伝習から、発信へ。大阪大学大学院医学系研究科・医学部は、かつて緒方洪庵が大阪に開いた「適塾」の自由な学問的気質や先見性を

精神的な柱として受け継ぎ、様々な名称に変化しながら、日本の、そして世界の医学医療の発展と社会貢献に努めてきました。

これからも世界の医学界のリーダー的役割を担い、常に新しい医学を発信します。

1838年に緒方洪庵が現在の大阪に開設した蘭学塾。西洋の進んだ医学、病理学などの学問を教える一方、当時流行したコレラなどの感染症の治療指針を示すなど医療の普及と向上に努めた。医師であり優れた教育者でもあった洪庵の下で学んだ塾生は、のちに明治の近代化の原動力となった。長与専斎や福沢諭吉など多くの逸材を輩出した。

Tekijuku was a school of Western science through the Dutch language founded in Osaka in 1838 by OGATA Koan. While teaching advanced Western subjects such as medicine and pathology, it also strived to promote and improve medicine through means including publishing guidelines for treatment of infectious diseases such as cholera, which was prevalent at the time. Students who studied under Koan, who was both a doctor and an outstanding educator, later served as a driving force behind Japan’s modernizat ion during the Meij i Per iod. Tekijuku graduated numerous exceptional talents including NAGAYO Sensai and FUKUZAWA Yukichi.

適塾＜史跡・重要文化財 Historical landmark & important cultural asset ＞Tekijuku

緒方洪庵は幕末の蘭方医として、また蘭学の教育者として第一人者と仰がれた。最新の医療の知識を紹介するため多くの蘭書を翻訳する一方、自らも多くの著書を残している。そんな中で洪庵にとって「扶氏経験遺訓」（30巻）の翻訳は終生の出版大事業であった。これはドイツの医師フーフェランドの内科医としての50年の経験をまとめた書で、その蘭語訳書を日本語に重訳したものであり、日本の内科学の発展に大きな貢献を果たした。

OGATA Koan was revered during the closing days of the Tokugawa Shogunate as a leading Western-style doctor and educator on Western science through the Dutch language. Together with translating numerous Western works in order to introduce the latest medical knowledge to Japan, he also authored a number of works himself. Of these, the publication of his translation of Enchiridion medicum, or, the practice of medicine (30 volumes) was his life’s work. This was a secondhand translation into Japanese of the Dutch translation of German doctor Christoph Wilhelm Hufeland’s summation of his 50 years of experience as a physician. It contributed greatly to the advancement of internal medicine in Japan.

緒方洪庵 OGATA Koan

痘苗がわが国へもたらされた1849年に大阪道修町で医師日野葛民、大和屋喜兵衛らと共に洪庵が設立した天然痘予防の普及活動の拠点。ここを拠点にイギリスのジェンナーによって1796年に開発された牛痘種痘事業を始めました。（1870年種痘館に改称）

除痘館

Koan established this facility together with doctors HINO Katsumin and YAMATOYA Kihei, among others, in Osaka’s Doshomachi in 1849, when smallpox was introduced to Japan, as a base for promoting natural prevention of smallpox. Use in Japan of the cowpox vaccine, developed in 1796 by the English doctor Edward Jenner, began at this facility (renamed Shutokan in 1870).

　新型コロナ感染症の拡大に伴い、社会構造は大きく変革しつつあります。このような未曾有の危機に際しては、素早く行動し、その結果を評価し、微調整しながら次の行動に移っていくことが求められます。指示を待っているだけでは大きな変革に対応できません。もし指示が必要だとしても、どのような方針の指示が必要なのか、指示を出す側と十分に双方向的な協議を経ることが重要です。大阪大学は帝国大学の中では唯一、100%民間の力で設立された経緯があり、活力をもって医学部をはじめとした部局、そして大学本部が互いに情報交換、意見交換をしながら一丸となり、この未曾有の危機に立ち向かっています。

