　合気道開祖・植芝盛平翁（1883年～1969年）は、1915年、元会津藩士、

大東流合気柔術総本部長・武田惣角師に入門してこれを修め、その後他

の武術の優れた面をも加え、さらに充実した武術（合気武道）として合気道

を創始。1948年から「合気道」の名称を用いたものである。

　天道流合気道は、開祖の創始された合気道の神髄をそのまま受け継ぐ

合気道であり、開祖の気力の偉大さとその技を後世に伝え残そうとする

清水健二の合気道である。

The founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba (1883-1969) trained under Takeda

Sokaku, formerly from the Aizu Han (feudal clan), the art of Daito-Ryu

Aiki-jujitsu. Including the essence of other bujitsu (martial art) he formed

a new martial art and called it Aikido from 1948 onwards.

Tendoryu Aikido has inherited the essence of the founder of Aikido. It

is the Aikido of Kenji Shimizu with the mission to teach the powerful

energy (Kiryoku) and the techniques of the founder to the future

generation.

　「天道」とは天の道であり、天の道理である。

　「天道」とは誠でなければならず、その誠を人の道にあらわすところに、

人間の修養がある。

　天道流合気道では、この「天道」の精神をその根本の教えとしている。

　他人に勝つのではなく、「己に克つ」ことを修道の心がまえとし、

天道を自らのものにするため、誠の心をもって朝鍛夕錬しなければならない。

誠の心とは不断に稽古を継続する精神であり、克己の精神こそが、

Tendo - the way of heaven, is the way to heaven, is the way to the truth.Tendo means sincerity, and only when sincerity can achieved in the way of one’s living, we can improve ourselves.Within the Tendoryu Aikido this spirit is the basis of our teachings.Not to compete with others but to overcome oneself is the basis of our training. To make Tendo one’s own we have to train sincerely from morning to evening. Sincerity manifests itself in the spirit of continuous training. To overcome oneself is the core of this practice.

