When we were little girls, we used to dream about prince charming, that he would save the day and take us to his castle after fighting all dangers, just to be with us. With time, you realize that men in general are more like prince toad, if you’re lucky. And sometimes, finally after age 30, you learn that actually you only need a villain to provide pleasure.

And just about it is what my column is about. Never, not even in a thou-sand years would I have thought that a college classmate that I didn’t even like would become my lover for many years, and even worse! My friend.

How did that happen? I’m not sure, I only

remember that one day we had nothing to do while they were cleaning the work-shops in the school, so we started talking for some reason and suddenly he kissed me. That moment was the last one in ten years that I could resist him, because I tried, but at the end he did it and from there everything became a story of pas-sion, drama, sex and friendship.

We both know that we are not meant to be together, so we decided that we will enjoy our chemistry without go-ing further. It has been 10 years and through them we had sex, drama, sex, sex, drama, sex, drama, sex, sex and more sex, until one day, out of the blue, friendship appeared.

Just like the first kiss, one day with nothing to do, he sent me a message and we started texting about the last time we were together and suddenly it was all laughter, like old friends talking about the sexual performance of each other and mistakes.

I didn’t even realize when this became something frequent. Then we text about our exes, what to wear or how did we look in one or other picture, we joked about everything, or even asked each others opinions regarding work.

Until one day I realized and said to myself: Wait! What is going on here? At the beginning it was disconcerting,

but to be honest it was because I only saw him at that moment like a piece of steak and now it turned out that he was becoming a human being, with feelings, emotions and all.

After thinking about it for too long, finally I acepted it, understood it and enjoyed it. Seriously, who can be a best friend than somebody that knows you when you are naked in every sense and instead of judging you, he laughs with you? I be-lieve that I am lucky. I have a man with whom I have no commitment, but who I can run to for support, or as a friend. But, if you still believe this is not such a great idea, just remember: Leisure is the moth-er of all vices.

It is always important to have a good manicure according to trends or sea-sons, but colors sometimes seem to be against our skin tone.

Reason why Models Own has wonder-ful tips for you, so you’ll be able to se-lect the perfect nail polish color that will make your hands look better than ever.

If your skin tone is WARM, meaning, light brown or white, the best for you and your nails is to use yellow, red and orange colors.

25

by models owncolorimetria

If your skin tone is COLD, for ex-ample, too white or dark brown, we recommend you use pink, purple, blue and black colors.

Is really easy to identify which color you have on your hands skin, if you do not know it yet.

Your skin is warm if everytime your skin is exposed to sun you easily tan, if your skin becomes red, your skin is cold.

Since 2006, Alejandro has worked as a model. With 6 ft 2 in of height and

an awesome appearance, everyone told him he should work in the modeling in-dustry, so, he did.

In an interview he told us, that being a Mexican makes it slightly bit difficult to work in the country, due to the compe-tition with foreigners –south american mainly- plus the size of the industry in Mexico, that is quite young, makes it difficult to discover talent.

Nevertheless, he believes that good representation, discipline and coher-ence can help anyone achieve success.

Besides, a good feature about being a male model is that, compared to women, they can still work for a longer period of time.

He has been a blogger for three years now, one of them with Posh People.

He owes the approachement to fash-ion to International Designers Mexico, he loved the idea to share what he was living with others, they started asking him stuff about fashion and it made him to be more and more interested.

He believes that there are great tal-ents on Mexico, everyday you learn new stuff of everything that happens around you, there are parts of you that get imprinted on what you do, and then, you simply desire to share them, you value them more.

Bloggers have the advantage to be close to people, but in Mexico, brands and me-dia don’t value what they do, so there is still a long way to make it an affordable and recognize work.

Javier Romero is a creative hairdresser. He has dedicated his career to travelling around the world representing Mexico, educating young hairdress-ers. Besides, he has worked for runways, editori-als, designers collections, and similarly with almost every designer, producer and stylist in Mexico.

He has studied cinema and photography, but on his path he discovered that hairdressing was the right path for him.

About Fashion industry, he considers that there are two branches. The first one is the one he loves, which consist of the creative process, talking to the designer, working together. The second one, is the stereotypical part, segregated, it’s a part of fashion that wears him out, to which he feels less tolerance each day, since in Mexico everything progresses depending on friendship.

Javier commented in a interview, that he believes that in fashion you have to add, so as hairdress-ers he adds his work to the work of designers, photographers and stylists.

Since he was a young child, Jose, felt passion for Fashion. He had his first encounter with

makeup and characterization due to his ballet and acting classes.