　感染症により社会構造が大きく変革しつつある時代ですが、医療の世界でも、これまでと比較して想像もできないスピードで変革が起きています。治療法の変革はもちろんのこと、様々なイノベーションが医療に応用されています。大阪大学の大きな特徴の一つはイノベーションの創出です。イノベーションはやろうと思ってやれるものではなく、日々の研究の積み重ねに、様々な観点からの批判や応援があってはじめて実現するものです。新たなイノベーションの端緒となるのは、ほんの些細な情報と情報のリンクであることが多いです。互いの情報を持ち寄って討論できる場や、そこへ行けば何らかの活力が得られるような場の創出が重要です。そして何よりも大切なことは、日々の研究、特に医療変革につながるようなヒトを対象としたtransformativeな研究、社会や医療に実装できる研究を続けていく環境です。医学系研究科は多くの専門分野の集合体であり、専門性と多様性が特長です。この特長を活かしながら、活力あるtransformativeな研究を行うこと、そしてそれを実現する人材を育成することが、新興感染症の拡大というこの未曾有の危機を乗り越えた新たな次元を切り拓く医学部、医学研究科に必要だと感じています。

Social structure is now greatly changing through the pandemic of COVID-19 infection. In such an unprecedented crisis, we need to act quickly, evaluate the results, fine-tune and move on to the next action. Waiting for instructions alone will not be enough for a major change. Even if instructions are required, it is important to have sufficient two-way discussion with the issuer of what kind of policy instructions are required. Osaka University was the only university in Imperial University that was established with 100% private vital power. Depar tments such as the Facult y of Medicine and the University Headquarters have joined together while exchanging information and opinions with vitality, and are confronting this unprecedented crisis.

Although the social structure is undergoing major changes due to COVID-19 pandemic, changes are occurring in the medical world at an unimaginable pace compared to the past. Medical evolution is seen in the trends for innovative changes not only in treatment methods but also in the appl ic at ion of a var iet y of di f ferent innovations in medical practice. One of the distinctive advantages of fered by Osaka University is the capacity to create innovation. Innovation cannot be achieved instantaneously upon the wish to accept such chal lenges — innovat ion c an only es sent ia l l y be achieved through the accumulation of consistent research efforts and frank discussions from multifaceted perspectives. Innovation of ten originates from the links between simply unappreciated information. Osaka University will strive to create a place where individuals can share dif fering opinions in open discussions and where some activities for innovation are available to the public. Of paramount impor tance is the creation of an environment that allows for the continuation of daily research projects, particularly transformative human research leading to medical innovations and research that can be implemented in society and medical practice. The Graduate School of Medicine is an ensemble of expertise that offers the advantage of specialties and diversity. By capitalizing on this advantage, we are committed to contributing our best efforts to allow ac tive transformative research and to promote human resources that can achieve the research goals. These ef for ts will lead to open up a new dimension overcoming this unprecedented crisis of the spread of emerging infectious diseases.

医学部医学科では、グローバルな視点を持ち、新たな医学、医療を創造する医師、研究者を養成することを教育の柱にしています。

学部では、平成２８年度より医学英語を導入し、海外留学も推奨しています。また、MD研究者育成プログラムにより、研究マインド

を持ち、将来基礎医学の領域で世界的に活躍できる人材の養成も行っています。修士課程では、未来臨床科学コースを開設し、

公衆衛生学コースの改革を進めています。また、バイオインフォマティクス、スポーツ医学、医学統計、医学倫理など、キャリアパス

の明確な教育を行っています。修士課程修了時には修士（医科学または公衆衛生学）の学位が授与されます。博士課程では、世界

の医学研究や医療の発展に貢献するリーダーと成り得る人材の養成を行っております。

To educate global perspectives to our undergraduate students, we have started medical English courses and encour-aged them to participate in studying abroad. The Medical Doctor Scientist Program is designed to educate students with skills and knowledge necessary for basic medical researchers. For master course students, we have also started a new Clinical Science Course and redesigned our Public Health Course so that students gain a strong background for careers in bioinformatics, sports medicine, medical statistics, medical ethics, etc. Graduates will earn a master's degree in medi-cal science or public health. In the doctor course, we aim to train world leaders for medical research and patient care.

