WE CONTINUOUSLY STRIVE FOR THE HIGHEST QUALITY IN OUR PERSONAL, PROFESSIONAL, AND ORGANIZATIONAL ENDEAVORS. STUDENT ORGANIZATION ACCOMPLISHMENTS 2018-19 REPRESENTATION & PARTICIPATION There are 14 Seidman Student Organizations, with Women in Business the newest organization to be formed this year. There were 1,554 student members, approximately 35% of the total Seidman student body. LEARNING & GROWING Seidman students attended 6 state & national conferences, toured various companies and facilities, and participated in over 5 pitch or idea competitions.

    REPRESENTATION & PARTICIPATIONNot only did 35% of Seidman students join a student organization, but participation within a studentorganization improves classroom success, personal development, and connection to the university,elevating our student body across the college (Kilgo et al., 2016). One new organization was formed, Women in Business. Carol Sanchez serves as the group's advisor.

    MAKING A DIFFERENCEStudents dedicated countless time and service hours to 23 different community organizations such as:Kid's Food Basket, Habitat for Humanity, United Way of West Michigan, Junior Achievement,Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), and many more. Many organizations focused on paying it forward to younger generations, providing teaching andmentorship to East Kentwood Future Fest, Boys and Girls Club, and the ABLE Mentorship Programthrough Grand Rapids Public Schools.

    LEARNING & GROWINGOrganizations were continually taking the lessons learned in the classrooms and sharing them withtheir peers around the country. Many attended national conferences with industry leaders. TheInvestment Portfolio Organization attended Berkshire Hathaway's Shareholders Meeting whoselineup of speakers included Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, and Charlie Munger.The American Marketing Association visited Chicago for a tour of the Blackhawk's facilities, withadditional tours of Founder's Brewing Company, and the Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit. AMA alsoreceived national honorable mention for their case competition team.

    STUDENTS TO EMPLOYEESOver 45 different companies and employers visited the various student organizations this past year.Many had representatives serving on panels to share their insights, review resumes, and even conductspeed interviews. These events not only provide great access to employers, but strengthen therelationships we have with them as well. The Seidman Supply Chain Management Association itself brought in 19 different employers.Companies such as Steelcase, Amway, Herman Miller, and UPS provided facility tours, resumeworkshops and reviews.
