Plastifloor resins are not as new as one might think. Since more than 50 years they are used throughout the world as industrial coating applications. But what exactly are they?

They are not Epoxy resins.

They are not Polyester resins.

They are not Polyurethane resins.


Plastifloor resins are Methylacrylate resins. (MMA)

What make Plastifloor resins so unique?

There are several unique features which distinguish Plasti-Chemie’s Plastifloorresins from the above mentioned common coating materials:


Their technical advantages fulfill the most demanding requirements of architects, plant engineers, applicators and building owners for industrial flooring applications, parking decks, bridges and ship decks. They are also used for private housing areas such as garages, pools, on terraces and balconies.


Advantages for Architects and Plant Engineers:

Plastifloor resins are variable, allow the installation of plain colored, decorative, smooth or textured surfaces, they are highly resilient, chemical and wear resistant. All coatings are formulated from the same resin family. Resins are available from flexible to very hard properties.


Plastifloor resins are quick curing (1-2 hours), even at low temperatures.Therefore it is possible to proceed installations or repairs in areas where only a short or no shut down time is possible.


Plastifloor resins open up possibilities for the installation in areas and under conditions under which other products failed to perform well, for instance freezers at temperatures below 0°F or in chemically loaded areas where strong acids and/or alkaline materials are in use.


The Plastifloor resin family also includes formulations for coatings in food processing areas which require USDA Approval.

They are hygienic and skid-proof.


Advantages for Contractors:

Plastifloor resins allow the formulation of fast installable, self-leveling mixtures that help to cut down on labor costs and reduce waiting time between the layers.


Plastifloor resins are low in viscosity and therefore used for the installation of trowel-on or rolled-on coatings. They can be thickened for application on vertical areas (walls and coves) or for the preparation of patching and jointing.


Plastifloor resins enable the applicator to diversify his activities by leaving the concrete or Epoxy sector in favor of more recession-proof specialty markets. This is due to the finished Plastifloorcoating’s chemical resistance, highly elastic features, resistance against cold temperatures and outdoor usability.

Plastifloor resins are available in a wide range of colored and/or textured finishes without sacrificing technical qualities for aesthetics.


Owners who choose Plastifloor resins do not have to finance long shut down times with idled production, high running fixed costs and the inconvenience of keeping impatient customers waiting for the resumption of service. The jobs can be done over night or over the weekend.