高度な研究設備の効果的な学内共同利用を目的に設立されており、教員および技術職員を配置し、研究の技術的支援、学生教育の支援を積極的に行っています。また、ゲノム編集を利用した動物作製、セルソーティング、マイクロチップ電気泳動、電顕試料作製などの様々な受託サービスも行っています。The Center for Medical Research and Education was established to support collabora-tive use of advanced equipment for medical science. Academic and technical staff members proactively provide technical support for research and student education. A variety of analyzing services are also provided, for example, creation of genetically modified animals using genome editing, cell sorting, microchip electrophoresis, and sample preparation for electron microscopy.

1 Center for Medical Research and Education共同研究実習センター

国際的な実験動物使用指針に準拠した管理運営を行っています。ゲノム編集による遺伝子組み換え動物の作出、様々な疾患モデル動物の飼育、疾病の病態解明や難病の治療法開発などの先進的医学研究支援を行っています。

This Institute manages animal experimentation in compliance with international guidelines on use of lab animals. It supports advanced medical research in areas including generation of genetically modified animals through genome editing, breeding a wide range of disease model animals, and elucidation of the mechanism and development of the therapeutic strategy for intractable disieases.

4 Institute of Experimental Animal Sciences動物実験施設

ツインリサーチセンターは双生児研究を専門的に実施する研究機関として、２００９年に日本で初めて設置されました。国内研究施設との共同研究、海外の主要な双生児研究機関との連携により、遺伝因子、環境要因の厳密な解明を通して未来の健康科学への寄与を目指しています。また、教育学・行動学・心理学・社会科学など学術領域を超えた先端的研究により健やかな「こころ，あたま，からだ」創出研究の共創を目標としています。This Twin Research Center is the first research institute in Japan specialized in twin research that is established in 2009.With collaborative research with domestic research facilities and major overseas twin research institutes, it aims to contribute to future health sciences through rigorous elucida-tion of genetic factors and environmental factors. We conduct “Co-creation” of healthy

“Heart, Mind, Body” innovative research by multidisciplinary approaches, in collaboration with study of education, behavioral science, psychology, and social sciences.

Equipped with a cyclotron, radiotracer synthesis equipment, a facility for raising animals, and animal Positron Emission Tomography (PET) cameras, this Center is capable of imaging of molecular behavior inside the living bodies of disease model animals and genetically modified animals and analyzing medical conditions at a molecular level. It also researches basic molecular imaging technologies such as those used in pharmacokinetics of candidate compounds in new drug develop-ment and pharmacometerics.

サイクロトロン、標識合成装置、動物飼養室、動物用PETカメラが整備され、疾患モデル動物や遺伝子組換え動物の生体内での分子の挙動を画像化し、分子レベルの病態を解析することができます。また、創薬候補化合物の薬物動態、薬効評価等の分子イメージングの基盤技術の研究を行っています。

6 The Center of Medical Innovation and Translational Research (CoMIT)最先端医療イノベーションセンター

This is an R&D facility based on industry-academy-government alliance aiming to develop advanced medical technologies and innovative new medicines through the fusing of research from across differing fields. The primary research fields of the CoMIT are immunology and regenerative medicine, in which Osaka University has played a leading role, and the integration of these two fields. This center aims to promote open innovation and accelerate industrialization of research results while deepening cooperation with diverse companies and institutions both on and off campus.

大阪大学が世界をリードしてきた免疫学・再生医療分野を中心に、異分野研究の融合を図ることで、先進的な医療技術や革新的な新薬の開発を目指す産学官連携の研究開発拠点です。学内外の多様な機関、企業との連携を深化させながら、オープンイノベーションを推進し、研究成果の産業化を加速させることを目的としています。

麻酔学講座を設置

大阪大学細胞工学センターを設置

バイオメディカル教育研究センター及び共同研究実習センターを設置

府立大阪病院と改称し、教授局を分離して府立大阪医学校と称した

府立大阪病院を廃し、府立大阪医学校を大阪医学校と改称して教授部と病院を置いた

大阪府立医学校を大阪府立高等医学校と改称し、予科を併設

卒業生に大阪高等医学校医学士の称号を付与することが認可された

上本町大福寺に政府直轄の仮病院を設置
