate Netanyahu? Why is he aliar? Why dont they pour out their

venom on Abbas, who really does lie tothem on a regular basis? The answeris because they prefer to blame Israelrather than acknowledge that theirpositive assessments of the Palestiniansare nothing more than fantasy.

And they are not alone. And that isthe real message of the Obama-Sarkozyexchange last week. Through it we learnthat blaming the Jews and the Jewishstate for their enemies behavior is whatpasses for polite conversation among

    Western elites today.

to avoid the day where policies are imposed upon us by others, hesaid. This comes less than three months after Frances last announcedausterity measures. Under the new measures, France will increase itsretirement age from 60 to 62, increase the sales tax on books, publictransport, restaurant meals and other items, reduce health-care spend-ing, and temporarily increase corporation tax. Frances struggles tomaintain its AAArating prove an important point. Some commentatorstalk about Europe being led by a Franco-German axis. But that is not

true. France does not have the resources to bail out impoverished na -tions. It could need a bailout itself soon. He who pays the piper calls thetune. France is not the one paying, so it isnt calling the shots.nGermany: War is legitimate foreign policy: The GermanCouncil on Foreign Relations is opening up a debate in Germany viaits leading periodicalInternationale Politikon how Germany views itsmilitary. Its senior editor observes that postwar German society hasdifculty openly discussing powerwhich in the end includes militaryforce (No. 6/2011). In its current edition, the periodical quotes Germa-nys defense minister, Thomas de Maizire, as declaring that Militarymeans are the ultimate and not merely the last means. Commentingon the continuing reform measures of the Bundeswehr (initiated by hispredecessor Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg), Maizire stated that Thequestion of the deployment of our armed forces will most likely be posed

more often in the future, with the Bundeswehr becoming consistentlyoriented toward deployability and

a large range of capabilities alsoinvolving high-intensity combatmissions. In the same journal, Lt.Col. Christian Freuding (Ret.), amember of the German DefenseMinistrys planning staff, points tothe Balkan wars as having contri-bution to regional stabilization byyielding a strategic advantage toEurope. This is a blatant admissionthat Germany had but one motivein destabilizing the Balkans when,

with papal support, it initiated conict in the region by the unilateralrecognition of Slovenia and Croatia as separate nation states. German-Foreign-Policy.com comments that the debate on Germanys need for anew approach to militarism is really geared to achieving the will of Ber-lin elites as summed up by the current edition ofInternationale Politik:

The culture of military restraint must give way to a culture of responsi-bility. Being mindful of Germanys history, German-Foreign-Policy.comobserves that culture of responsibility means nothing more than thereadiness to willingly support a growing number of the Bundeswehrscombat missions (November 2).nGermany sees the need to downsize Europe: Germany isready to push nations out of the eurozone, say analysts, after Germanyand France threatened to kick Greece out last week. Only a short whileago, any idea of a Greek exit from economic and monetary union (EMU)

was rejected by Eurocrats as entertained only in the ravings of mad-men, wrote David Marsh for the Wall Street Journals Market Watch.

Yet it suddenly became bitter reality after Athens Premier George Pa-pandreous since-rescinded referendum call. Now some experts thinkGermany will push Europe down this path. Jim ONeill, chairman ofGoldman Sachs Asset Management, told theSunday Telegraph:TheGermans want more scal unity and much tougher central observa-tionwith the idea of a nance ministry. The future of other nationsin the eurozone is actually questionable, he said. The Greeks have achoice: reforms within the eurozone or no reforms and leave, GermanEconomics Minister Philipp Rsler said. There is no third way. TheGreek government must at least understand that at some point ourpatience will end, he said.

ITWASbut a glance, a little smirk that the Ger-man and French leaders shared in public when

asked aboutItalysprime minister,Silvio Ber-lusconi, and his countrys economic woes. Butthat moment at a recent crisis meeting madeit very clear where Italyand everyone elsestands in the eurozone pecking order.