One day he went to a casting on a makeup agency, and that’s how he started developing his talent as a professional makeup artist.

“Every day is a new challenge, I consider myself a really lucky guy because many doors have opened for me, big doors, internationals. Like everything, it’s all about not removing the finger from the line and always giving the best of yourself but, above all to keep it simple, never forgetting that there is a lot of people who believe in you. It is basic to keep true to yourself every day.”

Among the things that amaze him regarding the industry, is that makeup takes at least 2 years to be created. From the time that the chemical gets mixed, there is a story behind it and millions of people working for it to reach the hands of the consumer.

Following her style, Infatuation brings pieces like circular skirts, shirts, dresses, jackets baggy pants with pleats and full skirts with transparency textures and geometric cuts.

Also, the jewelry brand L´IMPÉRATRICE collaborated with different designs such as, fruit necklaces like mint col-ored bananas, yellow grapes, and black strawberries. On her side, Alejandra experimented with hand embroided pieces, being the shoes and handbags what called more to the attention of people because of the tornasol color it presented.

New behaviors born from the inter-action between artisans work and design. The result is a permanent es-thetic where everything is recycled, where nothing is ever old, nothing is ever new. The shapes go from me-chanic, screws, spirals, robots, wheels, rustic forms, compass or tools.

In the color palette we find blue, gray, black, gold, silver, green and Brown, with accents in primary colors, gold and cooper. The materials were: silver, cooper, wood, resins, glass, acrylic, steel, wood, plastic and everything that could be reused.

Soumaya Museum received four-teen young designers who took

Mexico as an inspiration for their first collections. The created designs were made for woman, plus sizes, children and seniors.

The night began by introducing Helmy Alboreya and H.A.A.T. her brand. Her col-lection was based in clothing for children mixing art and symmetry. It is important to mention that one of the best things re-garding this runway were the models. The little children walked like professionals.

We saw several clothing changes, all with the same characteristics, such as yellow, red, black colors and prints. There were some details about confection and asymmetrical cuts, nevertheless, the idea, even a little extravagant, achieves a unique design and 100% Mexican in-spired by the Huichol art.

Second designer to present was Maria Teresa Reyes with her brand Mayter. On the runway we saw a collection for girls with an urban and chic style, ad hoc for the city.

The base colors were white, gray and purple. And even when her pieces where basic, almost in every design she plays with the fabrics making them look elegant and confortable for the girls, besides she inspired by the piña-tas, a quite mexican tradition. After that, we familiarized with Mir-acle06 by Gabriela Galván, who was inspired by the mexican blue but-terfly. In her collection she showed a lot of V cleavage that help stand out the lines marked in the piece. A col-lection quite commercial, since most of it can be used separately, creating new looks.

Finally, to close the children’s section of the event, we had designer Merce Paulo presenting her brand Melshy.

Her collection was inspired in architec-ture. It was bold and a little extravagant, with a mixture of fabrics and colors quite different to what we are accus-tomed to seeing.

It consisted of skirts and pants, and even though they may seem like basic pieces, the details like plies, made them look authentic and innovative and, why not? Futuristic.

An urban and alternative collection was what Fanny Lizbeth presented with her brand Gibson Dolls. Designed for teens with an inclination to the gothic style.

Most designs were black and wine, ac-companied by prints. The collection was conformed by simple pieces and some of them didn’t help shape the womens figure. The designs were in-spired in Godess Coatlicue.

KG, Karen Gomez brand, presented lin-gerie designs, which sometimes can be a real challenge. We women like to feel sexy and comfortable at the same time, and that is exactly what the designer brought to the runway.

She offered several coordinates with lace in black colors with red highlights, emphasizing womens silhouette and giving it a touch of femme fatale.

After KG, we were able to see the cre-ations of Vanesa Espindola, with her brand Brivanga Palbriga, a mexican brand that thought in plus sizes girls, inspired in the Mudejar art was conformed by long skirts and asymmetrical blouses in blue and brown colors.

The idea of making clothes for women with curves is good but in this collection the objective could not be covered. The blouses were way too short and wide on the sides, allowing to show more skin than intended, nevertheless the skirts had attractive designs and cuts.

Next came Nai Ortega, brand or Nayeli Ortega, the collection was inspired in the organic agave, she presented pieces in blue tones and transparencies making it simple and urban.

On the basis of pink brown and white colors Daniela Salazar with her brand Annie Zamora created a simple collection, seeking comfort with pants and shorts.

Transparencies were present, but in some pieces its location caused the models to show more skin than intended.

