my ancillary products?By Kyle Turner

For the editing process of my ancillary products I used software's such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft word as they enabled me to cut and crop my ancillary images which was an extremely useful tool in helping me re-size them to fit the size of the page.

I used PowerPoint as it offered me a way to add effects to my image in which I used ‘picture effects’ and changed the saturation of my edges to create a dark scary effect to my ancillary image. Microsoft PowerPoint also enabled me to change the colour and opacity of the image which I found extremely useful. This feature enabled me to make my ancillary image far more conventional as I changed the lighting to low-key which is a typical convention of the horror genre.

Lastly, the program abled me to change the background of my ancillary products or remove the background on my images. This was very useful as I could remove the unwanted parts of my image to add a degree of professionalism to my work.

I also used Photoshop in order to increase the quality of my image when trying to re-size it. Photoshop enabled me to increase the size of my image without loosing the detail and quality of it.

The image editing process

I used Photoshop to make sure my ancillary images were in the rule of thirds, the grid feature which enabled me to do so also if my image wasn’t in the rule of thirds the ‘arrow’ button abled me to reposition my image to fit on the top left square which is a key convention of film magazines and posters. Furthermore, I used other features such as being able to change the colour contrast of my image and other aspects on the page. This was effective in enabling me to keep a consistent colour-scheme throughout.

Cropping, cutting, resizing

Microsoft Word was an effective way for me to edit my ancillary images. Word allowed me to crop the image, change the size of the image and add effects to it. This was a quick and easy way for me to edit my images and make them look effective, especially with the ‘soft edges’ features which allowed me to change the opacity of the image. This created a dark and scary effect on the image which made it look conventional.

PowerPoint- removing backgrounds

Microsoft PowerPoint became an effective tool in my editing process in which it had the feature which enabled me to remove the background of images. This was very helpful as it helped me add quality to work as the image looked as if it was apart of my magazine cover. It enabled me to remove any unwanted parts of my image quick and easily. I could also remove small parts of the image rather than just the background which also became a handy tool to use as I could increase the quality of my images.
