SUSTAINABILITY IS MORE THAN ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION.

Sustainability means conducting business fairly, with a sense of responsibility towards people and the environment. For Kärcher,

sustainability is a firmly anchored corporate goal, practised for decades: sound finances and appropriate earnings achieved in fair

dealings with others, along with the responsible use of resources.

The primary aim of Kärcher eco!efficiency is to reduce the consumption

of resources and energy with a cleaning performance that is tailored to

specific applications. In order to calculate the possible savings in energy

and CO₂ emissions over the service life of the machine and render them

comparable, these were calculated based on the example of our T 12/1

and T 12/1 eco!efficiency dry vacuum cleaners. TÜV SÜD Industrie Service

GmbH verified and confirmed the plausibility of the methodology for

calculating greenhouse gas emissions in the utilisation phase of the T 12/1

eco!efficiency against benchmarks. Based on this methodology, Kärcher

calculated that all T 12/1 eco!efficiency dry vacuum cleaners sold to

date will save around 6000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions throughout their

service life. All Kärcher eco!efficiency machines in total will save about

2,500,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

WATER – A VITAL ELEMENT OF ALL LIFE.

We need to drink 2 to 3 litres of water daily to remain active and healthy. Drinking water is the most important natural

resource of all. It is much too precious to be used for anything other than quenching thirst. This is why Kärcher has been

intensively active in the area of water treatment for over 20 years. It all started with systems for car wash stations and

manual high-pressure washes. Today, the WPC series stationary systems and the WPD series fully configurable mains-fed

water dispensers reflect the state of the art in drinking water systems.

Clean drinking water – whenever and wherever it is needed

Stationary treatment systems deliver drinking water independent of the mains

water supply. Kärcher WPC systems are ideal for treating all types of water,

whether for livestock breeding, holiday resorts, hotels, campsites, remote

settlements, islands, coastal areas or drilling platforms. Various WPC systems

(brackish water [BW] and salt water [SW]) are available depending on the type

of source water (brackish or sea water). The combination of membrane, media

and active carbon filters tailored to specific applications, as well as various

dosing stations, ensures strict compliance with drinking water regulations and

efficient and low-maintenance operation. Kärcher WPC combines advanced,

tried-and-tested technology and a high level of reliability with a professional

service ranging from raw water analysis, system planning and installation to

after sales service.

Kärcher water dispenser – water in a class of its own

Kärcher water dispensers turn normal tap water into healthy drinking

water. Connected directly to the public drinking water network, it offers

a constant supply of water of the highest quality due to its unique filter

and hygiene concept. Depending on the machine, there is a choice of

ambient, chilled, sparkling or hot water at the push of a button. Hygienic,

calorie-free and pure. This is achieved by automatic thermal disinfection,

a water dispensing valve with contact protection and innovative filter

concept consisting of Active-Pure filter and Hy-Protect filter. The Active-

Pure filter ensures that water tastes pure. The Hy-Protect filter works with

ultra filtration without the addition of chemicals. Its fine-pore membrane

reliably filters out bacteria and viruses.

Kärcher has been manufacturing mobile drinking water treatment systems

for over 25 years, for example for disaster relief organisations. The WPC

machine family is based on technologies that have been proven under the

harshest conditions. This ensures that the treated drinking water from these

highly reliable machines is always of the highest quality.

There is a shortage of fresh water in the world: in the world. Of the total amount of water available on earth, 2.6 % is fresh water and

only 0.3 % can be used. Water contamination and inadequate treatment affect the availability and quality of drinking water in various

regions of the world. In many countries, drinking water can often not be supplied at a high enough quality – even using central treat-
