a századok óta jelen lévő magyar, német és horvát

ajkú lakosság által létrehozott kulturális értékeinek

köszönhetően rendkívül színes és gazdag. sopron

városa, amely műemléki európa-díjjal büszkélkedhet,

budapest után az ország műemlékekben leggazda-

gabb települése. emellett nem csupán kistérségünk-

nek, hanem Magyarországnak is a legjelentősebb

kastélyai közé tartozik a fertődi esterházy-, és a

nagycenki széchenyi kastély. Az olyan kiemelkedő

kulturális rendezvényeink, mint a soproni ünnepi

Hetek, Volt Fesztivál, a Fertődi Zenei napok vagy a

die Kleinregion sopron-Fertőd heißt sie herzlich

willkommen! Wir sind eine region mit zahlreichen

naturschätzen und baudenkmälern und mit einer

seit Jahrhunderten hier ansässigen bevölkerung be-

stehend aus ungarn, Deutschen und Kroaten mit ih-

rer so wertvollen Kultur. Die stadt sopron wurde mit

dem europäischen Denkmalpreis ausgezeichnet und

verfügt nach budapest über die meisten baudenk-

mäler in ungarn. Darüber hinaus finden sie zwei der

bedeutendsten schlösser ungarns in unserer region,

das eszterházy-schloss in Fertőd und das széchenyi-

schloss in nagycenk. Die soproner Festwochen,

das VOLt Festival, die Fertőder Musiktage oder die

Programme zum Jubiläum des Paneuropäischen

Picknicks sind wirklich herausragende kulturelle Ver-

anstaltungen, die auch den internationalen Vergleich

the micro-region of sopron-Fertőd is happy to wel-

treasures and historical buildings. For centuries our

population has been a mix of the valuable cultures

of Hungarians, germans and Croatians. this makes

our region unusually colourful and rich. the City of

sopron was awarded with the european Prize for

Monument Preservation. After budapest, we have

the second largest number of historical buildings.

Our region has two of the most significant castles

in Hungary, the eszterházy Castle in Fertőd and the

széchenyi Castle in nagycenk. sopron’s Festival

ALPOKALJA / FertőtáJ / KisALFÖLDsopron-Fertőd Kistérséghez 3 város és 37 község tartozik, lakosainak száma közel 100 ezer, területe pedig 857 négyzetkilométer. térségünk lakos-ságszámát, területét, súlyát tekintve regionálisan sőt országos viszonylatban is a legnagyobb kistérségek közé tartozik. településeink változatos képet mutatnak az 57 ezer lakosú megyei jogú várostól kezdve a 3800 lakosú Fertőszentmiklós és a 3400 lakosú Fertőd városokon keresztül számos 500-2000 közötti községen át legkisebb településünkig, a 36 lakosú Csérig. térségünk a nyugat-dunántúli régióban, győr-Moson-sopron megye nyugati részén helyezkedik el. Délről Vas megyével határos, nyugatról és északról Ausztriával szomszédos.természeti adottságai, kulturális, törté-neti értékei országos viszonylatban is kiemelkedőek. A térségben három földraj-zi tájegység találkozik teljes harmóniában egymással. Hegység, dombság, síkvi-déki tájak változatos együttese jellemzi. egymástól éghajlatában és élővilágában jelentősen eltérő tájegységek kapcsolód-nak egymásba:• kontinentális, síkvidéki sztyepptó• szubmediterrán dombság• szubalpin középhegység. A kisalföldi síkság, a Fertő tó és az Alpok nyúlványai találkoznak ezen a vidéken. európán belül ez a terület egyedülállónak mondható, és e tájon valóban átélhetjük, megtapasztal-hatjuk a természet sokszínűségét, ezerarcú szépségét. A soproni hegység szubalpin jellegű klímájával, hazai viszonylatban magashegységi jelleg-zetességeivel számos értékes, védett

növény és állatfaj élőhelye. A Fertő tó, hazánk második legnagyobb tava, a legnyugatibb sztyepp tó európában. A klimatikus feltételek mellett a talaj és a víz magas sótartalma járul hozzá a mintegy 20 ezer éves tó és a környező tájegység biológiai sokféleségéhez. A Fertőtáj szubmediterrán klímája, a Fertő-Hanság nemzeti Park, a Világ-örökségi terület egyedülálló természeti értékeket képviselnek. A 330 négyzet-kilométeres közös magyar-osztrák nemzeti Park érintetlen természeti területein vízimadarak és költöző ma-darak számtalan fajtáját csodálhatjuk meg a madárleseken, madárvártákon. egyedülálló élményt nyújt az itt élő szürke marha és vízi bivaly csordák im-pozáns látványa. itt tényleg távol lehet kerülni a világ zajától. Csend, nyugalom és életre szóló élmények várnak az ide látogatókra.sopron környéke és a Fertőtáj a tör-ténelmi soproni borvidék szőlőinek termőhelye. A szőlőültetvények jellegze-tesen szép részei a tájnak. Kistérségünk déli, délkeleti része részben a nyugat-Kisalföld, részben a sopron-Vasi síkság területére esik. A minden szempontból változatos táj (domborzat, éghajlat, vízrajz, növény- és állatvilág) a nyugat európai tájhatások hordozója. A páratlan szépségű nyugat-pannon táj Kelet-Ausztriát és nyugat-Magyarorszá-got jelenti. A magyar osztrák határré-gió európa nyugati és középső része között híd szerepet tölt be. sok kedvező adottsággal rendelkezik és már ma is a pozitív fejlődés számos előremutató példáját mutatja fel.