Many Europeans realize that their futuresare being increasingly dictated by Germa-ny and Francein that order of importance... The two leaders are pressing nancialremedies in lock-step with market forces andfaceless ofcials from institutions such asthe International Monetary Fund and the Eu-ropean Central Bank.

There is grumbling across the continent

and an anti-German tone to street protestsin Greece, reections of a fear that millions aregiving up some control over their lives. Even

while they acknowledge that economic reformare necessary, people in Europes nanciallystrapped countries worry that the price is aloss of sovereignty. We were supposed to bepartners on the same level, but were not, said

Armando Romangolo, a 50-year-old baristaspeaking above the din of a cappuccino ma-chine at a cafe in central Rome.

On Wednesday, a team of about 20 Eu-ropean Union inspectors arrived in Italy toask, among other things, that the Treasury

Ministry produce a list of state-owned assetsthat could be sold. Next week the IMFwill visibefore it begins to monitor Italys nancesand adherence to reforms demanded by theEU in return for help in nancing the nations$2.6-trillion debt.

This crisis is profoundly transformingEuropean integration, said Nicolas Veron,a senior fellow at Bruegel, a think tank inBrussels. As a result, the eurozone will eitherbreak up or establish a new central body withexecutive powers, he said.

Germany is now pushing for greaterEuropean integration. Even the Netherlands,

which has typied Northern Europe in its disapproval of its more free-spending southernneighbors, has proposed the idea of a euro-zone nance minister. Many analysts agreethat one solution would be for the EuropeanCentral Bank to act as the lender of last resorIn Italys case, that would mean acting as aguarantor of its bonds. But Germany, fearfulfrom its past experience with hyperination, has nixed the idea.

And Italians, like many others across thecontinent, see little choice now but to dothings Germanys way.

Nuke Report AngersGermany and Its Allies

GERMANYANDits allies have angrily lashed out against Iran after

the UN nuclear watchdog published its harshest report yet onTehrans nuclear program, saying it had sought to build atomic

warheads. If Iran continues to refuse to conduct serious negotiationson its nuclear program, new, more severe sanctions would be inevi-table, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said, calling thereport alarming. He added that discussions with European partnersand allies were underway, although he ruled out any military response.

France demanded unprecedented UN Security Council sanctions ifIrans deance continued, the EU said its concerns were seriously ag-gravated and even ally China said Iran must be sincere after Tuesdayssearing IAEAreport. The International Atomic Energy Agency said ithad serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iransnuclear program, prompting Tehran to insist it would not budge aniota from its nuclear path.

The European Union said the report seriously aggravates exist-ing concerns over a military dimension in Tehrans nuclear program.

Overall these ndings strongly indicate the existence of a full-edgednuclear weapons development program in Iran, said Maja Kocijancic, spokeswoman for EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.

EUROPEANUNIONmonitors arrive inRome as early as Wednesday to keeptabs on Italys leaders. Greece is poisedfor a cross-party government just daysafter the European Commission presi-dent called for one. A select group of Eu-ropean leaders dubbed the Frankfurtgroup now meets to set the course ofthe eurozone.

[T]he dramatic events of the past twoweeks have given voters and nationalgovernments a preview of what morecentralized control over their economic

policymaking will look like. The suddenaggressiveness of Brussels institutions, particularly the frequently malignedEuropean Commission, has raisedhackles and not only in Italy and Greece,

where critics complain their nationalsovereignty is being encroached. It alsohas drawn complaints from smallereurozone countries such as Finland andthe Netherlands that believe a smallclique of leaders should not be settingpolicy for 17 members of the single cur-rency.

But a series of reforms little noticed

outside Brussels has already giventhe EU more power to intrude in thenational decision making of eurozonegovernments. In the midst of a spiral-ing crisis, European ofcials are alsosuddenly eager to use them. Yes, wakeup and smell the coffee. This is what

you all signed up for, said one Commis-sion ofcial. People want to make suregovernments arent cooking the booksanymore.

