YMC-Pack ODS-AQ is a C18 reversed phase silica based HPLC packing material specificallydesignedforusein100%aqueouseluents.Asaresultoftheproprietaryderivatisationprocess,YMC-PackODS-AQexhibitsadifferentselectivitytothatoftraditionalC18stationaryphases.ThisdifferenceinselectivityofYMC-PackODS-AQcanbeusedtoadvantageforHPLCseparations,whicharedifficulttoachievewithconventionalC18columns. TheproprietaryYMCderivatisationprocesscreatesthedifferentselectivityofYMC-PackODS-AQ,where:
1.Theactivityofacidicunreactedsilanolsisreduced,allowingmoderatelybasiccompoundstobeelutedwithlittleornopeaktailing.
2.Thebalancedhydrophilic/lipophilicnatureoftheYMC-PackODS-AQstationaryphaseleadstostrongretentionsofpolarsamplesoluteseveninaqueouseluents.
ThesepropertiesofYMC-PackODS-AQarebeneficialforseparationsofpolarorganiccompounds,whichtendnottoberetainedorareunresolvedwhenconventionalC18columnsareused.