Zu der Kleinregion sopron-Fertőd gehören drei städte und 37 gemeinden, sie hat rund 100.000 einwohner und eine grund-fläche von 857 km2. in Hinblick auf ihre einwohnerzahl, ihre grundfläche und ihre bedeutung gehört unsere region nicht nur auf regionaler ebene sondern auch landes-weit zu den großen Kleinregionen, sie ist größer, als die vier an sie grenzenden regi-onen zusammen. unsere gemeinden sind recht vielfältig, angefangen von der Komi-tatsstadt sopron, mit 57.000 einwohnern über die städte Fertőszentmiklós mit 3.800 und Fertőd mit 3.400 einwohnern und ge-meinden mit 500-2.000 einwohnern bis zu unserer kleinsten Ortschaft, dem Dorf Csér mit 36 einwohnern. unsere Kleinregion liegt in der region Westtransdanubien, im Westen des Komitats győr-Moson-sopron. im süden grenzt es an das Komitat Vas, im Westen und norden an Österreich.Die natürlichen gegebenheiten, die kulturellen und historischen Werte gehören nicht nur regional sondern landesweit zu den besonderheiten. in dieser region begegnen einander drei verschiedene Landschaftseinheiten in völliger Harmo-nie, gebirge, Hügelland und tiefebene bilden ein abwechslungsreiches ganzes. Die Landschaftseinheiten, die hier inein-ander übergehen, unterscheiden sich in ihrem Klima und ihrer Flora und Fauna ganz wesentlich voneinander:• kontinentaler steppensee in der

tiefebene• submediterranes Hügelland• subalpines Mittelgebirge.Das soproner gebirge bietet mit seinem subalpinen Klima und für ungarische Verhältnisse hochgebirgigem Charakter Lebensraum für zahlreiche kostbare geschützte Pflanzen und tiere. Der neusiedler see, ungarns zweitgrößter see, ist der am westlichsten gelege-

ne steppensee europas. neben den klimatischen eigenheiten bedingt der hohe salzgehalt von Wasser und boden die Artenvielfalt des etwa 20000 Jahre alten neusiedler sees und seiner um-gebung. Die Landschaft neusiedler see mit ihrem submediterranen Klima, der nationalpark Fertő-Hanság, das gebiet des Welterbes stellen einen naturraum von einzigartigem Wert dar. Auf den 330 km2 unberührter natur des ge-meinsamen österreichisch-ungarischen nationalparks können unzählige Arten von Wasservögeln und Zugvögeln von beobachtungsplätzen und Vogelwar-ten aus beobachtet werden. Die hier lebenden Herden von graurindern und Wasserbüffeln bieten ebenfalls einen imposanten Anblick. in der Landschaft neusiedler see und der umgebung von sopron finden sich auch die Anbau-flächen für den Wein der historischen Weinbauregion sopron, die Weinberge sind ein besonders schönes und charak-teristisches element der Landschaft. Der südliche, südöstliche teil unserer Kleinre-gion fällt zum einen teil auf die westliche Kleine ungarische tiefebene, zum anderen teil auf die ebene sopron-Vas. Auch dieses gebiet verfügt über recht komplexe Cha-rakteristika, die in jeder Hinsicht abwechs-lungsreiche Landschaft (geländeform, Klima, Hydrographie, Flora und Fauna) ist wohl ganz typisch für Westeuropa. Wenn wir von der unvergleichlichen Lieblichkeit Westpannoniens sprechen, denken wir dabei an die Landschaft in Ost-Österreich und West-ungarn. Die österreichisch-unga-rische grenzregion bildet eine brücke zwi-schen West- und Zentraleuropa, sie verfügt über viele vorteilhafte gegebenheiten und weist schon heute viele zukunftsweisende beispiele für eine positive entwicklung auf.

the sopron-Fertőd Micro-region has three cities, 37 smaller communities and about 100,000 inhabitants on an area of 857 km2. Our region is one of the largest micro-regions of the country with its population and area. Our com-munities are multi-faceted, beginning with the City and County of sopron with 57,000 inhabitants to the towns of Fertőszentmiklós, with a population of 3,800, Fertőd with 3,400, many villages with between 500 to 2,000 people, down to the smallest, Csér, with just 36 residents. Our region lies in the West-transdanubian region, in the Western part of the County of győr-Moson-sopron. it is bordered on the south by Vas County, and by Austria on the north and west.the natural conditions, historical and cultural values of the region are significant not only regionally but nationally as well. three different types of landscape, mountains, hills and plains, meet here in complete har-mony, creating a diversified whole. the varying landscapes which meet here are distinct from one another with different climates, flora and fauna:• a continental steppe lake on the plain• sub-Mediterranean hilly land• sub-alpine low mountainsthe Little Hungarian Plain, Lake Fertő, and the alpine foothills all come together here. this area is unique in all of europe, where nature shows a thousand different faces. the hills of sopron have a sub-alpine climate and mountainous features. Here we find numerous rare and protected species of plants and animals. Lake Fertő is Hungary’s second largest lake, and europe’s westernmost steppe lake. the lake is about 20,000 years old. A large variety of species is found here because

of the characteristics of the climate, and the high salt content of the water and the soil of the surrounding area. the Fertő-Hanság national Park is a world heritage site with unique natural values. the area around the lake has a sub-Mediterranean climate. the combined Austrian-Hungarian national Park offers 330 square kilometers of un-disturbed landscape where bird lovers can observe countless species of water birds and migratory birds from orni-thology stations. there is an imposing view of herds of grey cattle and water buffalo. Here is a place where visitors can retreat from the noise of the world, enjoy peace, and collect unforgettable impressions. Vineyards are an especially beautiful characteristic of the landscape around sopron and Lake Fertő, which is a historical wine producing region. the southern and south-eastern part of our micro-region is situated partly on the western area of the Little Hungarian Plain, and partly on the sopron-Vas lowlands. this variable landscape has complex characteristics of landforms, climate, hydrography, flora and fauna, and is typical of West europe. if we talk about the incomparable loveliness of West Pannonia, we think of the land-scape of eastern Austria and western Hungary. this border region is a bridge between West and Central europe. it offers many profitable opportunities and shows trend setting examples of investment which promise a positive future development.

