1 Symposium Notice

Dear distinguished guests and delegates,

On behalf of CRICOM and College of Civil Engineering of Shenzhen University, we warmly welcome you

to attend CRICOM 2012 held in Shenzhen University. In order to ensure that the symposium runs smoothly

and orderly, please pay attention to the following notices:

1. All guests and delegates who attend the conference, please wear your badge to enter the symposium.

Simultaneous Interpretation will be provided.

2. All guests who stay in Grand View Hotel or New Year Hotel, please take your breakfast using breakfast

vouchers in hotel. Lunch buffets on November 17th and 18th will be provided in staff canteen of Shenzhen

University. We had arranged the shuttle buses between the above 2 hotels and the conference

venue-Technology Building, Shenzhen University at 08:30 in the morning in front of the hotels on 17th-18th

November, 2012.

3. The weather in Shenzhen changes frequently in November. It is usually cool in the morning and

evening. Please keep yourself warm. If you are not feeling well, please notify the Conference Organizing

Committee for help.

4. Please do check-in by yourself at the reception desk of Grand View Hotel or New Year Hotel under

room reservation name of “CRIOCM 2012”. The room fee will be paid by yourself.

5. Please contact the business center of hotel, if you need to book return flight or railway tickets.

6. If you hope to travel around Shenzhen after the closure of conference, please contact the travel agency

in the conference venue and arrange your accommodation and itinerary by your own.

7. Please read the symposium guide carefully, in order to fully understand the relevant arrangements for

序进行，请您注意如下事项：

1.参加会议的嘉宾和代表请佩戴胸牌进入会场，会议配有同声传译。

2.入住新桃园酒店和新年酒店的参会代表请凭餐券就餐，早餐由所住酒店提供，11 月 17 日和 18 日午餐由

1. Prof. Miroslaw J. Skibniewski

Professor of Construction Engineering and Management, University of Maryland (teaching and

research in advanced project management systems, legal aspects of engineering selection,

management of construction equipment and information technology for civil engineering and

construction project management).

Prof.Skibniewski received his M.Eng. degree from Warsaw University of Technology, and M.S.

and Ph.D. degrees from Carnegie Mellon University. Prof.Skibniewski is also a graduate of the

Harvard University Graduate School of Education Management Development Program. A

former professor and administrator at Purdue University for 20 years, he also served as Visiting

Professor at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Loughborough University, Pontifical Catholic

University of Chile, Austral University, Bialystok Technical University, Warsaw University of Technology, Slovak Technical

University, Technical University of Munich, Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore.

Prof.Skibniewski served on the U.S. National Academy of Engineering USA-Germany and USA-Japan Frontiers of

Engineering committees, on the American Society of Civil Engineers' Robotics and Field Sensing , Information

Technology , and Intelligent Computing committees, various task forces of the Construction Industry Institute based at the

University of Texas at Austin, and on the U.S. National Academy of Sciences Assessment Panel for Construction

Automation and Computer Integrated Construction Programs at the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Prof.Skibniewski was a founding member of the Board of Directors and President of the International Association for

Automation and Robotics in Construction. A recipient of the American Society of Civil Engineers' Walter L. Huber

Research Prize, he is a Foreign Member of the Russian Academy of Engineering and a holder of an honorary doctorate

from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.

Prof.Skibniewski is also the Editor-in-Chief of Automation in Construction, an international research journal published by

Elsevier, and North American Editor of the Journal of Civil Engineering and Management published by Taylor & Francis.

2. Prof. Lieyun Ding 丁烈云

President of Northeastern University, Director of BIM Centre of Huazhong University of Science

and Technology.

Professor Ding received his PhD degree in Tongji University. He used to be the vice president of

Huazhong University of Science and Technology, chair of the university council of Central China

Normal University. He became the president of Northeastern University in January 2011.

Professor Ding has been in charge of multiple national key projects, and is the deputy director

of the Management Division of Science and Technology Committee of Education Ministry, the

chairman of the Architectural Society of China–Construction Management Research Sector

(ASC–CMRS), deputy chairman of the Chinese Society of Metals, and the director of National Board of Construction

Management Accreditation. He also is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Civil Engineering and Management (published in

China) and an editor of Automation in Construction and Journal of Construction Engineering and Management.