It is, in fact, a fragile balance be-tween effectiveness and legitimacy, aeurozone diplomat said.

Merkel Seeks to EaseGerman Arms Exports

    C

HANCELLORANGELAMerkel is seeking to make it easier for the Ger-

equately considered when it comes to export controls on arms shipments. That German exports have remained strong despite the brewing

crisis in Europe is hardly a secret. Indeed, a new report emerged onTuesday indicating that exports actually climbed in October by 0.9 per-cent relative to September. In comparison to September 2010, exportseven skyrocketed by a hefty 10.5 percent.

[O]ne of the Merkel administrations primary focal points whenit comes to arms are exports to Saudi Arabia, despite the countrysautocratic regime. In the future, Berlin hopes, it will become easier todeliver dual-use goods, armaments and weapons to the Gulf country.

Already, Germany has delivered a factory to Saudi Arabia for the manu-facture of assault ries and has exported a border control system. More

controversially, Merkels government in July reportedly approved theexport of 270 Leopard IIbattle tanks to Saudi Arabia.

another set of sanctions against Iran and expressed anger over the UNspublication of the report. Since the report provides strong evidence thatRussia aided Iran in its nuclear program, Moscows defense of Tehrancomes as no surprise. Economist Nouriel Roubini said on Twit-ter: It will be soon an end-game for theeurozone: restructurings and exits till break-up. Slow motion train wreck. The secretplans being drawn up are for the creationof a smaller eurozone consisting of fewer

members who would push towards econom-ic and scal union.

Britain would be excluded from the neweconomic grouping, to the delight of manyEurocrats.

French and German ofcials have alreadyset up a secretive cabal known as the Frank-furt Group to pursue their federalist agendaand bully Britain. The Brussels sourceinsisted the plan was not about creating atwo-tier Europe but a radical re-drawing ofthe entire euro project. Mr. Cameron, in hisstarkest assessment of the crisis yet, con-rmed that the government was engrossed

in contingency planning for the unraveling ofthe single currency.

Conrming that the governments contin-gency planning for a euro break-up was wellunder way, he said: We have a plan. Theresa lot of scenario planning, thinking about allpossible outcomes. We have to deal with theworld as it is.

Conceding that preparations for an eco-nomic doomsday scenario were under way, hesaid: Certainly it affects our trade and poten-tially, in this Armageddon narrative, it affectsthe banking system, but were not there yet.

Its the details ofhow it is coming about that keep us rivetedto news and intelligence emanating fromthe major players.

Greece and Italy were the main featurestories of the week. Theres little doubtthat conditions are ripe for a right-wingnationalist swing in Italy.

The situation in Greece is but the endoutcome of Germanys drive to colonizethe whole Balkan Peninsula.

In absolute accordance with Bibleprophecy for our time, the prophesiedrising king of the north has, within barely20 years following the fall of the BerlinWall, economically colonized the entireregion from Slovenia in the north to theMediterranean Island of Crete.

Take a quick look at a map of Europe. The Balkan Peninsula lies southand eastofBerlin. Thats the exactdirection in whichthe end-time king of the north was proph-esied to move in its conquering of territorythat eventually would end with it marchingintoJerusalem! That prophecy was pennedby the Prophet Daniel under divine inspi-ration well over 2,500 years ago!And itshappening right before your eyes today!

Read it in your own Bible: And out ofone of them came forth a little horn, whichwaxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleas-

Its a sad day in this country when politicallycorrect censorship trumps patriotism.

    Fifty PercentWelfare Nation

ITHASbecome all too easy today to receive government assistance.Half of all babies born in the U.S. today receive food assistance, andhalf of all children live in a home that will use food assistance at

some point during their childhood. Forty percent of the population inWashington, D.C. is on welfare. Between 2000 and 2010 the numberof Americans receiving food assistance more than doubled, expandingto over 47 million, which is more than one-seventh of the population.Forty years ago, only 4.3 million Americans received food assistance.