térségünkben az idegenforgalmi ágazat már ma is jelentős, a nagy soproni szál-lodák mellett, kastélyszállók, színvonalas panziók és falusi szálláshelyek működnek. győr-Moson-sopron megye 22 ezer keres-kedelmi szálláshelyéből csaknem 14 ezer kistérségünk területén van. térségünk a bécs-Pozsony-győr nagyvárosi régió „zöld szíve”-ként egyedülálló természeti, kultu-rális és történelmi értékeivel fontos szerep és szép jövő előtt áll. Fontos nemzetközi vonzerőt jelent a közös magyar-osztrák világörökségi terület és a Fertőtáj. Vidékünkhöz kötődik Liszt Ferenc és Joseph Haydn világhírű zeneművészeti munkássága, a széchenyi és az esterházy család kulturális, szellemi és építészeti öröksége.

térségünk számos határon túli kirándulás kiinduló pontja is lehet. bécs autóval 45 perc alatt elérhető, alig egy órányira van a 2000 méter feletti rax és a schneeberg, továbbá a semmering. Fél óra sem kell hozzá, hogy eljussunk eisenstadtba, Fraknóra, a st. Margaretheni kalandpark-ba és a világhírű operajátékoknak is ott-hont adó római kori kőbányába, és Közép-európa egyik legnagyobb vizi színpadához Mörbischre, vagy éppen az egykori szabad királyi városba, rusztra. Ausztria egyik legnagyobb élmény- és termálfürdőjébe, Lutzmannsburgba pedig néhány perces sétával eljutunk Zsiráról.

• Hervorragende eisenbahnanbindung richtung ungarn und richtung Westeuropa durch die in ungarisch-österreichischem eigentum befindli-che eisenbahnlinie rÖee

• entfernung von Wien-schwechat, ei-nem der größten Flughäfen europas, beträgt 50 km jenseits der grenze

ein besonderes Projekt unserer region ist die mit eu-Mitteln finanzierte reno-vierung des schlosses esterházy, der bau des Mitteleuropäischen Kulturzen-trums eszterháza. schon heute ist der tourismus in unserer region ausge-prägt, neben den großen soproner Hotels finden wir in den Ortschaften der region schlosshotels, gepflegte Pensionen und unterkunftsmöglich-keiten auf dem Dorf. Von den 22000 kommerziellen unterkunftsmöglich-keiten im Komitat győr-Moson-sopron befinden sich fast 14.000 in unserer Kleinregion. Dieser Landschaft kommt mit sicherheit auch zukünftig eine wich-tige rolle als „grünes Herz“ inmitten der großstadtregion Wien-bratislava-győr zu. Das gebiet des gemeinsamen österreichisch-ungarischen Welterbes,

die Landschaft neusiedler see, die großen Musiker Franz Liszt und Joseph Haydn, die in unserer region ihr Wirken entfalteten sowie das kulturel-le, geistige und architektonische erbe der Familien széchenyi und esterházy verfügen auch international über eine nicht unbedeutende Anziehungskraft.

Von unserer region aus kann man auch viele Ausflüge in das benachbarte Österreich unternehmen. Wien ist mit dem Auto in 45 Minuten zu erreichen, man braucht kaum eine stunde bis zur über 2000 Meter hohen rax, zum schneeberg, sowie zum semmering. in weniger als einer halben stunde erreichen wir eisenstadt, Forchtenstein und den Abenteuerpark bzw. den rö-mersteinbruch von st. Margarethen, in dem weithin bekannte Opernfestspiele veranstaltet werden, oder Mörbisch, wo sich eine der größten seebühnen in Mitteleuropa befindet, oder auch die einstige königliche Freistadt rust. und Lutzmannsburg, eines der größten er-lebnis- und thermalbäder Österreichs, ist von Zsíra aus sogar in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen.

the sopron-Fertőd micro-region is con-tinuing the restoration of the esterházy Castle with eu funds and founding the eszterháza Central european Cultural Centre here. tourism is thriving in our region. in addition to the large sopron hotels, there are castle hotels in other communities, well cared for pensions, and accommodations in the villages.

there are 22,000 accommodations in győr-Moson-sopron County, and 14,000 of them are in our micro-region. We can expect this region to have an import role in the future as “the green heart” between the large urban areas of Vienna, bratislava, and győr. With its natural and cultural values and historical traditions, our region is well adapted to add to the opportunities of the nearby large cities. the Common Austrian Hungarian heritage has a dis-tinct international attraction. it includes the landscape around Lake Fertő, the musical achievements of Franz Liszt and Joseph Haydn, the cultural, intel-lectual and architectural heritage of széchenyi and esterházy families.

it is easy to take excursions from our region to neighbouring Austria. you can drive to Vienna in just 45 minutes. it takes about an hour to reach moun-tains 2,000 meters high, such as rax, schneeberg and the area of semmer-ing. in less than half an hour we can reach eisenstadt, Forchtenstein, the ad-venture park and the roman quarry at st. Margarethen, where famous opera performances are held, or Mörbisch, where there is Central europe’s largest outdoor stage at the lakeshore, and the royal free city of rust. by walking just a few minutes from the Hungarian village of Zsira, you can reach one of Austria’s biggest recreation centres and thermal baths at Lutzmannsburg.

