Dedicated hardware module for each operation mode
Common hardware module for each operation mode
B100G signal transport over singlehardware module
(Case 1) Too many kinds of hardware modules. From the network operators’ viewpoint of inventory and stock, it is not desired.
(Case 2) One or a few kinds of hardware modules. Efficient network operation seems possible due to the decrease in inventory and stock. But some portion of hardware module is not used in some operation modes.

その他のWorking Assumption
Items assumed to be independent of IEEE decision on 400GbEWorking Assumption Document & Date
Any failure of an interface component is a failure of the interface, i.e. no partial fault recovery is being planned. TD15/G, March 2013Since 100G tributary slots could be considered a combination of ten 10G tributary slots, it was agreed that going forward, we can say that Q11/15 is working under the assumption that the B100G interfaces will be based on 10G tributary slots.
TD15/G, March 2013
Minimum bit rate per optical tributary signal of the multi-vendor IaDI is 50-56Gb/s (i.e. 1/8th of the total bit rate) COM15-R6, July 2013New OTN interface rate based on modules of 100G (n x 100G) Only certain values of n will be standardized Initial standardized IrDI rate will be ~400G, n=4, and capable of carrying 400GbE
COM15-R6, July 2013
All components of the interface go through the same OMS trails, i.e. the new n x 100G OTN signal will be managed as a single entity
COM15-R6, July 2013
The n x 100G “OTU equivalent” signal is a Section layer with no requirement for TCM COM15-R6, July 2013FEC code(s) for single-vendor IaDI FEC will not be selected or standardized COM15-R6, July 2013FEC for IrDI will be hard decision FEC COM15-R6, July 2013Fault isolation may use fault detection mechanisms and/or utilize on demand mechanisms, down to the level of replaceable element or level of potential misconfiguration
COM15-R6, July 2013
Optical modules will maintain bit order within a logical lane (if defined for an OTUCn) and will maintain bit order within a physical lane if logical and physical lanes are the same
TD22r1/G
The new B100G interface(s) should carry the expected IEEE 400GbE PCS in the same way, regardless of the lower layers (e.g. PMD, PMA and FEC). This assumes that the IEEE FEC will be terminated at the Ethernet UNI port.
TD79/G, October 2013
The multiplexing of all B100G clients would be mapped into an ODUflex and then into new B100G ODU/OTU like structures. Any lower rate ODUk and ODUflex signals could be mapped directly into 10G tributary slots of the new B100G ODU-like structure, though most users may prefer to multiplex ODUk and ODUflex with bit rates significantly lower than 10G into an intermediate ODUk for more efficient use of the B100G capacity. See figure in Annex A.
TD79/G, October 2013
The functional model for a B100G interface is illustrated in Annex B. TD79/G, October 2013 The B100G interface overhead is documented in Annex B. TD79/G, October 2013

その他のWorking Assumption (続き)
Items based on assumptions of what IEEE will specify for 400GbEWorking Assumption Document
& DateBasis Assumption
Minimum bit rate per physical lane for the planned 400G IrDI are assumed to be in the 25-28Gb/s range (i.e. 1/16th of the total bit rate)
COM15-R6, July 2013
Assumes a desire to re-use 400GbE MLD interfaces for OTN B100G, and that IEEE will not choose a 10G PHY lane rateCandidate physical lane rates include 28G, 40G, 56G, each physical lane will carry one or more logical lanes, since we don’t know what IEEE will choose
New 400G IrDI sized to carry 4 x ODU4should be large enough to carry 400GbE
COM15-R6, July 2013
Assuming the IEEE will define 400GbE to be 400Gb/s and any additional higher bit rate association with the PHY would be terminated at the point where it is mapped into the OTN
Logical lane rate is 5Gb/s (i.e. 1/80th of the total bit rate) until more is known about the IEEE decisions on 400GbE
COM15-R6, July 2013
Assumes IEEE chooses 5Gb/s logical lanes again or some multiple of 5Gb/s. If IEEE chooses a higher rate, Q11/15 may choose to increase the B100G logical lane rate also.
Items waiting on IEEE decisions on 400GbEWorking Assumption Document
& DateBasis Assumption
Selection of the physical and logical lane rateswill be influenced by IEEE decisions on 400GbE, at least for the IrDI
TD15/GMarch 2013
Assumes a desire to re-use 400GbE MLD interfaces for OTN B100G
Logical lane assignment to physical lanes for the IrDI will be influenced by IEEE 400GbE specifications