EUROPESESCALATINGdebt crisis has cast ablack shadow over the worlds fragile recov-ery, threatening to tip large parts of the globa

economy into a deep downturn and even out-right recession.

The OECDs index of leading indicators forChina, India, Brazil, Canada, Britain and theeurozone have all tipped below the warningline of 100, with the pace of the decline in Europe exceeding the onset of the Great Contraction in early 2008.

Prof. Simon Johnson, a former chief economist at the IMF, rattled nerves earlier this weeby warning the world is looking straight intothe face of a great depression.

The grim data is coming thick and fast.Japans machinery orders fell 8.2 percent in

September . Export orders have been declining for eight months. Outright contractionis possible in the quarters ahead, said MarkCliffe from ING. Exports in the Philippinesdropped 27 percent in September, the sharpefall in two years. Koreas exports have showedsharply, caused by a 20 percent slide in ship-ments to Europe.

Christine Lagarde, the IMFs chief, warnedin Asia that there are dark clouds gathering ithe global economy. Countries need to preparfor any storm that might reach their shores. She said adverse feedback loops are at workas nancial stress and economic woes feed on

each other.Chinas carefully managed soft landing has

turned uncomfortably hard, with ripple effectthrough the commodity markets. Spot iron-oprices have dropped 30 percent since July .Copper prices have fallen 20 percent since August. Barclays Capital said the risk of contagioto China has become serious.

Humayun Shahryar from the hedge fundAuvest said the eurozone faces a major eco-nomic collapse, perhaps with double-digit fain GDP. European banks are massively over-leeraged and almost every one is worthless if yomark to market. This is going to be worse tha

2008 because they have run out of bullets. Thsovereign states are not strong enough to stan

behind the banks, he said. Fiscal and monetary stimulus has disguise

the underlying sickness in the debt-laden ecoomies of the West over the past two years. Thheavy make-up has at last faded away, exposithe awful visage beneath.

It is a delicate moment. The risk of a synchrnized slump in Europe, the U.S. and East Asiais bad enough. What is chilling is to face sucha possibility with the monetary pedal alreadypushed to the oor in the U.S., UK and Japan.

not poor. We are the wealthiest nation in the world. Almost half ofall households do not even pay any federal income tax. The problem isthat welfare is not just provided to the handicapped and unemployed; itis distributed to the lower middle working class and their children. In

Arizona, a single parent with four children making up to around $3000in income per month is eligible to receive $800 a month in food assis-tance and $400 or more in cash assistance per month.

Half of food stamp aid goes to individuals who have received aid for

8.5 years or more. The 2009 stimulus act removed the requirement thatable-bodied recipients without children work at least half-time in orderto receive food assistance, and increased the maximum food assistancelevel by 13 percent. Some states are waiving limits on the amount ofsavings someone on food assistance may have. Food assistance no lon-ger comes in the form of embarrassing food stamps, but through a debitcard that looks just like any other debit or credit card.

Welfare assistance comes in many forms, including cash, food stamps, public housing, energy assistance, Medicaid, free school lunches and WIC,

which is a food assistance program for women and their children. $700billion is spent annually on welfare. This does not even include the costof education or the use of emergency rooms by the uninsured.

It is true that many Americans have lost their jobs due to the reces -sion. But the increase in welfare has gone up much faster than the

unemployment rate. Americans must rid themselves of the entitlementmentality when it comes to jobs. No one is entitled to their rst choiceof employment. There are jobs available; Americans must quit thinkingthey are too good for them. It is better overall to be gainfully employedas a security guard or working at McDonalds, than living off thegovernment dole. Americans must also drop the entitlement mentality

when it comes to food and materialism, and instead learn to live withintheir means. Cell phones, big-screen TVs, eating out frequently, and newcars are luxuries, not necessities.