A település középpontjában a patkó alakú, lenyűgözően szép barokk stílusú kastély található, amely a város idegenforgalmának fő forrása, meghatározó jelentőségű látnivalója. A 126 szobás, melléképületekkel, csodálatos környezettel, 200 hektáros parkkal övezett palota, Magyarország leghatalmasabb kastély-együttese, a hazai késő barokk építészet egyedül álló remeke. Joseph Haydn (1732–1809) a zenetörté-net utolsó udvari zeneszerzője két évtizedet (1769–1790) töltött a „pompakedvelő”, művészeteket is támogató esterházy Miklós szolgálatában az eszterházi Muzsika-ház lakójaként, ahol emlékét múzeum őrzi. A kastélyban tartott operaelőadásokon nem egyszer részt vett a királyi, illetve császári család is. A város művelődési, szellemi életének két fontos szerepet játszó színtere van: a Muzsikaház és az esterházy-kastély. Az esterházy-kastély kulturális programjainak sorából kiemelked-nek a komolyzenei hangversenyek. Az esterházyak teremtette zenekultúra méltó hagyományőrzéseként évről évre koncerteket, zenei kurzusokat tartanak, melyeket külföldiek is nagy számban látogatnak.

Das Palais mit seinen 126 Zimmern, nebengebäuden, seiner wundervol-len umgebung und seinem 200 Hektar großen Park ist die größte schlossanlage ungarns, ein einzigartiges Meisterwerk der spätbarocken ungarischen Architektur. Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), der letzte Hofkomponist der Musikgeschichte, ver-brachte zwei Jahrzehnte (1769-1790) in den Diensten von nikolaus esterházy, dem Prachtliebenden, der ein Förderer der Künste war, und wohnte in dieser Zeit im Musikhaus des schlosses, heute Haydn-gedenkmuseum. An den Opernaufführun-gen im schloss nahm nicht selten auch die königliche bzw. kaiserliche Familie teil. Das kulturelle und geistige Leben der stadt spielt sich heute an zwei Plätzen ab: im Musikhaus und im schloss esterházy. ein glanzlicht des kulturellen Programms im schloss esterházy sind die klassischen Konzerte, sie sind eine würdige Fortset-zung der Musikkultur der esterházys. Die Konzerte und musikalischen Kurse, die jedes Jahr veranstaltet werden, werden auch von zahlreichen ausländischen gästen besucht.

in the centre of the community there is the wonderful baroque castle built in the shape of a horseshoe. this outstanding landmark attracts many visitors. the palace is a unique masterpiece of late baroque Hungarian architecture. it has 126 rooms, wonderful surroundings, several outbuildings and a delightful 200 hectare park, making it the largest castle complex in Hungary. Joseph Haydn (1732-1809), was the last court composer in the history of music. He spent two decades here (1769-1790) in the service of nikolaus esterházy, a splendour loving prince who was a patron of the arts. At that time Haydn lived in the Music House, which today is the Haydn museum. the imperial family often attended opera performances at the castle. the cultural and intellectual life of the town continues today in two locations, in the Music House and in the esterházy Castle. Classical music concerts are a highlight of the cultural programs offered in the esterházy Castle. they are a worthy continuation of the musical culture of the esterházys. Many foreign visitors attend the concerts and musical courses offered each year.

FertőráKOsFertőrákos az egyetlen magyar község, amelyet városfal övezett és püspöki palotája is volt. több helyütt ma is láthatók a városfal maradványai. A településnek szám-talan épülete műemlék. A község közvetlen környéke már az ókorban lakott vidék volt. A római uralom alatt népes település lehetett. ebből a korból való egy ritka emlék, a Mithras szentély, amelyet a római légiókban harcoló, a napisten kultusz-nak hódoló perzsa katonák építettek az i. sz. előtti iii. században. Fertőrákoson található a nemzetközi hírű, kiváló akusztikájú barlangszínház, amely a magas színvonalú előadásoknak teljesen egyedi légkört kölcsönöz.

Fertőrákos ist die einzige ungarische gemeinde, die eine stadtmauer und ein bischofspalais hatte. Zahlreiche bauwerke der gemeinde stehen heute unter Denk-malschutz. Die unmittelbare umgebung der gemeinde war schon im Altertum bewohnt. unter römischer Herrschaft wuchs die bevölkerung wahrscheinlich stark an. Aus dieser Zeit stammt eine seltene sehenswürdigkeit, die Mithras-Höhle. Das Heiligtum wurde im 3. Jahrhundert v. Chr. von persischen soldaten der römischen Legionen erbaut, die den sonnengott verehrten. in Fertőrákos befindet sich ein international bekanntes Höhlentheater mit hervorragender Akustik und einer ein-zigartigen Atmosphäre.

Fertőrákos is the only small Hungarian town which had its own city wall and bishop’s Palace. the remains of the city wall can be seen at several places even to-day. Many buildings in the town are now protected historical monuments. the area around the town was settled in classical antiquity. the population thrived under roman rule. A rare tourist attraction, the Mithras cave comes from this time. Per-sian soldiers in the roman legion, who worshipped the sun god, built this shrine three centuries before Christ. there is an internationally famous Cave theatre in Fertőrákos, with outstanding acoustics, and a unique atmosphere.

