1. The overall quality of many of our bridges leaves much to be desired. In spite of all
technological and scientific progress, especially the predominating medium size
bridges tend to be all alike: monotonous girders, rarely reflecting their natural or
urban environment. Structural designers must resume their cultural responsibility for
a creative conceptual design and apply all their knoledge and fantasy in adding
more variety to bridge design.

fter the grinding of a given section is completed, there ill be a minor but noticeable
taper don to the ground area from the unground roaday and then a taper back up
to the unground roaday. 4e do not anticipate a bump per se but motorists ill be
able to feel the transition. 4e have installed signs at the ork location at the
sidealk level to assist in informing the travelling public not to change lanes through
this area. Shortly after the asphalt is removed, the actual roaday reconstruction ill
occur at night ith similar lane diversions thru the construction area.
