4 2013 Statistical Yearbook of Republika Srpska 2013
PREFACE
Dear Readers, This year, 2013, in which we publish the 5th jubilee issue of the Statistical Yearbook of Republika Srpska, was a very
busy and demanding year for the Institute, because this year the most complex statistical survey Census of Population, Households and Dwellings was carried in Republika Srpska and BH. The results of the Census are going to be published in the period between July 2014 and July 2016.
Despite the very extensive involvement of almost all employees in the preparation and implementation of the Census,
the Institute has managed to complete all its regular activities, including the preparation of the new issue of the Yearbook which will, we believe, with its quality, abundance and timeliness of statistical data, attract numerous domestic and foreign users from the academic community to holders of economy and development policies.
The Yearbook is a very valuable and useful edition, as it provides users with plenty of data on Republika Srpska in one
place, in a comprehensive and systematic way, providing its economic and social characteristics. The data presented in the Yearbook are systematised in 30 chapters, by field, accompanied by the necessary
methodological explanations. The last, 30th chapter focuses of units of local self-government of Republika Srpska. The Yearbook is published in electronic and printed form. It is a bilingual edition (in English as well) which is available to users all over the world as it is published at the official website of the Institute.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all those who have contributed to the successful
completion of another Yearbook, especially to all statisticians employed at the Institute and to all authorised producers of statistics in Republika Srpska.
The Institute will welcome any criticism, opinion and evaluation, as well as readers suggestions, as the Yearbook is a
representative periodical edition of the Institute, which should be constantly updated and improved. Banja Luka, November 2013