A város területén keresztülfolyó ikva-patak két részre osztja a valamikor különálló településeket, szentmiklóst és szerdahelyet, amelyek 1906-ban Fertőszentmiklós néven egyesültek. Az ikvától keletre eső városrészt 1228-ban említik először árpád-kori oklevelek, a nyugati részt 1261-ben. szentmiklóst a XiV-XV. századtól kezdve már mezővárosként említik, amelyben a XVii. századtól már céhek is működtek. Fertőszentmiklós kiváló földrajzi elhelyezkedésének köszönhetően a térség egyik közlekedési, gazdasági és kulturális központja. A város jelentős idegenforgalmi fejlesztés előtt áll, az ikva folyó mellett mintegy 17 hektáros területen tavat, szabad-idős és turisztikai központot hoznak létre.

Der bach ikva teilt die stadt heute in zwei teile, die früher eigenständige gemein-den waren, szentmiklós und szerdahely. 1906 schlossen sie sich unter dem namen Fertőszentmiklós zusammen. Der östlich der ikva liegende teil der stadt wurde 1228 zum ersten Mal urkundlich erwähnt. Die erste urkundliche erwähnung des westlich der ikva liegenden teils stammt aus dem Jahre 1261. szentmiklós wird vom 14.-15. Jahrhundert an schon als Marktflecken erwähnt. Ab dem 17. Jahrhundert gab es hier auch schon Zünfte. Fertőszentmiklós ist dank seiner günstigen geo-graphischen Lage eines der wirtschaftlichen, verkehrstechnischen und kulturellen Zentren der region. Die stadt plant eine bedeutende entwicklung ihres tourismus, entlang der ikva sollen auf 17 Hektar Land ein see, ein Freizeit- und tourismuszen-trum entstehen.

A little stream named ikva divides the town into two parts. in the past they were in-dependent communities, szentmiklós and szerdahely. in 1906 they were combined with the name Fertőszentmiklós. the part of the town lying east of the ikva was first mentioned in documents in the year 1228. the area west of the stream was first mentioned in the year 1261. szentmiklós was already mentioned as a market town in the 14th and 15th centuries. guilds existed here in the 17th century. because of its central geographical location, Fertőszentmiklós is an economic, transport and cultural centre of the region. the town plans to increase tourism along the ikva by building a 17 hectare recreation centre with a lake.

nagycenkhez kötődik gróf széchenyi istván és az egész széchenyi család életének, munkásságának jelentős része. nagycenk nevezetessége a széchenyi-kastély, széche-nyi istván emlékmúzeum, a Kastélyszálló, a méntelep, a kastély védett parkja, a védett 2700 m hosszú hársfasor melyet 1753-ban ültettek. Fontos látnivaló a széchenyi család sírkápolnája és kriptája, a Múzeumvasút és mozdony skanzen és a széchenyi család kérése alapján ybl Miklós által tervezett szent istván templom, előtte széche-nyi istván szobrával. 1750 körül gróf széchenyi Antal kiscenkre költözött, és meg-építette a kastély mai épületeit. A korábbi kiscenki kastély és park a nagy átépítések idején megszűnt, 1755-1761 között alakult ki a ma is védett franciakert az alléval és a

Das Leben und Wirken der Familie széchenyi ist weitestgehend mit nagycenk verbunden.sehenswürdigkeiten in nagycenk sind das schloss széchenyi, das istván széchenyi-gedenkmuseum, das schlosshotel, das gestüt, der unter schutz stehende Park des schlosses, die unter schutz stehende 2700 m lange Lindenallee, angelegt im Jahre 1753. sehenswert sind auch die begräbniskapelle und Krypta der Familie széchenyi, die Museumseisenbahn und das Lokomotiv-Freilichtmuseum, die sankt stephanskirche, und die vor der Kirche stehende statue von istván széchenyi. um 1750 zieht graf Antal széchenyi nach Kiscenk und erbaut dort sein schloss mit den gebäuden, wie sie heute noch stehen. Ab ca. 1780 wird das gut Kiscenk von graf Ferenc széchenyi, einem Anhänger der Aufklärung, nach modernsten grundsätzen geleitet. er macht Kiscenk zu einem kulturellen Zentrum. 1795 werden in der Dorf-chronik von András Vályi jene sammlungen von Ferenc széchenyi erwähnt, mit denen der graf später das ungarische nationalmuseum gründete.

the life and accomplishments of the széchenyi family are connected with nagy-cenk. the most important sights in nagycenk are the széchenyi Castle, the istvan széchenyi Memorial Museum the Castle Hotel, the horse breeding farm. the castle’s park and the 2,700 meter long promenade bordered by Linden trees which were planted in 1753 are both protected monuments. Other points of interest is the crypt and burial chapel of the széchenyi family, the Museum railway, the open air locomo-tive museum, and the st. stephen’s Church. the family had it designed by Miklós ybl. in front of the church there is a statue of istván széchenyi. Around 1750 Count Antal széchenyi moved to Kiscenk and built his stately home, whose buildings are still standing today. the earlier Kiscenk castle and its park were extensively remodeled; the French garden, with its promenade and carved stone benches were established between 1755 and 1761. they are protected historical monuments today. Count Ferenc széchenyi was a follower of the enlightenment. Around the 1780s, he began to use modern principles to manage his manor and developed Kiscenk into a cultural cen-tre. Later he used his collections to found the Hungarian national Museum.

