Important Information about This Release

Dear Student,

Congratulations on receiving the SimXpert 2013 Student Edition, one of MSC

Softwares new Student Edition offerings. This Delivery Letter will help you get

acquainted with your software package. We want to make sure you are aware of all

the valuable resources available to support your use of SimXpert 2013 Student

Edition.

Please note the following details regarding the SimXpert 2013 Student Edition:

The license for this product is valid for approximately 2 years from the

software build date.

This software is only available for the Windows 32 platform. It may be installed

on Windows 64-bit hardware, but will run in 32-bit mode.

This version should only be used for academic work. The student version is designed for small, academic simulations only; there

are limits on the number of components that can be in the models created.

Please read before installing MSC SimXpert 2013Student Edition

This document contains important information about the MSC SimXpert 2013 Student Edition

that is notcontained in the Release Guideand/or Installation and Operations Guide:

Hardware Known issues (Logitech RX250 Mouse)Reproduc ible crash w ith Logitech RX250 Mouse:

Workaround: Install Logitech Mouse driver, e.g. setpoint480b.exe for RX250 mouse from thislocation:http://www.logitech.com/de-de/support/mice/3141?section=downloads&osid=14

What Else:If there are still issues with horizontal scrolling, disable it in Logitech software

Motion Workspace Known issues:Python exception error is posted while creating the flexible part once the limit of 20 motionobjects is reached.

Along with python exception error, limit exceeding error note also is posted. User can continueto work after this message is posted.

Python exception error is coming while loading the 'Helix' example model with 21 or moresegments.

Along with python exception error, limit exceeding error note also is posted. While loading aHelix example model, the number of segments entered should be 20 or less.

Structures Workspace Known issues

SimXpert can't attach resul t fil e if it has 5000 nodes.If a FE model with upper limit of nodes (5000) is solved, the result file will not get attached.

Workaround: Try to use FE model with 4999 or less nodes. Result file containing 4999 nodesgets attached without any problem.

SimXpert can't create the LBC for 5000 node fileSimXpert cannot add loads or boundary conditions to a model which contains the upper limit of 5000nodes.

Workaround: Try to use FE model with 4999 Nodes or less than that for applying LBC. Oncethe LBC is created then user can add nodes to make the count 5000.

Disassemble Solids won't work when we have exactly 100 solids in the modelDisassemble Solids does not work if the upper limit of 100 Solids are used

Workaround: Disassemble works well if numbers of solids are less than the upper limit.
