Training a necessity

• Power industry is a multi-disciplinary, highly capital intensive industry. Human element is the most vital input of the power sector. Power generating stations required technically trained manpower for the project planning, implementation, erection commissioning, testing, O&M including Transmission and Distribution of power.

• Formal studies in the educational institutes do not equip a person with knowledge of different inputs required for the job performance in the power sector.

• Special training becomes essential for a personal at every level in the industry to keep abrest with rapidly advancing state of the art in the power industry.

To achieve the objective of providing total concept of

ABOUT NPTI NER Guwahati

• National Power Training Institute, Guwahati is conducting high quality training courses in various facets of Generation, Transmission, Distribution and also Renewable energy. It is an established name in the Indian power sector.

• It is located in its own 15-acre campus with office buildings, Laboratories, Hostels, Guest house, Canteens and Residential colony. During the last 16 years, the Institute has trained many power sector personnel in the area of Generation, Transmission & Distribution of Power, who are manning various important positions in Power Sector of the Country.

• The Institute has experienced Faculty Members and Trainers.

• It is only institute with a attached 132/33 KV Grid with State Load Despatch Centre(SLDC) facility of AEGCL(Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited) which helps the trainees to understand various concepts with practical site visit .

• Suryamitra Program :NPTI-NER conducts 12 Weeks SPV Installer Skill Development Course sponsored by Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE),Govt. of India & National Institute of Solar Energy. The SPV Installer Course is for ITI (Electrician, Electronics, Wireman, Fitter) andDiploma (Electrical/ Mechanical/ Electrical) passed out students respectively. Special Course on Disaster Risk Reduction Management • Power Sector is one of the most important infrastructure of the country, as growth of this sector is directly correlated with the economic growth of the

country. Any disruption in Power Sector due to Crisis / Disaster creates hardship to the human beings, as every aspect of human life is directly or indirectly associated with the electricity.

• India has experienced many natural disasters such as drought, flood, earthquakes and cyclones during the past. It has also experienced many manmade crises such as terrorist attacks, bomb explosions, strikes, fires etc.

• The natural disasters / man-made disasters always involve losses / damage of infrastructure of the country. In order to eliminate or if not possible, to minimize damage/disruption in generation, transmission and distribution of electricity sector, it becomes extremely important to evolve crisis / disaster management plan for this sector.

• The very purpose of this course is to evolve more proactive, holistic and integrated approach of strengthening disaster preparedness, mitigation and emergency response in event of disaster taking place.

• NPTI NER Guwahati already conducted a three days course in collaboration with Assam State Disaster Management Authority for the power sector on Disaster Risk Reduction Management .Similar courses can be conducted as per requirement by the power sector utilities.

EDP- Entrepreneurship Development Programme

• NPTI NER Guwahati has conducted two no's of Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) of one week duration on Solar PV System for Science and Engineering Graduates in collaboration with Ministry Of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE) and National Institute Of Solar Energy(NISE) under MNRE-USAID PACE-D TA Program.

• Two Days technical assistance program for utility engineers on Solar PV Systems in in collaboration with Ministry Of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE) and National Institute Of Solar Energy(NISE) under MNRE-USAID PACE-D TA Program.

• DDUGKY is uniquely focused on rural youth between the ages of 15 and 35 years from poor families. The DDU-GKY skilling ecosystem consists of The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) , National Mission Management Unit (NMMU)state Missions, Project Implementing Agencies and Technical Support Agencies. • IPDS- Integrated Power Development Scheme .

• NPTI –NER is working as Project Management Agency (PMA) for IPDS projects of Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd.

• Ministry of Power, Government of India notified “Integrated Power Development Scheme" (IPDS) with following components:

i. Strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution networks in the urban areas.

ii. Metering of distribution transformers / feeders / consumers in the urban areas.

iii. IT enablement of distribution sector and strengthening of distribution network under R-APDRP for 12th and 13th Plans by

carrying forward the approved outlay for R-APDRP to IPDS.

iv. Schemes for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and IT enablement.

v. Underground cabling to include additional demand of States and smart metering solution for performing UDAY States and Solar

panels on Govt. buildings with net-metering are also permissible under the scheme.
