An audiometrist will be visiting our school on 13th March in order to carry out hearing screening tests. It is especially important to conduct these tests at an early age to detect possible hearing loss. If you are interested in having your child tested, please collect a form from the reception office and return it to school with R60.
Dear Parents, Kindly refer to the attached campus parking map for guidelines regarding use of the school car parking areas. For the safety of our children, and that of pedestrians making use of Santa Road, we appeal to all parents to please observe the 30km/h speed limit while entering or exiting the school premises. Please exercise caution by yielding before crossing the one-way bridge, allowing one car at a time to cross from either side. Note that the lower car parking bays are allocated for Staff and Visitors and must be used as a drop off area for Classes 6 - matric only. Kindergarten to Class 5 children may be dropped off and collected at the Drop and Go Circle. If you wish to park when dropping off your child, please make use of the parent and student parking bays to the right of the Drop and Go circle. Furthermore, please be reminded to make contact with our secretary Althea via email [email protected] in order to request your Spier parking disc. Thank you for your kind cooperation in this regard. Kind Regards, SWS Administration
Dear Parents, Our Primary and High School children have been invited to attend two events at The Shed over the next few weeks: Cape Philharmonic Orchestra performance on Thursday 22nd March 2018; and Eurythmy Performance on Tuesday 10th April 2018. We would like to request each child to contribute R20, as a gesture of thanks to the performers. Please hand the money to your child's class teacher by Tuesday 20th March 2018. Parents are welcome to attend! Warm Regards, Primary and High School Teachers
WISH LIST FOR AFTERCARE Dear Waldorf Community, As you probably know, Aftercare is expanding and we are busy building a new structure to accommodate more children. So, we are asking for any donations of puzzles, games such as chess, backgammon, cards, (uno, old maid, etc.) musical instruments (especially recorders), sports equipment (cricket bats, tennis rackets, balls, volleyballs) and books would also be welcome. These items can be suitable for children of kindergarten or primary school age. Anything you are not using and would be happy to 'recycle' to us, would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance, Aftercare team.
MUSIC DEPARTMENT The music department is looking for a piano stool for one of our pianos. If anyone has one or knows of one that could be donated to our school, please contact Althea our just bring it to Mrs Berning in Class 5! Furthermore, we are looking at developing a school orchestra and we need all sorts of instruments. Svetlana of the Sun Light Music Studio is spearheading this initiative for which we are sincerely grateful. So, please look in your garage or your roof or anywhere and bring instruments to our talented and musical students and children. Many thanks, Jill Berning and Svetlana Ivanova
Dear all, In partnership with the Lucky Bean at Stellenbosch Waldorf School, we are giving a combined talk and discussion about the importance of our Gut-Brain axis and Health. Dr Carel Bredell will take us through the relevance of this and the implications of the Gut-Brain and its role in our health and wellbeing. Dr Tessa Little - will take us through what is being discovered in research and the lessons learned. We will discuss what we have learned through evidence-based results, talking about the role of lifestyle practices, nutrition, eating habits and what can we do about guarding ourselves against environmental threats. Please join us on Saturday, 03 March, at our Saturday Farmers Market, from 11:00 till 12:00 Donation: R40 Please reply via the link to facilitate seating arrangements. https://doodle.com/poll/dnsmiv953zmhczh9 Tess