sopron Magyarország nyugati határa mellett, az Alpok lábainál, bécstől 60, bu-dapesttől 220 km-re található. Az 57 ezer lakosú megyei jogú város az őskor óta lakott település. A római korban egy scarbantia nevű város állt itt, amelyen a híres borostyánkő út haladt át. Az antik város Fóruma a mai Fő tér helyén volt. A honfog-lalás után, a X–Xi. században a régi római városfalat kiegészítették, és felépült a vár is. ekkor kapta magyar nevét a város, suprun nevű ispánjáról. 1153-ban már fontos városként említik. sopron 1277-ben megnyitotta kapuit iV. László király előtt, akinek így sikerült visszafoglalnia a cseh királytól, ezért jutalmul szabad királyi várossá tette. A középkorban a város nem került török hódoltság alá, és lassan a törököktől szabad terület központjává vált. 1553-ban, 1622-ben, 1625-ben, 1635-ben és 1681-ben országgyűléseket is tartottak sopronban.sopron mindig közel volt az országhatárhoz, de a város soha sem tagadta meg ma-gyar voltát, bár a város német polgársága gyakran tett hitet a Habsburgok mellett. széchenyi ösztönzésére itt épült meg 1847-ben hazánk második vasútvonala, amely sopront bécsújhellyel és béccsel kötötte össze. 1921-ben, a trianoni békeszerződés után népszavazás döntötte el, hogy sopron és a környező nyolc község melyik országhoz tartozzon. A soproniak Magyarország mellett döntöttek. ekkortól hívják „a leghűségesebb városnak” (Civitas fidelissima). A szavazás napja, december 14-e azóta is sopron ünnepe. A város jelképének számító tűztorony, a hangulatos Fő tér a barokk szentháromság-szoborral, a Kecske templom, a stornó-ház, a tábornok ház, a Fabricius ház, az esterházy és széchenyi paloták, mind-mind az elmúlt korok kiemelkedő építészeti remekei. ezek még csak töredékei a város műemléki értékeinek. A történelmi levegőt árasztó bel-város hangulatos utcáin sétálva a gótikus, reneszánsz, barokk, klasszicista és eklek-tikus építészet mesterműveit csodálhatjuk meg. A város kulturális életét mindig a sokszínűség jellemezte. 1991. óta újra önálló színházi társulattal működik a soproni Petőfi színház, amely Magyarország második kőszínházaként 1841-ben nyitotta meg kapuit. A „Magyar Művelődés Háza”-ként is ismert Liszt Ferenc Kulturális- és Konferencia Központ a gyermek- és ifjúsági Központtal együtt a legváltozatosabb rendezvénysorozatokkal, képzőművészeti és irodalmi értékek bemutatásával, zenei rendezvényekkel, ifjúsági programokkal szolgál mind a város polgárainak, mind pedig a hozzánk látogatóknak. sopronban alakult meg 1604-ben az ország első tudós társasága Lackner Kristóf polgármesternek köszönhetően. Ma itt van az ország legnagyobb egyetemei közé tartozó, 10 egyetemi karral működő nyugat-ma-gyarországi egyetem központja. sopron 1991-ben megyei jogú városi rangot kapott. ennek a kiemelt szerepkörnek megfelelően a város által nyújtott szolgáltatások köre rendkívül széles.

Die Komitatsstadt mit ihren 57.000 einwohnern ist seit dem Altertum besiedelt. in der römerzeit trug die an der bekannten bernsteinstraße liegende stadt den namen scarbantia. Das Forum der antiken stadt befand sich an der stelle des heutigen Hauptplatzes. nach der Landnahme wurden im 10-11. Jahrhundert die alten römischen stadtmauern ergänzt und eine burg gebaut. Zu der Zeit erhielt die stadt auch ihren ungarischen namen suprun, nach ihrem gespan. 1153 scheint sopron schon als wichtige stadt auf. 1277 öffnete sopron seine tore für König László iV., der die stadt so dem tschechischen König wieder abnehmen konnte. Als belohnung dafür machte König László sopron zur königlichen Freistadt. im Mittelalter geriet die stadt nicht unter türkische Herrschaft und wurde langsam zum Mittelpunkt der türkenfreien gebiete. 1553, 1622, 1625, 1635 und 1681 wurden sogar Landesversammlungen in sopron abgehalten. sopron lag immer in der nähe der Landesgrenze, dennoch leugnete die stadt nie ihre Zugehörigkeit zu ungarn, wenn sich auch die deutschstämmige bürgerschaft wiederholt zu den Habsburgern bekannte. nyi entstand 1847 hier die zweite eisenbahnstrecke ungarns, die sopron mit Wiener neustadt und Wien verband. nach dem Friedensvertag von trianon entschied 1921 eine Volksabstimmung, zu welchem Land sopron und acht umliegende gemein-den gehören wollen. Die soproner entschieden sich für ungarn. Von da an wurde sopron „die treueste stadt” (Civitas fidelissima) genannt. Der tag der Abstim-mung, der 14. Dezember, ist seither ein Feiertag in sopron. Für die bemühungen, die jahrhundertealten Werte und traditionen zu erhalten und zu pflegen, erhielt die stadt 1975 das goldene Abzeichen des europäischen Denkmalpreises.Auch heute lebt sopron als stadt der baudenkmäler im bewusstsein. Das Wahr-zeichen der stadt, der Feuerturm, der stimmungsvolle Hauptplatz mit seiner barocken Dreifaltigkeitssäule, die geißkirche, das storno-Haus, das generalhaus, das Fabricius-Haus, das Palais esterházy und das Palais széchenyi, das alles sind schmuckstücke der Architektur vergangener Zeiten. seit 1991 wird das soproner Petőfi-theater wieder von einem eigenen ensemble bespielt. Dieses theater war übrigens das zweite aus stein erbaute theater ungarns und wurde 1841 eröffnet. Das auch als „ungarisches Kulturhaus” bekannte Franz Liszt Kultur- und Konfe-renzzentrum bietet den bürgern der stadt sowie ihren gästen zusammen mit dem Kinder- und Jugendzentrum ein abwechslungsreiches Veranstaltungsprogramm, künstlerische und literarische Ausstellungen und Veranstaltungen, musikalische Veranstaltungen und Jugendprogramme. in sopron entstand 1604 auf Anregung des bürgermeisters Kristóf Lackner ungarns erste wissenschaftliche gesellschaft. Heute befindet sich hier das Zentrum der Westungarischen universität, die mit 10 Fakultäten zu den größten universitäten in ungarn gehört. sopron erhielt 1991 den rang einer Komitatsstadt. Aufgrund dieser Position hat die stadt ein dementspre-chend breites spektrum an Dienstleistungen zu bieten.

