Welcome!
You enter this Church not as a stranger, but as a guest of God. As a baptized person, you enter it as a son or daughter of the Father in Christ. This House of God, therefore, is your family home. Come in then with humility of mind,
joy of heart and thanks on your lips. Come in and pause in prayer in the midst of your busy life and its many worries.
Fifth Sunday of Easter, April 29, 2018
Saul witnesses the risen Jesus and boldly proclaims His Lordship. We proclaim our belief in Jesus by our love for one another. He is the vine and we are the branches. Together let us praise His name in our
assembly of worship.

Evangelization: The Mission of the Laity That the lay faithful may fulfill their specific mission, by responding with
creativity to the challenges that face the world today.
The rose bush is a beautiful bush. Its' flower is a symbol love, romance and joy. This is the most popular flower for Valentines day. It can tell someone "I love you" and it can tell someone "I'm sorry." It is often sent to someone who is sick to show caring and this bush can also be an image of God’s plan of salvation for us. If someone were to plant a rose bush, they would also need to know how to care for it. The rose bush will need to be watered, have the right amount of sunlight, must be protected from the wind, and to be pruned in order to produce beautiful flowers. If the rose bush gets too much or not enough water, the bush will die. If it gets too much sun, it will dry up, but if it doesn't get enough sunshine, it will not be able to get the nourishment it needs and will die. If not protected from harsh winds, it will be uprooted and die. If the bush has any branches that are not bearing flowers, they will be cut off and thrown out. And one of the worst thing one can do to a rose bush is to let it grow wild. The bush becomes so big that it will need all the water, sunshine and nourishment just to sustain the bush, leaving little to nothing for the flowers to bloom. And a rose bush that does not produce flowers is destroyed. In today's Gospel, Jesus tell the disciples, "I am the true vine and the Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit." The rose bush requires the same care. God the Father created the rose bush, provides the water, sunshine, nourishment and gives us the intellect to care for it so we can enjoy the beauty of his creation. We also are called to bear fruit and our Father has provided all our needs. Jesus is the vine, you and I are the branches. The rose bush must provide the flower and you and I must provide the fruit. So what must we do in order to bear much fruit? Jesus gives us the answer. "Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me, you can do nothing." Jesus also tells us a branch cannot bear fruit unless it remains on the vine, neither can we bear fruit unless we remain in him. Jesus says "if you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you." And Jesus tells us, "You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you." The word that Jesus refers to is love. In 1 John 3, he says, "Children, let us not love in word or speech but in deed and truth." Our deeds of love and truth are our fruits. We find these fruits of love and truth in Jesus' life and his teachings. He taught us not only to pray, but how to pray. He taught us how to love by the life he lived, from the manger, all the way to the cross. We are called to love everyone and in every situation to love. He taught us the healing that comes from forgiveness, the love that is shown in charity, through the compassion found in acts of kindness, humility created in service to others, and our need of God’s mercy in our lives and in the world. He taught us about our Father. He taught us the strength in obedience, the power in sacrifice and the endurance in hope. We are called to live in His truth, to obey His word, to allow His word to guide us in right ways. It is by loving always and living always in His truth that we are able to bring God into others' lives. "For it is by this fruit our Father in heaven is glorified, that bear much fruit and become my disciples." Be a rose for our Savior, Jesus Christ. God bless you! Deacon Mike Woiwode

May Crowning of Mary
May 5th & May 6th
Coronation is a form of reverence shown
to the image of Mary. This custom began
in the 16th century. A special rite was
composed in the 19th century and
incorporated into the Roman liturgy.
By means of this rite, the Church
proclaims the Blessed Virgin Mary is rightly regarded
and invoked as Queen because she is the Mother of the
Son of God. She is the chosen companion of the
Redeemer, the perfect follower of Christ and the
foremost member of the Church.
Everyone is invited to bring a flower to present to the
image of Mary during the crowning in the
Prayer Garden.

Prayer for Vocations
Lord of the Harvest, help us to create a true culture of discernment and vocations in our
parish so that all of us in this parish family may seek to faithfully offer our lives as a loving response to your first gift of life and love.
Illumine our families to be a light, working together to bring your kingdom of
justice and peace, not just here in this community, but in the whole world.
By your Holy Spirit, may our hearts burn more and more to know
Your Son, Jesus Christ, and to make Him known forever. Amen.
Amen.
REGISTRATION 2018
Now is the time to enroll your children for the 2018-2019 school year at
Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School. Stop by the Religious Education Office or
call Deacon Jeff Arner at 855-2685 for more information.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE SUCCESSFUL
EXPANSION OF OUR CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Saint Thomas Aquinas Prayer
St. Thomas Aquinas, patron of students and Catholic schools, I thank God for the gifts of light and knowledge he bestowed on you,
which you used to build up the Church in love.
I thank God, too, for the wealth and richness of theological teaching you left in your writings. Not only were you a great teacher, you lived a
life of virtue, and you made holiness the desire of your heart.
If I cannot imitate you in the brilliance of your academic pursuits, I can follow you
in the humility and charity which marked your life.
As St. Paul said, “Charity is the greatest gift, and it is open to all.”
Pray for me that I might grow in holiness and charity.
Pray also for Catholic schools, And for all students.
In particular, please pray the growth of the Catholic School here at
Our Lady of the Lake Parish. Amen
Mass in the Mountains
Hualapai Mountain Park Sunday, June 10th Mass at 11:00 am
Bring your own picnic lunch, drinks, and a dessert to share.
Games and activities will be available for youth and adults.
State Tuition Organizations
Dear Parishioners, We will be welcoming representatives from Catholic Education Arizona and Arizona Tuition Connection on April 28th and 29th to share the benefits that Catholic Schools have brought to parish life around the diocese. They will also be available to answer questions about designating your Arizona state income tax to cover tuition for children at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School. They will also be hosting a meeting for all parents of children in our school on Monday, April 30th at 6:00 pm in our parish hall. Then, on Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm, they will be here to explain how businesses can also direct their Arizona income tax toward tuition. This is a new and potentially powerful opportunity for businesses here to greatly assist the expansion of Catholic education in Lake Havasu. We are grateful for their expertise and support in this endeavor.
Blessings, Father Chauncey
Prayer to Saint Michael, the Archangel
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we
humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of
souls. Amen.
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER (For those who are not able to receive Communion at this time)
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into
my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least
spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself
wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
Remember that the Communion being offered around the back of the Church is strictly
reserved for those who are physically unable to safely come forward for Communion. It is
also, of course, for the family or friend who is here to assist the person.
We remember as well, that Our Lord, present in the Blessed Sacrament, is always to be
revered and adored. Therefore, remember to stop and reverence Him in the Blessed
Sacrament until He has passed by completely.

Refrain: We have been told, we’ve seen his face, and heard his voice alive in our hearts; “Live in my love with all your heart, as the Father has loved me, so I have loved you.” “I am the vine, you are the branches, and all who live in me will bear great fruit.” “You are my friends, if you keep my commands, no longer slaves, I call you friends.” “No greater love is there than this: to lay down one’s life, for a friend.”

Our God Reigns Leonard E. Smith, Jr.
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of Him who brings good news, good news. Announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness, our God reigns, our God reigns. Refrain: Our God reigns, our God reigns, our God reigns, our God reigns! Out from the tomb He came with grace and majesty, He is alive, He is alive, God loves us so, see here His hands, His feet, His side. Yes, we know, He is alive.

Oración a San Miguel Arcángel

Gloria a Nuestro Dios Tradicional
