Customer Focus: Tesco Offshore Services was approached by the customer when unable to get their 9.625” casing string to bottom. Tesco advised the customer that the internal Casing Drive System™(CDS™) with the addition of Multi Lobe Torque (MLT) rings would be the best solution for the application. In utilizing the CDS the client was able to get the casing string to bottom by rotating, reciprocating and pumping whilst tripping in hole. Installing MLT rings enabled the client to rotate through tight spots without concerns of exceeding the make-up torque of the Buttress connection. True Result: The customer acknowledged that the flexibility, ease of use, and safe operation of the CDS added value to their offshore operations. The CDS provided the ability to safely and conveniently pick up, stab, and make up connections. The removal of the conventional stabber from the derrick, introduction of automation and reduced head count minimized risk of injury and improved overall safety during the tubular running operation. Proven Performance: Tesco completed the job in a safe and timely fashion; achieving total depth with no complications confirms the ability of the internal CDS and Tesco’s operations. The CDS eliminates risks associated with bulky equipment, suspension lines, and back up lines in the derrick or on the rig floor. The CDS can be quickly installed to any top drive system with few or no modifications. With the reduction of rig personnel the CDS can improve productivity and enhance work site safety.
