Nine Hours, which opened in Kyoto in 2009, has received a high rating and maximises function and appeal as a capsule hotel. Their concept is the base of sleep, and seeks to maximise the quality of your sleep, heal-ing your tired body after traveling. During your 9-hour stay, you are allotted 1 hour to shower, 7 hours to sleep and 1 hour to get ready. The simple white-themed design of the interior and exterior of the hotel and the amenities give off a feeling of refinement.

Nine Hours has recently started a service at Narita Airport. They are garnering a good reputation among visitors from all over the world because their floors are separated by gender and most of the instructions in the hotel are explained by illustrations, not writ-ten in Japanese.

You are able to claim some expenses as tax deductions in your income tax return but what can you claim? This article considers the basic rules for tax deductions.

Firstly to claim a tax deduction for an expense you must have spent the money during the year in which you are claiming the expense. For example, for an expense to be claimed in your 2015 tax return you will need to have spent the money between 1 July 2014 and 30 June 2015. If you spent the money but were reimbursed, or will be reimbursed by your employer you cannot claim the expense. This is also the case where you spent the money during one tax year but are not reimbursed until the next tax year.

Secondly the expense must be related to your taxable income and must not be of a private or domestic nature or of a capital nature. If an expense is of a capital nature, for example the purchase of a computer that you use for work, you may be entitled to claim a tax deduction for depreciation. Where an expense is partly for work purposes and partly for private purposes you can only claim the work related portion. For example, you may use your home internet partly for work purposes. To claim a part of the cost you will need to determine the work related percentage of the internet usage and keep a record of how you have calculated the percentage.

Thi rd ly, you need have documents to substantiate the expenses claimed as you may need to provide these to the Australian Taxation Office in the event of an audit. The documents you need to keep include invoices and receipts for expenses and details of how you have determined the work related percentages claimed. These records generally need to be kept by you for five years.

An item that is generally not tax deductible is travel from home to work and work to home. This is considered a private expense. Also you cannot claim fines such as parking or speeding fines. If you claim clothing expenses these must relate to protective or occupation specific clothing or uniforms. Also take care when claiming self-education expenses as these are often questioned by the tax office.

It is important that you only claim expenses for which you are entitled to claim. If your expense claims are rejected by the tax office you will be liable to repay the tax refunded that resulted from the deductions and you may also be liable to pay penalties and interest. Prime Minister Tony Abbott said this was a momentous day, completing a trifecta of trade deals with Australia's major trading partners, Korea, Japan and now China.

MELBOURNE, June 14 AAPWomen who have struggled to s tar t a

family for years have become pregnant under an Australian trial of a new in-vitro fertilisation treatment.

Associate Professor Louise Hull says 20 couples have participated in the Adelaide trial so far with a 43 per cent pregnancy success rate.

The couples have all had a lot of IVF treatments, poor embryo development or have suffered miscarriages.

"We're hoping that it is helping couples who just need more than standard IVF," s a i d A s s o c P r o f H u l l , r e s e a r c h e r a t the Univers i ty of Adela ide ' s Robinson Research Institute and Fertility SA fertility specialist.

"We've had good pregnancy rates in the group of patients where they've had a lot of treatment before, so we think that's a group that's going to most benefit from it."

The Adelaide trial and another in Japan are the first to use the BlastGen treatment option, the next phase of an EmbryoGen t r i a l u s i n g a t r e a t m e n t d e v e l o p e d b y University of Adelaide researchers.

Assoc Prof Hull said the Adelaide trial had the most advanced pregnancy, with a woman now at the 24-25 week mark.

officially better in Melbourne.In a world ranking of the most liveable

c i t ies , Monocle 's 2015 Qual i ty of Life Survey has put Melbourne in fourth place, just ahead on Sydney on fifth.

But Sydney is on the rise, climbing to fifth from 11th, while Melbourne was bumped from third.

investment in Australia. As well, Australia will eliminate the final five per cent tariff on Chinese imports - meaning cheaper c a r s , e l e c t r o n i c s a n d white goods f o r Australian consumers.

Both EmbryoGen and BlastGen contain a growth factor or signalling molecule called GM-CSF, which is found naturally in the mother's uterus and protects the embryo from stress, making it stronger and more robust in the days after conception.

"By using the BlastGen treatment for IVF, the embryo is being cultured in an environment that closely mimics what occurs naturally in a mother during conception," Assoc Prof Hull said.

"As a r e su l t t he embryos g row in a more natural environment than they do in traditional IVF treatments."

The embryos cultured in the EmbryoGen media w e r e transferred a t d a y t h r e e , whereas BlastGen uses an additional two days.

Assoc Prof Hull said the extra two days seemed to be helping the embryos.

"If you're putting them back on day three you know a third of those embryos won't take, whereas if you grow them out i t 's a way of selecting ones that are going to give you the best chance of pregnancy," Assoc Prof Hull said.

She said it meant there could be single embryo transfers, reducing the need to put two back at once and therefore the risk of twins.
