earthquake or volcanic eruption,which can
travel at a speed of 50 km/h in either
direction
6
Causes:there are different causes of this phenomeno:volvanic, seismological, eartquake
*occur when a large vertical displacement of water, which occurs when the seabed suffer some kind of alteration affecting the vertical column of water above it.this is when the seabed sinks or rises, when the large body of water that is on that part of the bed tries to catch up with the rest waves occur
The energy of the TSUNAMI remains more or less constant during the movement, so that upon reaching shallow zones, having less water than displace, the speed increases so terrific. A TSUNAMI than offshore felt like a big wave can, to reach the coast, destroying even kilometers offshore. Producing turbulence in the seabed carries rocks and sand which causes damage to the beach erosion reaching geography altering for many years.
