Das High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI®)

ist die aktuell am meisten verbreitete Schnittstellen-

technik in der modernen Unterhaltungselektronik.

Aufgrund ihrer volldigitalen Datenübertragung

liefert sie immer ein bestmögliches Signal.

Ihre Vorteile: Einfachheit, Verlässlichkeit und

Leistung.

Einfachheit

• anders als bspw. in der DVI-Technologie (Digital

Visual Interface), überträgt HDMI® sowohl Bild-

als auch Tondaten durch ein einziges Kabel–es

umfasst 19 einzelne Datenleitungen für unter-

schiedliche Aufgabengebiete,

• HDMI®-Kabel ermöglichen eine bidirektionale

Kommunikation von Geräten. Ab der neuesten

Generation (gemäß HDMI®-Richtlinie 1.4) können

sie damit sogar separat eingesetzte Kabel für

Internetverbindungen (Ethernet Channel) oder

die Tonübertragung komplett ersetzen

(Audio Return Channel).

Verlässlichkeit

• HDMI® ist zum Marktstandard geworden: fast

100% aller relevanten Endgeräte besitzen heut-

zutage einen oder mehrere HDMI®-Anschlüsse,

• alle HDMI®-fähigen Geräte verwenden dieselben

Steckertypen - egal ob TV, Heimkinosystem,

Spielekonsole oder Videokamera. Es gilt lediglich

die drei Steckergrößen Standard, Mini und Micro

auseinanderzuhalten,

Leistung

• HDMI® kann enorme Datenmengen transpor-

tieren und verarbeiten. Datenströme von bis zu

10.2 Gigabyte/Sek. sorgen somit für kristall-

klaren Ton, hochauflösende Bilder und zukünftig

auch 3-dimensionales Fernsehen,

• da es sich um eine intelligente 2-Wege-Verbin-

dung handelt, ist es per HDMI® möglich, dass

verschiedene Endgeräte miteinander kommuni-

zieren und interagieren können (bspw. Inhalte

austauschen, Bild-/Toneinstellungen optimieren,

mehrere Geräte gleichzeitig ein-/ausschalten),

• aufgrund der Digitaltechnik, sind HDMI®-Kabel

auch für die Überbrückung längerer Distanzen

gut geeignet. Anders als bei analogen Techniken,

nimmt die Datenqualität dabei nicht ab, lediglich

die transportierbaren Datenmengen – es findet

jedoch keine nachträgliche Umformung oder

Kompression von Audio/Video-Daten statt.

The High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI®) is

currently the most widely used interface technology

in consumer electronics. Because of its fully digital

data transmission, it always delivers an optimum

signal. Its advantanges are: simplicity, reliability,

and performance.

Simplicity

• unlike DVI technology (Digital Visual Interface),

HDMI® transmits both, video and audio data, via

one single cable - including 19 individual data

lines for various ranges of tasks,

• HDMI® cables enable bi-directional communi-

cation of devices. Starting from the latest gene-

ration (according to HDMI® Guideline 1.4) you can

even use them to entirely replace cables separately

used for internet connections (Ethernet Channel),

or sound transmission (Audio Return Channel).

Reliability

• HDMI® has become the market standard:

nowadays, almost 100% of all relevant terminals

have one, or several HDMI® connectors,

Welcher Kabeltyp ist der Richtige?Gemäß der HDMI®-Richtlinie 1.4 aus dem November

Which cable type is the right one?According to HDMI® Guideline 1.4 from November

2009, cable products are no longer to be distin-

guished by any version description. Despite of this,

cable types can easily be distiniguished in the future.

Instead of version numbers, two new classification

types will be used for the home sector in the future:

the Standard HDMI® cable, and the High Speed

HDMI® cable.

Standard HDMI® Cable

• a standard HDMI® cable is suitable for most home

application ranges,

• conformant to the Category 1 Performance Test, it is

capable of transmitting a 1080i/720p image signal

using a 75 MHz transmission frequency over a

distance of 15 meters, and a data rate of at least

2.2 Gigabyte/sec.,

• a standard HDMI® cable is the right choice for

most of all HD resolutions, e.g. required for high

resolution cable and satellite TV, or high scaled

DVD players.

High Speed HDMI® Cable

• High Speed HDMI® cables are suitable for home

application ranges with high requirements, such

as 3D TV, Deep Color, or 4k x 2k resolutions,

• conformant to the Category 2 Performance Tests, it

is capable of transmitting a 1080p image signal

using a 340 MHz transmission frequency over a

distance of 7.5 meters, and a data rate of at least

10.2 Gigabyte/sec.,

• a High Speed HDMI® cable is the right choice for

end users having a full HDTV (1080p) and an

appropriate data source, such as a Blu-ray Player,

• Clicktronic® lists all cables longer than 7.5 m

as standard HDMI® cable according to test crite

ria, even if they were originally designed as High

Speed HDMI® cable, and provide a significantly

extra performance also over larger distances, if

required.

… with Ethernet

• in order to take into account the growing conver-

gence of Internet and TV, all HDMI cable types can

also be purchased with a network channel as an

option,

• these cable types deliver the same performance

data as their fellow models, but additionally pro-

vide a new, dedicated network channel for device

communication (HEC: HDMI Ethernet Channel,

ARC: Audio Return Channel),

• a HDMI® cable including network (with Ethernet)

is the correct choice for all users operating a device

with separate Internet connection, e.g. game con-

soles, or digital video recorders with network

connection.
