You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence. — Acts 2:28
TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — God has raised the crucified Jesus, who now pours forth the Holy Spirit upon us (Acts 2:14, 22-33).
Psalm — Lord, you will show us the path of life (Psalm 16).
Second Reading — Our faith and hope are in God, who raised Jesus from the dead (1 Peter 1:17-21). Gospel — Through his words and in the breaking of the bread, the risen Christ made himself known to two disciples on their way to Emmaus (Luke 24:13-35).

GOD’S PLAN
Saint Peter speaks to us twice today. In the first reading, we hear an excerpt from his sermon on Pentecost; in the second, part of his first letter. Once a frightened, uneducated fisherman who often said just the wrong thing, now Peter is speaking what he knows to be true. Everything Jesus had said now makes sense. His death and rising were all part of God’s plan, and our faith and hope can be centered on God.
Today’s Gospel tells the story of Jesus’ walk to Emmaus with two of the disciples. Frightened, sad, and confused, the two of them don’t recognize Jesus, who tells them what we heard Peter say above: All this had to happen as part of God’s plan. In the end, these disciples recognize Jesus as we are to recognize him—in the breaking of the bread. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

FIRE
Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire. —St. Catherine of Siena
STAY WITH US, LORD
Walk with us, Lord, along the road of resurrection! Explain for us, so slow to believe, the things that Scripture says of you. Break the bread of the Eucharist with us whenever we share our lives with our brothers and sisters. Stay with us each time night approaches and the daylight fades in our hearts!

Third Sunday of Easter - Stewardship
The disciples on the road to Emmaus walked and talked
with Jesus all day long, but it was not until they offered
Him hospitality and He blessed and broke the bread that
they recognized Him. Simple acts of loving kindness still reveal the
presence of God in our midst.
Vision: To make God, Father, Son & Holy Spirit—known, loved and
served.
Mission: St. Bartholomew is committed to forming dynamic Catholic
Christian disciples through prayer, the Word, Sacraments and
Evangelization.
Saint Benedict News St. Benedict Catholic School Parish Announcement The Coronavirus has temporarily altered the way we deliver Catholic education but it hasn’t altered the commitment that our faculty, staff and students have toward Catholic education and the St. Benedict motto of prayer, service and academic excel-lence. We have a staff opening for the 2020-21 school year and SBCS wants you to consider this opportunity. Come and join our St. Benedict Catholic School team. We are seeking a kindergarten teacher for the 2020-21 school year. This early childhood candi-date is enthusiastic knowledgeable and compassionate. Interest-ed applicants should send their resume to Dr. Kathy McCool, Principal, [email protected]. Telephone 251-986-8143 for additional information.
The parish office will be open from 8 AM to 12 noon each day
to take your calls and answer questions. The front door of
the church will be opened from 8 AM to 12 Noon Monday
thru Friday. Your are welcome to go in and pray.
Please take care of yourself and your family and follow the
guidelines for protecting them.
“We all look forward to the day when public Masses will resume in our Archdiocese. Although the suspension of public Masses had been extended through this week, it must again be extended indefinitely. Let us pray that public Masses will resume soon. This will depend upon medical advice and civil authorities. -Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi
For those who cannot receive Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament at this time, Archbishop Rodi suggests the
following prayer:
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
Amen.
-St. Alphonsus Ligori
Although there have not been any congregation Masses since the
virus started, St Bartholomew has been busy with repairs and
modifications:
The Electric lights in the church have been updated to
LED lights and exit signs and emergency lights have
been added for your safety.
The North and South side doors and the Sacristy door
and the door to the altar servers room have been
changed to enable parishioners to exit with the
outside being locked for their safety.
The altar carpet and the cushions and kneelers of the
pew have been cleaned and sanitized as have all the
other chairs in the church and the chapel.
The fire suppressor in the parish hall kitchen has been replaced.
The parish hall floors have been stripped and
waxed and are beautiful.
Most of these projects were covered by the contributions
dropped off at the office or in the mail. Thank you for your
support during these tough times!
