The vital first steps travelled will lay the foundations for your child’s future. You will want your son or daughter to be happy and safe in a place where they will have a magical experience; where they are engaged, enthused and excited about coming to school. Just as importantly, you will want your child to be nurtured, to feel secure and to develop good learning habits.

He has grown academically and has maintained his polite manners. He’s in an environment now where he’s comfortable, and confident. They have brought the best out of him

Building Confidence for life

At Bishop’s Stortford College Pre-Prep the learning environment supports the children, provides encouragement in all their endeavours, gives them the confidence to make mistakes and learn from them and guides them to be independent in their thoughts and actions. They develop the understanding and compassion to form strong relationships, to become involved and to voice an opinion. We foster a healthy mind-set, one that encourages a sense of wonder. Your son might be asked to explain something to Successful Sid (the puppet who has terrible trouble learning) to test his understanding; your daughter might find a toy unicorn on her table, reminding her that imagination is one of the essential learning habits.

I hope you will come and see us to explore how Bishop’s Stortford College Pre-Prep could be the right place for your child’s educational journey to begin.

My daughter has utterly thrived on it, talks about everyone there and skips into school. She is being challenged academically and seems to enjoy every moment Parent of girl, Reception

I’m particularly impressed with the confidence building, because this is where everything starts Parent of boy, Reception

Building Confidence for life

Building blocks for successYour child is at the heart of our thinking and the curriculum. We are an enthusiastic and dedicated team who are committed to providing a happy, secure and motivating environment in which the children in our care enjoy their learning.

Your son or daughter will be learning in a purpose-built and stimulating facility nestled within extensive gently undulating banks of grass that lead to the enchanting Forest School site. Your child will benefit from the breadth of books within our library, an IT suite and Music room. Each classroom benefits from its own outside learning environment. We also share the many whole College amenities that will help your child become an independent learner and creative thinker.

‘It is essential that young children get frequent and regular opportunities to explore and learn in the outside environment and this should not be seen as an optional extra’ (Council for learning outside the classroom 2009).

The benefits of Forest SchoolRemember how exciting it was as a child when a lesson was outside? The way the senses were awakened, curiosity sparked and learning was fun?

Forest School engenders that feeling. Your child engages with the natural world where learning and play become intertwined. Children develop an understanding of, and a respect for, the natural environment, offering opportunities for physical activity, freedom and movement whilst promoting a sense of well-being.

I think they’ve made his transition very easy and manageable, and this is down to his teacher, the Head and all of the staff there Parent of boy, Reception

Forest School is exciting and I made a house for the fairies. We have fairy doors in our school Girl, Reception

What better way to kindle your child’s interest in the Sciences than by testing the slipperiness of a mud slide? At the same time he or she will learn to assess risk and develop skills to manage new situations. Your child will develop resilience, confidence and curiosity in equal measure.

Our son just loves it! Being there, going there, Forest School, everything! Parent of boy, Reception

He loves it there, he’s having a wonderful time. He is incredibly well looked after! Parent of boy, Reception