After that we were able to enjoy the work of designer Abigail Espi-nosa with her homonymous brand. A collections inspired by architecture of Xilitla’s Surreal Garden in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

With a touch of elegance, Abigail presented a collection with deep cleavage and asymmetric cuts , pieces a little bit difficult to use for its short and close fitting style, only for different and daring women.

The pieces were created for the ro-mantic woman that wishes to remain with a fresh look. Designs had princess cuts and many details like bows and candy abstractions.

This collection has highly commercial potential, and the details were sublime, definitely one of the pleasant surprises of the night.

Finally, to finish with evening the brand McCracken by Jimena Gutierrez was presented. A mix of fabrics in various designs, created for senior woman that seek elegance.

On her designs she abused the use of materials and exaggerated in the sleeves, but separately, pieces can be used and look good.

The fabrics that stood out the most were bamboo fibers and organic cotton. About the garments, the ones that are worth emphasizing are shoes with vari-ous fabrics and the guayaberas (typical shirt of yucatan) in several colors that showed great comfort and freshness.

Later we saw the work of the brand Apple Tea, represented by Natalia Fer-riz with the collaboration of Erika Ponce, owner of the accessory brand Mina Romina. The collection named “Espejis-mos” (Mirages), showed designs made with gauze, cotton and knitted fabric,

The third one to show off his designs was Marco Manero, designer from Torreon, Coahuila. Graduate fron the Institute of Superior Studies in Fashion and Design (IESMODI) he presented a collection

about people that love nightlife, inspired in the en la bitterness and Amaral’s song entitled “Sin ti, no soy nada” (Without you I am nothing.)

Manero commented that in his designs he wanted to represent the feelings that a person has when he or she falls into bitterness, through the use of various colors that represent the coldness of the heart, loneliness, rain and cloudy days.

After that, Pineda Covalin made a demostration of designs inspired in dreams and diversity, which carry different prints on its clothing, like dream catchers, caribbean coral and Huahuas dance.

The prints on their collection were truly edgy and flamboyant. “Is an exercise game. Is taking daring mix-tures, being really respectfull wih the DNA of the brand, but at the same time delivering what I am as a design-er” were the words of Jorge Duque, who collaborated in the making of this collection.

As the last edition, Punto were in charge of the closure on the first day. Silvia Castrejon and Efrain Torner displayed a collection totally inspired by William Shakespeare’s novel “A midsummer night’s dream”, from where they took these ideas of creating designs based on toxic flowers that make people have the urge to fall in love.

At the same time they combined these ideas with experiences of their friends who have fallen into drug abuse. This is how Punto brings some designs quite transparent, some in plastic, vinyl, and unique accessories that are flower shaped.

Esperemos pronto.

Under the slogan “Mexico is vanguard” Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Mexico began, returning

to its original location: Campo Marte.

By: Jimena Bustamante

It has been some time since Runway Mexico did not cover this event because the press attention is a very rude. You have to join really long lines to enter into each runway no matter what kind of identification you have.

The photographers area is even worse, is where the atmosphere is the heaviest, due to the fact that everyone is fighting for the best place and they forget good manners. Also, in the runway room there are nonexistent rows, where they have no seats and the public has to appreciate the fashion show standing.

But leaving behind bad organization, this edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Mexico gave us a lot of surprises.

We had two formats to see collections: The first one was the runway salon and the second one, The box, a place where each designer can chose its scenario, giving an artistic touch to fashion.

Trista inaugurated the week presenting Querida Fina on The box. Inspired by a letter that Porfirio Diaz sent to his cousin to ask her hand in mar-riage, it was a collection that was divided into three parts: The first one remembering farmers, the second one based on the parties that high so-ciety used to have, and the last one in the growth of travelers and sportswear.

We were able to appreciate simple pieces with draping and cuts that could leave you breathless, besides, we had the opportunity to see Anna Fusoni

and some others industry figures as models, they showed us a collection in black with a sporty con-cept, shoes were made by Altura Siete.

Alejandro Carlin presented his collection on the second day, using gold as the primary color, us-ing it on belts, which was quite accurate since most of the other pieces had flaws on patterning.

Cynthia Buttenklepper and Natalie Amkie share scenario at The box, where, sadly the lighting was too weak to appreciate the designs.

Cynthia created a collection with a lot of transparen-cies, using blacks, greens and whites in asymmetrical cuts. It was a psychedelic presentation out of reality, generating an interesting performance.