sopron lies on the western border of Hungary, at the foothills of the Alps, just 60 km from Vienna and 220 km from budapest. the city of 57,000 was first settled in classical antiquity. in roman times it was known as scarbantia, and was situated on the famous Amber road. today’s main square was the forum of the ancient city. the ancient roman city wall was expanded and a fort was constructed in the 10th and 11th centuries after the Hungarian conquest. by 1153 sopron was already an important town. in 1277 sopron opened its gates for King László iV, returning it to Hungary after it had been invaded by

the Czechs. As a reward, King László made sopron a royal free city. During the Middle Ages, the city was not under turkish domination, and slowly developed into the centre of the Hungarian area that was not ruled by the turks. there were national assemblies in sopron in the years 1553, 1622, 1625, 1635 and 1681.While sopron was always at the border, it never denied its allegiance to Hungary, although its citizens of german origin expressed their loyalty to the Habsburgs. At the encouragement of széchenyi, Hungary’s second railroad was built here in 1847 linking sopron with Wiener neustadt and Vienna. After the peace treaty of trianon, there was a plebiscite in 1921, to decide which country sopron and eight neighbour-ing towns would belong to. because the people of sopron decided for Hungary, they were given the name “the faithful city,” (Civitas fidelissima). since then, the anniversary of the plebiscite, December 14, has been celebrated as a civic holiday. in 1975, sopron was awarded the european gold prize for monument protection in recognition of its efforts to preserve its centuries old values and traditions.sopron is known today as a city of architectural monuments. some of the jewels of architecture of the past are the Fire Watch-tower, the symbol of the city, the impres-sive Main square, with its baroque trinity statue, the goat Church, stornó House, the tábornok House, the Fabricius House, the esterházy Palace, and the széchenyi Palace.they are only a fraction of the historical monuments of the city. if one strolls through the narrow streets of the inner city, with its historical atmosphere, at every step we see masterpieces of gothic, renaissance, baroque, classic and eclectic styles.Variety was always a characteristic of the cultural life of the city. since 1991 the Petőfi theatre has had its own resident company of players. this theatre was the second theatre in Hungary to be built of stone, and was built in 1841. A great variety of cultural programs are presented at the Franz Liszt Culture and Confer-ence centre and at the Children’s and youth Centre. there are artistic and liter-ary exhibitions and performances, concerts and programs for young people. in 1604 sopron’s mayor Kristóf Lackner encouraged the founding of Hungary’s first scientific society. today sopron is the centre of the university of West Hungary. its ten faculties make it one of the larger universities in Hungary. in 1991 the City of sopron was made a County. this position means that the city offers a wide variety of services.

Az unesCO világörökségi listájára 2001. decemberében került fel a Fertő táj, amellyel elismerték a táj, az itt lévő települések, a kulturális és természeti értékek világviszony-latban is különleges jelentőségét. A felter-jesztést Magyarország és Ausztria közösen kezdeményezte és közös megvalósításban készült el a táj kezelési terve is. Mindez jelzi, hogy az európai unió szellemében nem az ál-lamhatárok, hanem a táj természetes határai szabják meg az együttműködés kereteit.

Die Landschaft neusiedler see wurde im Dezem-ber 2001 in die von der unesCO geführte Liste des Welterbes aufgenommen. Dadurch wurde offiziell anerkannt, dass die hiesigen Ortschaf-ten, die kulturellen und natürlichen Werte von besonderer bedeutung für die ganze Welt sind. Den diesbezüglichen Antrag reichten Öster-reich und ungarn gemeinsam ein und auch der erhaltungsplan entstand in gemeinschaftlicher Arbeit. Das alles zeigt, dass ganz im sinne der europäischen union nicht die staatsgrenzen, sondern die natürlichen grenzen der Landschaft den rahmen der Zusammenarbeit bestimmen.

in December, 2001, the area around Lake Fertő was added to unesCO’s list of World Heritage sites. this was official recognition that the region and these small communi-ties have cultural and natural values which are of significance to the whole world. A joint effort by Austria and Hungary created this conservation plan. this shows that in the spirit of the european union it is no longer political boundaries that matter, but natural landscape boundaries which will determine our areas of common endeavour.