Welfare is devastating for children. Long-term welfare dependency re-duces a childs intellect by one-third when compared with other similarchildren. In order to reduce the growing, unaffordable dependency thathas crept up over the past few years, encouraged by our government, itmust be impressed upon Americans how we are ruining our children.

    Sliding TowardForeclosure

OFTHE55-million families with mortgages, 10.4-million of them aresliding toward failure and foreclosurea tragedy that will de-press the U.S. housing market for years to come . Thats the blunt

conclusion of distinguished economics journalist William Greider .

Americas Economic recovery wil l have to wait until that surplus(excess houses) is gone, because the housing sector has always led theway out of recession, Greider says. The more housing supply exceedsdemand, the more prices fall. The more prices fall, the more familiesget sucked into the deep muddy. The vicious cycle is known as thedeath spiral. So far, theres no end in sight.

Greider says the solution is to forgive the debtors: Write down theprincipal they owe on their mortgage so they will no longer be under -

water. Renance the loan with a reduced interest rate, so the monthlypayment is at a level that the struggling homeowner can handle.

Forgiving the debtors is the right thing to do, Greider continues, be-cause the bankers have already been forgiven when the government

    bailed them out.

THEJUSTICEDepartmentsmission is to enforce thelaw and defend the interestsof all Americans. Eric

Holders Justice Depart-ment is making a mockeryout of its supposed mission.

Last year the Justice Department asked thNinth Circuit Court to allow other countries tdispute the constitutionality of Arizonas newimmigration lawwithin American courts.Thats right: He asked the court to allow othercountries to attack one of Americas 50 states

And, astoundingly, the Ninth Circuitagreed. It accepted briefs attacking Arizonaslaw from 11 countries including such stalwartfriends as Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, Nicargua and Bolivia.

Then, in order to prove how America istrying to improve its human rights record, the State Department submitted the Arizonaimmigration law to a United Nations humanrights report.

This is almost too inane for words. What ainsult. Submitting Americas human rights record to review by countries like Saudi Arabia,Angola and Egyptnations that allow hus-bands to beat their wives and that kill peoplefor criticizing Mohammad.

And why is America looking to nations likeEcuador and Bolivia for advice on the consti-tutionality of American law? Why would the

Justice Department help foreigners push theilaws on Americans?

It is obvious that these American lead-ersand even Americas courtsdont valueAmericas Constitution.

President Obama himself famously statedthat the Constitution reects some deep awin American culture and that it reected thefundamental aw of this country that contin-ues to this day.

If you really understand what the JusticeDepartment and the Federal administrationare doing, you know it goes beyond simply novaluingthe constitution. They actually want t

destroy it.The Bible talks about a time when justice

would leave the land. In Isaiah 59, God warnsthat because people have forgotten Him and Hcommands, judgment is turned away back-ward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth isfallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

Our mission is to enforce the law and defenthe interests of all Americans. The JusticeDepartment needs a new mission statementbecause it is trampling all over this one. Perhaone about defending the interests of foreign nations over the people of the United States.

European commissioner, Monti authored a report on the establishmentof a European single market that included measures by which Brusselscould extend its reach into the nancial matters of EU member states.

Watch Italy closely, and be assured: Whoever Italys next prime min-ister is, he will undoubtedly be a pawn in the hands of German elites!

Its hard to overstate the signicance of these events. We are witness-ing THEECONOMICCOLONIZATIONOFEUROPEBYSTEALTHBYTHEGERMANS,

wrote Simon Heffer this week (emphasis added throughout). In the past, itwould have taken an invading military force to topple the leadership of aEuropean nation. Today, it can be done through sheer economic pressure,he wrote. Thats an alarming statement when you really think on it.

Yesterday, Reuters, citing EU ofcials, reported that German andFrench ofcials have already discussed plans for a radical overhaul of

the European Union that would involve establishing a more integratedand potentially smaller eurozone. Apparently this cabal of elites inParis, Berlin and Brussels have discussed the possibility of some EU na-tions leaving the euro while the others forge ahead into deeper econom-ic and political integration.