On her side Natalie presented elaborate pieces in blue, black and white colors, with an offer of various dresses us-ing some transparencies, nothing new. The making of the dresses was weird, senseless. Without a doubt, we ex-pected more from her.

The surprise of the day was that Alejan-dra Quesada joined Grupo Axo to take her brand around the world. Infatuation is the name and inspiration that took her to create this collection full of brilliant col-ors going from pink, green, orange and blue with a touch of litmus, all focused into making commercial pieces.

Elle Mexico Diseña. This time the maga-zine brought three winners from its 2012 edition to present their collections: Edgar Lozano , Emedel Garcia and Vero Diaz .

Edgar Lozano presented Bésame (Kiss me) his collection, trying to imprint a feminine, but dramatic style in it. Dresses in black and white color conformed it. Emedel Garcia and his collection named Campo de Batalla (Battlefield) present-ed a variety of cleavage with golden accessories. It also used transparencies in a risky way. Using white and black as the basis of her collection, Vero Diaz presented Weakness, with a classic style we saw solid pieces with details such as black leather belts, and embroided flowers in blue colors.

Lorena Saravia. With a minimalistic style created a contemporary collection with a lot of geommetry, being an instrospec-tive of her brand. Using neutral colors and really simple cuts she stood out giving an elegant silhouette to women.

On a colaboration with Patricio Campillo, fashion editor, she also presented a collec-tion for gentlemen, using rough materials like neoprene and leather, expressing a balance between contemporary and masculine.

Royal closet. With a middle east inspi-ration, Royal Closet brought designs with juvenile silhouettes. A color palette where magenta, aquamarine and various tones of brown and orange predominat-ed, using animal and ethnical prints, pieces like shorts, and pants were what stood out mostly in the collection. Accessories were eye catching, created especially for this collection by Gustavo Helguera.

Last Sunday, September 29th, the conclusion of “Mercedes Benz Fash-

ion Week” was held. That day we were able to appreciate exquisite and unique designs, made by some of the most important mexican designers, such as Julia y Renata, Jorge Duque and the fa-vorite and conceptual brand, Malafacha, as well as the designs presented by the students of CENTRO college.

The fist collection on the runway was in charge of the students of Centro: Aidee Ceballos, Daniela Cordero, Ivanna Heredia and Martha Pandelo; who allowed us to see designs for men and women. Quite stylish with a sober color tendency and elegant, the predominant fabrics were wool, silk, cotton and leather.

The next ones to display creativity were the sisters Julia and Renata who presented various styles, with loose fabrics that fit the women body in an impecable way, inspired by the work of sculptor Richard Serra and potter-ist Hans Coper. The use of colors such

as green or orange made their designs look fresh. The most incredible was the runway closure, when models stayed motionless. Lights went off putting an orange spot light on the models while they revolved on its own axis and a play-list with words like: cut, paste, extract, triturate was playing.

After that, colombian designer Jorge Duque, revealed designs inspired by a photograph of Gala and Salvador Dali. The highlight, was the use of satin and metal-lic fabrics, as well as the deployment of colors like gold, blue, black and white.

Finally, the closing was conducted by Malafacha on The box format. Their col-lection named “En el sauce, la mariposa” (In the willow, a butterfly) created a relaxing ambience, pieces in white fabrics, with interesting and experimental cuts they dressed the models, who made a perfor-mance by movements that seems to be a butterfly trapped in the branches of the willow behind them.

There is a good intention that MBFWMx becomes a value platform for Mexico, the question is: when? We hope to see that day soon.

Succulent plants were the inspiration for the FW13 y SS14 collections of

Inspired by the shapes of these plants, she created pieces with fabrics such as silk and velvet putting them against wool, leather and transparencies. It is a strong collection, dark and feminine at the same time.

Being a collection of two series, Fall/Winter 2013 and Spring/Summer 2014, she presented the first part of it, that its vinculated to the esthethics of the pieces in a clear, direct and visual way.

Stella McCartney and Adidas pre-sented their SS14 collection, con-formed by a selection of vivid and brilliant colors, as well as vintage silhouettes with daring prints. This season seeks to high-light feminine structures and to combine various kinds of textiles, creating a fusion between func-tionality and style in every piece.

“This season was inspired by urban landscapes, its colors and tones, the pieces made for outdoor sports are very graphic, the opposite occured for the designs that were made to be used indoors, it takes vintage designs. We also tried to incorporate ecologic elements.

Not only did we use organic cotton and recycled wool, but we also tried to diminish residues to the maximum” co-mented Stella McCartney.

All the pieces of the Spring-Summer collection will be available in stores beginning in January 2014.
