Kelley Gonzales
Resource Conservation Manager
November 2003 2
Program AnnouncementTO: All University Faculty, Staff and Administration FROM: Fran SchoneckDATE: March 9, 2004RE: Energy and Resource Conservation
It is the policy of the State of Colorado and our university that every employee is responsible for sensible control of our electric, gas and water utility consumption. While primacy focus of our energy and resource conservation program will be upon ensuring that our facilities are properly controlled outside of classroom hours, each of us will be expected to do our part to conserve. Simply put, if you need it, use it, otherwise make certain it is off.
Ms. Kelley Gonzales has been selected to serve as our Resource Conservation Specialist. Ms. Gonzales’ many responsibilities will include working with university employees at every level to establish a university wide culture of conservation intended to protect the comfort of the instructional day while minimizing utility related waste. She will be responsible for developing an accounting database that will allow each building’s progress to be accurately and fairly traced and reported. Finally, she will be performing building visits before, during and after class hours, intended to find opportunities for further savings and to document support for the program.
Savings from this program will largely be directed towards our building systems upgrades, but savings above and beyond the minimum goals will be available for use within our campus community. I want to personally encourage each of you to do your part to support this most worthwhile project.