Jahrhundert zu den bedeu-tendsten in ungarn und hatte sich auch internati-onal einen guten ruf erworben. bei Königen und erzherzögen wurden die hervorragenden soproner Weine zum beliebten getränk. in der Zeit der Österreichisch-ungarischen Monarchie galten die Weinbaugebiete sopron-rust-Preßburg unter eben-diesem namen als eine einzige Weinregion. Die wertvollsten Lagen unserer Weinbauregion sind die Hänge am neusiedler see mit ihren heute ca. 1500 Hektar Anbaufläche. Das spezielle Mikroklima des neusiedler sees, der mineralstoffreiche boden

verleihen dem hier gewachsenen Wein einen be-sonderen Charakter. 1987 verlieh die internationale Organisation für rebe und Wein sopron den titel „stadt der rebe und des Weins“, wohl eine eindeu-tige Anerkennung unseres Weinbaugebietes. es gibt eben nicht viele Weinbaugebiete mit einer so großen Vielfalt an Weinen, vom guten, trockenen Weißwein über körperreiche rotweine bis hin zu edlen spätlesen. sopron gilt als die Hauptstadt des blaufränkisch. neben dem blaufränkisch werden hier aber auch Zweigelt, Cabernet sauvignon, Mer-lot und Pinot noir in größeren Mengen angebaut. Die für die region typischen weißen rebsorten sind grüner Veltliner, sauvignon blanc, Chardon-nay, traminer, Zenit – eine ungarische Züchtung – und der frühe rote Veltliner.

A térség természeti adottságai között a sajátos klímával rendelkező soproni hegység mellett a legnagyobb értéket a termálvíz-kincs jelenti. Kiemelkedő jelentősége miatt a soproni Lővereket klimatikus gyógyhellyé nyilvánították. A soproni állami szanatóri-umban az egészségtudomány legkorszerűbb kutatási eredményeinek felhasználásával gyó-gyítják a szív- és érrendszeri, a neurológiai és a mozgásszervi betegségeket. A nemzetközi hírű balfi gyógyvízhez egy komplex gyógyfür-dő-kórház épült számtalan szolgáltatással. Hegykőn és Petőházán termálfürdő üzemel, melyek közül Hegykő termálvize minősített gyógyvíz. A fürdő medencéit 1434 méter mélyről feltörő 56°C fokos termálvíz látja el, Petőháza 1348 méter mélységből feltörő ter-málvize 45°C fokos. termálvizeink elsősorban mozgásszervi panaszok hatásos gyógyítására alkalmasak.

Das soproner Löwerviertel (Lőverek) ist aufgrund dieses besonderen Klimas auch offiziell ein Luftkurort. im soproner staatlichen sanatorium werden Herz- und gefäßerkrankungen, neurolo-gische Leiden und erkrankungen des bewe-gungsapparates nach neuesten medizinischen und wissenschaftlichen erkenntnissen behan-delt. um die international bekannte Heilquelle in balf entstand ein ganzer Heilbadkomplex mit einem umfassenden Angebot an Dienstleis-tungen. in Hegykő und Petőháza befinden sich thermalbäder, das thermalwasser in Hegykő ist zudem als Heilwasser anerkannt. Das becken wird mit 56°C warmem Wasser aus 1434 Meter tiefe gespeist, in Petőháza kommt das Wasser aus 1348 Meter tiefe und ist 45°C warm. Das thermalwasser unserer bäder ist vor allem für die behandlung von erkrankungen des bewe-gungsapparates hervorragend geeignet.

A környező vidékről hű képet kapunk, ha a Károlymagaslat (398m), vagy a Várhely (483m) kilátóiból tekintünk szét a vidéken. észak felé a város és a Fertő tó terül el, nyu-gatra pedig a rax (2006m) és a schneeberg (2075m) hósapkás csúcsai láthatók. A sop-roni-hegység legmagasabb pontja Magyar-országon a Magas bérc (558m), Ausztriában pedig a brenn-tető (608m). tavak, patakok és források teszik változatossá a hegyvidéket. A soproni-hegység szubalpin jellegű klímájával, sajátos, csak az Alpokaljára jellemző tájképi értékeivel, jellegzetességeivel 67 védett és fokozottan védett növényfajnak és több száz védett állatfajnak ad otthont. A hegységben lombos erdők váltakoznak fenyvesekkel. A soproni parkerdő az ország második legláto-gatottabb parkerdeje, évente egymilliónál is több látogató keresi fel.

Von den Aussichtspunkten auf der Karlshöhe (Károlymagaslat) (398 m) oder dem burgstall (Várhely) (483 m) öffnet sich ein repräsentativer blick über die Landschaft. in richtung norden erstrecken sich die stadt und der neusiedler see, im Westen sind die schnee-bedeckten gipfel der rax (2006 m) und des schneebergs (2075 m) zu sehen. Die höchstge-legenen Punkte des Ödenburger gebirges sind auf ungarischem gebiet der Hohe riegel (Magas bérc) (558 m) und auf österreichischem gebiet der brentenriegel (brenn-tető) (608 m). seen, bäche und Quellen machen das gebirge zu einer abwechslungsreichen Landschaft. Mit seinem subalpinen Klima, seinen für die Alpenausläufer typischen landschaftlichen besonderheiten und Charakteristika bietet das Ödenburger gebirge 67 geschützten und besonders geschützten Pflanzenarten sowie mehreren hundert geschütz-ten tierarten ein Zuhause. Laubwälder und nadelwälder wechseln sich hier ab. Der soproner Parkwald wird pro Jahr von mehr als einer Million Ausflüglern besucht und ist somit der am zweit-häufigsten fequentierte Parkwald in ungarn.
