Here are a few exa mples: One of their many amazing achievements was the aqueducts, which were designed to bring water from far away in the mountains and springs and bring it back to the city for use. You see, these were so cool because (1) they were so big, (2) they carried water effectively, and (3) they went on for miles. One aqueduct, that fed the City of Rome, went on for about 70 miles. It was called Aqua Traiana and it was built by hand, block by block. In my opinion, that¶s pretty impressive. The picture above shows you how an aqueduct works. The Romans typically fed their aqueducts from a spring up in the mountains. This provided a high spot to start the downward slope and the water from the springs were (and are) very clean so it¶s like their own personal purified water source. One aqueduct, that fed the City of Rome, went on for about 70 miles. It was called Aqua Traiana and it was built by hand, block by block. In my opinion, that¶s pretty impressive. Another one of Rome¶s cool achievements was their concrete. Their recipe was one of the recipes used up until Portland concrete was invented in 1824, which is the kind used by just about everyone today. It was a major thing because it meant that they could build larger stone structures because they could keep the stone together better. Here¶s a fun one: Mythology.
