The Birthday Boy!

November is Rotary Foundation Month, The Rotary Foundation was born as an endowment fund in 1917, the brainchild of RI Presi-dent Arch C. Klumph. It was reborn 12 years later in the form we know today, The Rotary Foundation of Rotary international. However, it wouldn’t be until after the passing of Paul P. Harris in 1947 that TRF would reach the finan-cial health and world importance that it enjoys today.

Federalism! Federalism is a political concept in which a group of members are bound together by covenant with a governing representative head. The term "federalism" is also used to de-

s c r i b e a s y s t e m o f g o v e r n m e n t i n which sovereignty is constitutionally divided between a cen-tral governing authority and constituent political units. Fed-eralism is a system based upon democratic rules and insti-tutions in which the power to govern is shared between na-tional and provincial/state governments, creating what is often called a federation.(Wikipedia) Rotary Club of Makati Legazpi invited Rotaract Club of Makati Legaspi’s Officers and members to join their Weekly meeting at Midas Hotel, Roxas Boulevard where the Guest Speaker spent 40 years of his life as a Public Servant, a great Statesman and a vet-eran Legislator in his time, Sen. Nene Pimentel, now Pro-fessor Pimentel of the Pimentel Institute for Leadership and Governance at University of Makati. Atty. Pimentel talked about Federalism in which it is better to implement in our Country. In this event also was the Awarding of Presidential Citation given to Pres. Migs Bermido by Pres. Johnny Pe-cayo through his efforts given in providing manpower during the SLEX Tree Planting Project last October. This was at-tended by 9 Members of the Rotaract Club of Makati Legaspi

I was so glad when my President told me that I am one of the participants in Rotary Youth Leadership Awards 2012. I am so excited, for it is my first time to join the said event and it became more exciting when I saw some of my friends joining the event as well. Being part of the Violet-Respect Team is one thing I am proud of. For me, It is the best team ever, Each of us contributed time, effort and talent without any hesi-tation. We focus on the tasks and at the same time we enjoy. We won the “Best Cul-tural Presentation” and ranked as 2nd Place out of 9 teams.

Thank God for giving me courage and confidence all throughout the event. With that, I won as the Best Ate for RYLA 2012, all to the greatest glory of God. The refreshing venue, delicious food, inspiring talks, friendly people and challenging activities made RYLA 2012 an unforgettable Experience for each of us. Thank God for this one of a kind opportunity.

Afternoon session was about personality development and was given by Prof. Jennette Lozano, Participants were di-vided into nine groups represented by colors in which PDIR Janine for Violet and PBP Migs for White. Both were assigned by the Team members as Team Leaders.

First activity was the draw your symbol. Draw your symbol activity is about representing your characteristics through A Symbol. Second Activity was the Cotillion style where they have to form a circle and move around vice versa while answering the questions given by the Moderator to a partner. Third is the Tao Po, in which the lesson will be the providing the need of every person. Fourth is Follow the leader, trust is the main lesson for this.

After the Short Break, is the Amazing Race, which were facilitated by the Rotaract Club of Muntinlupa North. Each Team must perform the task given per station and must finish the race. These activities gave them more interaction thru sharing of Ideas and unity among members of the group. It will also build their self-confidence and self-esteem, developed leadership skills and brought closer bonding.
