In the persuasive article, "The Globalization of Eating Disorders" , Bordo presents the spreading of eating disorders all over the world due to the media's portrayal of slim bodies as the epitome of physical beauty. Western media constantlyglorifies slim bodies, thereby making women of all races and cultures feel ashamed of their bodies and causing them to abandon their traditional definitions ofbeauty to pursue the slimming trend. Men too restrict their diet in order to achieve the powerful body build which the media avidly promotes.
