From the study –

“The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all of the saints. Amen.”

(Revelation 22:21)

These are the very last words of the Bible. The last words of any piece of literature may not be the

most important, but these linger and serve almost as a benediction.

The Biblical story is filled with high drama beginning with the dawn of creation through wandering

nomads, from a birth of a baby through the earth-shattering news of a resurrection. Stories of grace

and forgiveness, redemption and love – all ends with a gentle blessing – “the grace of the Lord Jesus

be with all the saints.”

Of all the ways we may try to put words to God’s love for us, the best way is to talk about God’s grace.

A gift freely offered to all – not because of who we are – or how ‘good’ we may or may not be – but

simply out of a divine love for us all.

November begins with our celebrating those saints we have lost in

the past year, and then ends with the beginning of advent. How

easy it is to find ourselves caught up in the hectic pace of an already

busy season. Yet even in the midst of all, God’s word is a word of

grace. Hearing that word of grace can help us look at ourselves and

the world differently. At some time during the month, we may all

pause to give thanks – for blessings and gifts beyond measure or

imagination. Grateful, most of all, that itself is a gift of grace.

See you in church!

Consecration Sunday Is Coming

Biblically, financial stewardship is more than money Christians

give to their church merely as a way to pay its bills. Rather,

Christian stewardship is a way people grow spiritually in their

relationship with God by supporting their church’s mission and

ministry with a percentage of their incomes.

This year we will be participating in the New Consecration Sunday

Stewardship Program as a way to teach the biblical and spiritual

principles of generous giving in our stewardship education

emphasis this year.

New Consecration Sunday is based on the biblical philosophy of

the need of the giver to give for his or her own spiritual

development, rather than on the need of the church to receive.

Our belief is that followers of Jesus Christ want to give unselfishly

as an act of discipleship. New Consecration Sunday encourages

people toward proportionate and systematic giving in response to

the question, “What percentage of my income is God calling me

to give?”

During morning worship on Consecration Sunday, you will be

asked to make a commitment to our church’s missionary,

benevolent, and educational ministries in this community and

around the world.

Everyone who completes an Estimate of Giving Card does so

voluntarily by attending morning worship on Consecration

Sunday. We will do no home solicitation to ask people to

complete cards. During morning worship our guest leader will

conduct a brief period of instruction and inspiration, climaxed by

members making their commitments as a confidential act of

worship.

We encourage your participation in Consecration Sunday events

through the Consecration Sunday team. Since we will make no

follow-up visits to ask people to complete their cards, we will

make every effort to inform, inspire, and commit everyone to

attend Consecration Sunday worship.

Thanks in advance for your enthusiastic participation in

Consecration Sunday events.
