advanced manufacturing process is given. Introduced new textbooks (Modern Manufacturing Processes by M. Koç, T. Özel, Wiley 2020, Micro-Manufacturing: Design and Manufacturing of Micro-Products by M. Koc and T. Özel, Wiley, 2011 and Biomedical Devices: Design, Prototyping and Manufacturing T. Özel, P. Bártolo, E. Ceretti, J. De Ciurana Gay, C. A. Rodriguez, J. Da Silva, Wiley, 2016).

[2] Simulation of Production Systems (16:540:555). Improved and revised. The course allowed students to focus on variety of simulation modeling software tools including discrete-event simulation as well as dynamic system simulations. Software tools such as AnyLogic, Matlab SimEvents, in addition to Arena as well as dynamic system simulations using Matlab Simulink were introduced.

[3] Manufacturing Processes and Control (16:540:572). Revised and offered this new graduate course since Spring 2003. This new course introduces the principles of mathematical modeling of manufacturing processes and machines for control purposes. Continuous and discrete-time systems, transformations from continuous to discrete and from discrete to continuous time systems, control system design, stability, and design by root-locus concepts are explored with examples. Practical applications including computer numerical control of machine tools and processes such as machining, coordinate measuring, laser shaping and solid free form fabrication are illustrated.

[4] Manufacturing Processes (14:540:303). Improved and revised. The course allowed students to learn about mechanical and manufacturing properties of materials, surface integrity and metrology, metal cutting principles, cutting tools and machine tools, and explore modern manufacturing processes such as metal forming, non-conventional material removal processes including EDM, ECM, LBM and polymer processing and extrusion, 3D printing and metal additive manufacturing. In the lab, new CNC exercises have been added to lab projects for designing and manufacturing a chess set. 3D-printing laboratory exercises are introduced by installing several 3D printing stations and teaching students about 3D product design and direct digital manufacturing technology. In Fall 2016, Manufacturing Processes Laboratory was reorganized by retrofitting four manual machine tools with digital readouts and by installing two new CNC machine tools with modern conversational programming capability.

[5] Computer Control of Manufacturing Systems (14:540:382). Improved and revised. The course reorganized so that students learned how to derive mathematical transfer functions of physical systems. Design and analysis of discrete-time control systems with open-loop and closed-loop control approaches were covered together with analysis of individual system components such as sensors, actuators, analog-to-digital conversion algorithms, and digital-to-analog conversion methods. Finally numerical control systems are covered. The course allowed students to focus on dynamic system control using Matlab Simulink simulations for both continuous-time systems and discrete-time systems.

[6] Automated Manufacturing Systems (14:540:486). Revised and offered this technical elective course every fall semester since Fall 2004. The course material covers modern and emerging computer aided manufacturing technology such as modern CAD/CAM/CAE software, CNC and other automated manufacturing machines, actuators, sensors, robotics, PLCs, basic communication networks as well as introduction of emerging topics such as micromanufacturing and biomanufacturing. The students are also required to complete a project by using modern CAD/CAM software and CNC systems available in the Department laboratories.

[7] Automation and Artificial Intelligence Enabled Manufacturing (14:540:586). Designing and offering this online Canvas master level course is planned in Fall 2020. The course material covers modern and emerging applications of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning tools in production and manufacturing technology such as automation systems, robotics, assembly systems, machine vision, augmented reality tools, Industry 4.0 examples and automated machines, actuators, sensors, robotics, PLCs, and 5G wireless networks. The course will be supported by the state-of-the-art modern technology such as 3D printers, conversational CNC machine tools, and laser systems available in the Department laboratories.