His research interests include digitalized construction engineering and safety and risk management. Professor Ding has

won the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2nd class as the director of “Key Technologies and Application

of Integrated Construction for Digital Rail Transit”, the Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, 1st class

as the director of “Research and Application of Construction Engineering Quality Collaborative Control Platform Based on

Lean Construction”, and the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Progress Award, 1st class as the director of

“Study on Safety Risk Identification and Early-warning Technology for Metro Construction”. His book Real Estate

Development has been awarded the Excellent Textbook.

3. Prof. Kwong Wing Chau

Professor Chau Kwong Wing is the Acting Head and Chair Professor of Department of

Real Estate and Construction of The University of Hong Kong.

He obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from The University of Hong Kong.

Professor Chau has been teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at The

University of Hong Kong since 1987. Professor Chau is also guest professor of Tsinghua

University, Tongji University and Tianjin University. He was also the president of the

International Real Estate Society (2000-01) and first president of the Asian Real Estate Society

(1996-7). Professor Chau received the International Real Estate Society Achievement Award in

1999. The award is presented once annually to an individual in recognition of his/her achievements in real estate research,

education and practices at the international level. In 1999 he also received The University of Hong Kong Outstanding

Young Researcher Award. Professor Chau’s main areas of research are real estate investment, real estate finance and

economics, construction economics, building performance assessment and performance of the real estate and

construction sectors. Most of his works are empirical studies with implications for policy makers, developers and investors.

He has published and presented more than 150 technical and academic papers. Professor Chau also serves on the

editorial boards of more then 10 international peer-reviewed academic journals. He has taught and supervised many

postgraduate students. Many of his graduates are now holding key positions in industry and academia.

4. Prof. Roger Richard

Roger-Bruno RICHARD,M.Arch. (U.C. Berkeley), Architect registered in Quebec (OAQ), is

Professor of Architecture at the Université de Montréal, leading the Design & Systems for

Construction (DSC) profile in the professional M.Arch. program and teaching Architectural

Design / Industrialised Building Systems / Housing. He was Director of that School for a period

of ten years (1989-1999) and President of the Canadian Architectural Certification Board

(CACB) in 1997-98.

His research is aiming at applying the strategies & technologies of industrialisation in order to

simplify the production of buildings, offer adaptability through space & time and deliver

affordable quality architecture to the vast majority of people. His Generic Classification of Industrialised Building Systems

was notably featured in the book “Open Building Manufacturing: Core Concepts and Industrial Requirements” published

in 2007 by the European “ManuBuild” consortium as well as in the “State of the Art” book on industrialised building

published in 2010 by the International Building Council for research and innovation in construction (CIB).

Roger is the author of three “Load-Bearing Service Core” residential systems: hybrid solutions where the Service Area is

concentrated in factory-made 3-D modules acting as sole load-bearing structure to slabs/curtain wall/partitions generating

the Served Area. He also developed various technological and functional innovations in housing, including five built

passive solar residential buildings, several manufactured housing prototypes and the “City over the Park” proposal.

Roger-Bruno Richard was granted a Research Fellowship at the University of Tokyo by the Japanese Society for the

Promotion of Science (JSPS) and was invited as visiting scholar at the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong.

5. Mr. Zhida Liu 刘志达

6. Mr. Roger Liao 廖敏毅

Manager, Quanzhi Engineering in Shanghai; B.S.D. in Civil Engineering, Shenzhen University.

Mr. Roger Liao has 17 years experience in engineering and construction working for

international firms including ASTRON Building System, BCHF (Beca Carter Holling Ferner),

Foster Wheeler, URS. He was co-founder of a German project management company i.e.

Bencer Project Management (Shanghai) Co., Ltd in 2009. He joined Quanzhi and founded

Quanzhi Engineering in Shanghai as EPCM and EPC operation center in 2011. He has good

technical background and communication skills supporting his leadership in a project. He is a

structure engineer with 6 years experience in pre-engineered metal building and 11 years with

international firms serving mostly the western clients. In his career path, he has served the roles including structural design

engineer, technical support engineer, design manager, project manager, and project director. His project experience

includes industry building, civil building, and commercial building. He is familiar with various construction approaches

including greenfield building, extension, build to suit, fit-ut, Build-Transfer etc.