　気持ちだけは若いつもりの私としては、余り年令

の事には触れたくありませんが、合気道と清水健二

先生に出会ってから既に40年の歳月が過ぎました。

　当時、総理大臣の秘書として毎日、繁忙と緊張

の日々を送っていた私にとって、国会議事堂の道

場で汗を流すことが唯一のストレス解消とリフレッ

シュ法でありました。

　若き清水先生に指導を受けた多くの弟子の中

には、外務大臣経験者やマスコミの重鎮や、今、

テレビドラマの主人公となった大物役人もいました

が、清水先生の並はずれた強さ優れた指導と厳

しい稽古、そして超ハンサムは、そんな弟子達の

中で評判となっていました。私が仕えた田中総理

は「その人がどれ程長く、周りの人達と良好な関

係を続ける事ができたか、一つの物事をどれ程長

く継続できたかで、おおよそのその評価は決まるも

のだ。」と云っていましたが、清水先生は特に大変

困難な道場の創設から40年、そして公に認められ

たNPO法人「tendo world aikido」の設立、しか

もこのNPOには顧問として、羽田孜元総理大臣、

鳩山邦夫元文部大臣（現総理の弟）、川口順子

元外務大臣、所管の元閣僚の皆さんが名を連ね

ています。この事は清水先生が如何に高い信用

と信頼を得ているかという証左でもあります。

　そして今回、日本の武道界に於いて恐らく初の

試みと思いますが世界の国々から100人もの門人

が一同に集い、ワールドセミナーを開催することに

なりました。40年を超えた門人として、こんなに嬉し

い事はありません。

　私もセミナーに参加して私の合気道が世界にど

れ程通用するのか？ ドキドキです。

As someone who thinks one is still young in his mind, you don’t want to talk about number of years. But it is already 40 years ago when I met Aikido and Kenji Shimizu. During these times I was an assistant to the prime minister and during these busy and tense times the best way to relieve stress was to sweat a great deal in the dojo of the parliament.Among the participants where a former foreign minister, important members of the press, stars of TV programs and high rank officials, and young handsome Shimizu Sensei was very popular within this group due to his physical strength, gentle teaching style and hard training. My boss during these times, premier Tanaka, often said that you can judge the value of a person if you look at how long this person was able to keep up the good relationship with the people around him and how long this person can pursue one objective. Shimizu Sensei had no easy times in growing the dojo for 40 years and set up the NPO organization tendo world aikido, which has as its board members former premier minister Hata, former cultural minister Hatoyama (brother of current prime minister), former foreign minister Kawaguchi, and other high ranking officials. This shows that Shimizu Sensei has attracted high confidence and trust from others.Additionally, this time , probably for the first time in the Budo world, more than 100 pupils worldwide will participate at the world seminar. As a over 40 year disciple I feel very happy about this.I also will participate and I am nervous about how valid my Aikido will be on the worldwide stage.

tendo world aikidoの結成について

　私は 1978年に初めて西ドイツ武道連盟より天道流合気道の指導に

招聘され、今日まで続けて参りました。永い年月の間に、海外の多くの

国々にも天道流合気道が受け入れられてきました。

　それぞれ国が違えば文化や習慣も異なり、色々なことを経験し学ぶこと

が出来ました。

　因って天道流合気道の門弟同士の稽古における国際交流をも

合わせて、今後の天道流合気道の発展を促進する為、2008年より

NPO法人tendo world aikidoを結成、実行することとなり、ここに

2009年10月12日～18日『第1回NPO tendo world aikidoセミナー』を

日本に於いて開催することとなりました。

　ここに皆様への感謝とこれからもご支援ご協力をお願い申し上げる

次第です。

In 1978 I started teaching Tendoryu Aikido in Germany and have been continuing until today.During this long time Tendoryu Aikido has not only been adopted by Germany but also by many other countries.I have experienced and learnt various things through the difference in culture and customs of each of these countries.To provide opportunities to practice with fellows from Tendoryu Aikido and have international exchange, as well as for the promotion of growth of the Tendoryu Aikido we began preparations to form the NPO tendo world aikido at the begin of 2008 which was eventually legalized in September 2008.To celebrate the setting up of this worldwide organization, the NPO tendo world aikido will host its first seminar from 12. to 18. October 2009 in Japan.At this point I want to express my gratitude to all of ｍy students, combined with my wish for further support and cooperation.

1940年 福岡県嘉穂郡穂波町天道生まれ 13歳より柔道を始める1963年 明治大卒業後、合気道創始者の植芝盛平翁の

内弟子となる。入門3年で四段というスピード昇段記録を持ち後に高段位八段を印可される

1969年 清水道場として独立1975年 天道館と改名1978年 西ドイツ（現ドイツ）へ招聘される。以後毎年渡欧

し、スロベニア、オランダ、セルビア、モンテネグロ、ベルギー、オーストリア、フランスなども加わる。現在ではメキシコ、アメリカ、シンガポール、デンマークにも広がっている

1994年 天道流合気道創立25周年記念演武会を東京･明治記念館で開催

2003年 合気道を通じた国際交流の促進により、諸外国と

の友好親善に寄与したその功績が顕著として平成14年度外務大臣表彰を受賞。秋の園遊会に臨席

ロシア･ウラジオストクからの招聘により初訪露2008年 9月 NPO法人tendo world aikido 設立

天道流　天道の由来

天道は清水管長の出身地であり生誕地である。

約 1000年前、藤原純友の弟、純基が乱を起こしこの地、大将陣山に

篭城していた。この時源満仲（平安中期の武将）は勅命を受け「吾

天道のご加護により朝敵を亡ぼさん」と日天子を観請してこれを奪還した。

これによりこの地が天道と名付けられた、と言う。現在頂上には満仲の

母堂の墓がある。

Tendoryu ‒ The origin of the name Tendo

Tendo is Shimizu Sensei’s origin but also his birthplace. Around 1000 years ago there was a fight between feudal lords and the brother of Lord Fujiware, who has started the war, has retreated himself and his troop to one of the mountain areas in this region. Lord Minamoto no Mitsunaka, his rival, got the message from the emperor that due to the order from the heaven - tendo - he should defeat the enemy (which he eventually did). This is the origin of the naming of this place. The family grave of this lord is still in this area.
