- The aim of the symposium- The aim of the symposium, which connects school museums and researchers into thehistory of education, is to present and explore the professional historical contribution ofmale and women teachers and particularly their associationsmale and women teachers and particularly their associations to the developmentof schools and pedagogy, as well as to cultural and general development. Teacherassociations united the teaching professionteachi ng pro fess ion in the establishment of their (trade uni ontrade union)interests, had a significant influence on the development of teacher educationdevelopment of teacher education

Teachers gatherings, publishing activitiespublishing activities and theappearance of school museumsappearance of school museums were among the most important forms of activity.

- Teacher associationsTeacher associations and their regional, national (ethnic), state and internationalconnections went beyond the local importance of frequently very diverse activities. Theywere marked in particular by inindividual teachersdividual teachers who were important for a particularvillage, town or wider region. Through changes that took place over time, we can also discernthe differing importance attributed to the teaching professionthe teaching profession, which is why we alsoencourage comparative analyses of the role of teachers and their associationsthe role of teachers and their associations.Contributions offering an overview of a wider regionoverview of a wider region or even a whole countrya whole country areparticularly welcome, as are presentations and analyses of archive and museumanalyses of archive and museummaterialmaterial and, above all, insights into our museums through an analysis of exhibitionsexhibitions onthis subject.

- The theme of teachers, teacher associations and their work and otherteacher associations and their work and otherconnections in educationconnections in education is directed at specialists working in museumsmuseums both large andsmall and in other collections related to school and educationcollections related to school and education, as well as atresearchers and lecturers who are involved in the history of education at universities,institutes and in archives.

museumsmuseums and successful museum projects regards to the history of education are welcome.

- The working language of the conference is Englishworking language of the conference is English. Paper presentations should lastbetween 15-20 minutes, including 3-5 minutes discussions after presentation at plenaryplenarysessionsses sio ns and 90-minute par all el sect ion sparallel sections.

- The Babel SectionThe Babel Section: Only one 90-minute session of the parallel sections (each with amaximum of 4 to 5 presentations) will take place in three groups for participants from theGermanic, Romance and Slavic language areas in one of these languages.

Please notePl ea se no te that the 'Babel Section' is designed first of all for the colleagues who work atsmall school museums without earlier experiences with English, the lingua francaof themodern era.

All participants, including paper presenters, are expected to cover travel and accommodationcosts as well as the conference fee with their own resources.

Conference fee cover all symposium sessions, program materials, coffee breaks, two
