Advantages of a Newsletter The purpose of this newsletter is to provide specialized infor-

mation to the sisters of Kappa Delta Chi, interests, as well those

who took part in our fundraising. This month we are spreading

    awareness on womans health.

Awareness of Womens Health This semester we are hoping to share our knowledge and concerns

on the matters of a womans health. A womans well being is

scarcely explained as one matures into adulthood. We are not only

focusing on breast cancer, we are also focusing on women's health

education, cervical cancer, autism, mental disorders, and physical

health. This semester we are trying to target each one so that women

of all ages can be informed if they so desire.

    THE GENUINE PENGUIN

    NEWSLETTER

RUSH Week This semester our Rush Week went well. We met a good amount of

ladies that attended our events. We had a cupcake event and a game

night that we felt were our best events considering how closer we

got with the ladies. This semester we are trying to promote Kappa

Delta Chi as we help the potential inter-

ests raise their GPA if they so desire.

We are interested in having a fine Class

for Fall 2015. We have been keeping in

touch with the ladies as well as sending

them invites for our events; we provide

them with newsletters so that they can follow us and know that their

service and company was well appreciated.

  • Local Womens Shelter Cervical Cancer

This Month we made Safe-Sex roses

for gentlemen and ladies. They were

free for all, however, we were accept-

ing donations so that we could purchase

feminine products such as pads and

wipes. The idea was inspired by an arti-

cle one of our sisters read indicating

    how homeless women struggle with

their feminine needs. How did Safe-Sex

flowers tie in with the theme?

Condoms are lubricated so that the cervix does not tare. If there is a

tare in the cervix then, around the month that all women dread,

there is a possibility that the young lady will get an infection. TMI,

I know but this semester we are educating on women's health.

Thank you to those who donated and those who shared the roses

with loved ones. All proceeds went to a local womens shelter.

    Upcoming Events

February 28th (Closed Event) We are going to have a aquatic experience. One of our sisters, Claudia, will be hosting a swimming exercise at her apartments INDOOR pool! This is going to pro-mote womens physical health. We will be sending out emails of the location as well as provide rides for those invited.

March 21st There will be a Dia De La Mujer con-ference. The sisters of Kappa Delta Chi will be volunteering that day, come out and show sup-port! If you are interested in volunteering yourself, let us know and we can guide you to the right direction.

TBA- We are planning on having a fundraiser. Let us know what youd like to eat and we can vote on what to sell. Fundraisers always go towards a cause.

    The Willows of

    East Lansing

    For a Valentines theme and

    service project, we decided

    to craft Valentine cards for

    senior citizens that may

    have been forgotten on the

    special day.

    While volunteering at the

    location we served food, set

    tables, and passed around

    their Valentine cards.

    Thank you to those who

    showed up for our card-

    crafting event; the cards

    were much appreciated!

  • Sister Spotlight!

    The spotlight goes out

    to our sister, Claudia

    Zavala.

    She will venture to

    Barcelona, Spain to start

    on her unpaid internship

    for an international

    company. Currently she

    is still deciding on a

    number of companies

    she was offered. This

    internship will provide

    her with experience in

    Web-Design.

    Q: Once youre done

    with the internship, what

    do you plan on doing?

    A: After the internship,

    I plan on further devel-

    oping my skillset in the

    field and basically using

    the experience to apply

    it in future work set-

    tings.

    Q: Are you excited?

    A: I am very excited! I

    hear that this location is

    very experienced in

    technology and I look

    forward to gaining

    skills. Im going to get

    to meet new people and

    see this part of the

    world, something I

    would have never imag-

    ined would become pos-

    sible for me.

    Donations Accepted though: http://www.gofundme.com/m33frs

Hello everyone! I have recently been accepted into a study abroad program

for an unpaid international internship this summer in Barcelona, Spain. I will

be there from May to the end of July. I am also a fellow Kappa Delta

Chi sister from the Beta Epsilon Chapter here at Michigan State University.

I am currently looking for all the possible resources that can help aid for this

trip. I am looking into scholarships but I fear that they will not cover the ma-

jority of the costs if I were to receive them. The first half of this program in-

cludes the completion of Spanish courses while the second half is where I

will be placed in a web development/IT internship.

From this experience, I wish to take away the knowledge and skills that can

help guide me to success in the future. For any type of donation, big or small,

I will put them towards programs costs such as airfare which is approximate-

ly $1600 and the rest will be going towards meals (since only breakfast is

provided), transportation to and from work and other living expenses.

I am currently working every other weekend to save up for as much as I can

for the program fees but anything in the end will help. I will be posting pic-

tures of my trip during and afterwards as an appreciation and as a confirma-

tion of where the funds went to. Thank you for taking the time to read my

    message.