Germany is reshaping Europe into a distinctly Teutonic edice. Itis time for a breakthrough to a new Europe, stated German Chancel -lor Angela Merkel yesterday. Just to make sure there was no ambiguityabout what this new Europe would look like, Merkel stated that this

will MEANMOREEUROPE, NOTLESSEUROPE.In an editorial this week, theDaily Mailwarned that increasingly, it

appears we are witnessing the death of democracy and the right of sov-ereign nations inside the eurozone to govern their own affairs. Finally, after years and decades, the ruthless ambitions of the elites guiding

the EU are being exposed. Were seeing that the EU has no interest inprotecting the sovereign European states, in defending the rights of theEuropean people. Rather, as the Trumpethas repeatedly warned, theEU is an undemocratic, German-led powerhouse engaged in a strategyto conquer, then subjugate, the sovereign states of Europe.

In fact, its all that and much,MUCHMORE!In an article last Friday, Archbishop Cranmer, the man behind one

of the top political blogs in Britain, got close to the truth of the matter. The German-led European Union is ESSENTIALLYTHERE-CREATIONOFTHEOLDEMPIREOFCHARLEMAGNE, he wrote. The EU today, he explained, haspicked up the mantle of Charlemagne, just like Otto the Great did inthe 10th century, then the Habsburg kings in the Middle Ages and thenNapoleon in the early 19th century.

If you know your European history, you know thats a chilling com-

parison! The spirit of Charlemagne still broods, he wrote. There is more to

come, he warned, as the same fate will befall Portugal, Italy and Spain,FORTHEPOWERFULLYFEDERALISTCHARACTEROFTHISPROJECTHASYETTOBEAPPRECIATED.

What about you? Can you appreciate what we are witnessing? Whilethe world is xated on the currency exchanges, on the bond yields andbailout packages, on the effect of Europes nancial crisis on globalstock markets and hedge funds, what are you seeing in Europe? Do

you see a continent being systematically conquered by an invigorated, empowered German nation?

The spirit of Charlemagne is brooding in Europe. Whether you see itlater or now is a matter of life and deathits that serious!

Greider quotes Stephen Roach, a Morgan Stanley economist whosays, Some form of debt forgiveness would be a clear positive. Withdebt reduction, people would feel less reluctant to spend money onnew things. If you can do that, then companies will feel more condentabout future demand, less reluctant about hiring more workers.

ABOUTAweek ago, theplanets 7 billionth per-

Somehothough, advancements in producing and managing resources have, to this point, overcomethe difculties. And people just keep multiplyingmore than 200,000 every day.

Still, evidence shows the trend cant hold.Serious questions loom over us about theconsequences of having so many people. In thworlds most populous nation, a burgeoning

middle class is suddenly demanding luxuriesthat have long been restricted to the Westernworld. Meanwhile, most all the worlds population growth is happening in the less developeareas. Of the 80 million babies born in develoing countries each year, 20 million are in theworlds poorest nations. Nearly a billion peoptoday lack access to safe water. More than a blion are undernourished.

Some radicals believe the world just needsfewer people, and promote various forms of poulation control. In China, over a third of mar-ried couples are restricted to having one child, policy that has contributed to forced abortions

and sterilizations, as well as female infanticideMany analysts say, though, that there are

plenty of resources to go around. Their sup-posed scarcity has many causes: bad leadersheconomic trouble, poverty and so on. In truththe problem isnt a lack of good resources, itslack of good resource management. It isnt toomany humansits too much human nature.

With many population- and resource-relatissues, mankind will hit an immovable wallsoon, and it is not difcult to imagine cata-strophic consequences: famines, economiesshutting down, societal upheaval, war. Theseare exactly the conditions biblical prophecy

reveals will besiege our world in its nal daysHowever, prophecy also reveals what lies

Indications are that durinthe Millennium, under Gods direction, withprinciples of good stewardship in place, thepopulation will grow well beyond 7 billion.
