STIRLING ENGINE

Page 3: projets finals

WHY STIRLING ENGINE?•Best teaching and learning for any engineering students device especially in the field of THERMAL ENGINEERING•An innovation with hundreds of application.•An innovation with a mission to save the earth.•Fuel independency.

PRINCIPAL

•A Stirling engine is a heat engine operating by cyclic compression and expansion of air or other gas, the working fluide, at different temperature levels such that there is a net conversion of heat energy to mechanical work.

HISTORY

•The Stirling engine was invented and patented by Robert Stirling in 1816•Here he decided to invent a new engine•His parish worked the steam engines

DESIGN OF STIRLING ENGINE

Page 9: projets finals

WORKING PRINCIPLE•One side of the engine is continuously heated•First, the air moves to the hot side, where it is heated and it expands pushing up on a piston•When the other side air is cool down and compress piston moves down wards side of the engine

WHAT IS NEED STIRLING ENGINE ?

•This compatibility with alternative and renewable energy sources has become increasingly significant as the price of conventional fuels rises, and also in light of concerns such as peak oil and climate change.

Page 12: projets finals

APPLICATIONS•Water pump stations•Combined heat and power plant•Solar power generation•Marine engines•Nuclear power

Page 13: projets finals

ADVANTAGES•Stirling engines can run directly on any available heat source, not just one produced by combustion, so they can run on heat from solar, geothermal, biological, nuclear sources or waste heat from industrial processes
