**I write this issue’s Rave and Review from a regional flight from Cincinnati to Charles-ton where the creative juices have started to pour. Not only am I wowed by the shortest taxi of my life for a major international airport but i’m wowed by what OnQ Carolina is delivering. In a lot of ways this flight and this issue are alike because of the journey it takes me on.

Neither this flight nor the issue went exactly as planned. Both started out with some bumps and the journey may not have been as smooth as one would hope. The point is however, than no matter how bumpy the trip, we still make it to our destination. OnQ Carolina has arrived after a long trip since our first electronic issue in Septem-ber 2008.

Today my friends, OnQ’s made it to print.

I have to say that a lot has been learned while pushing back our first print date. I personally had the opportunity to meet with many bar owners, managers, entertainers, and of course our read-ers. In the past 2 months I have clocked over 5,000 miles on my Volkswagen to put a smiling face and a thankful handshake on OnQ Carolina at our bars and clubs all over the Carolinas. The goal and the result is that more everyday OnQ Carolina has grown from just that four sides of a magazine. It’s now personal. It’s meaningful.

Also over the past few months the trends and stan-dards that I introduced to through OnQ has found its way imitated in other publications with no affili-ation to us. That imitation, in my opinion, is the big-gest compliment that our competitors (or anyone) can give. By mirroring OnQ Carolina’s initiatives simply shows that we as a publication are ahead of the curve and are doing something right. But far be it for OnQ Carolina to stop with our current stan-dard. I am pushing my own ethics and creativity even higher and you will see that result in the next

few pages. Ready to drop your jaw.... again?

Speaking of the next FEW pages, you will see that our inaugural print edition is smaller; Only 16 pag-es. I am eliminating the fluff and highlighting our core content, layout, and the OnQ way of doing things. This is being done because I dearly want you to see what’s important and I ENCOURAGE YOU TO WRITE ME with your opinions. From layout to articles, colors to paper type, I WANT YOUR opin-ion. OnQ Carolina may be my baby but I want it to be part of you family as well.

It is so imperative that I say welcome (with much excitement and gratefulness) to two people who are now part of the OnQ Carolina team. One is a legend and the other is a legend in the making.

Next we have a dear friend of mine, Matt Culber-son. You may already know him as Mr.Gay.com Boy Next Door 2008 but now you can really get an inside look to who he is in this issue of OnQt. Oh, and of course, Matt is now taking over as Feature Columnist for each OnQt from now on. So all you Carolina cuties, WATCH OUT, Matt is on the prowl for you!

Also, and just as important, I need to say thank you to Carol, better known as DJ Middleground. Not only is she involved strongly in Central North Car-olina, but she is now our Feature Columist for DJ Play. You will now enjoy her talent in print as well as through the speakers at area events.

ground of the music industry, Naomi, Lesley, Sarah and Binkie are ready for their spotlight. These four divas make up the Pop/R&B super group known as Electrik Red (recently signed to Def Jam Records). With a few singles already leaked to the internet these ladies are generating a quite a buzz.

Electrik Red’s debut album “How To Be A Lady VOL.1” is scheduled to hit stores May 26th. The al-bum was produced entirely by Terius “The-Dream” Nash and Tricky Stewart the men behind Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”, Mary J. Blige’s “Just Fine” and Ri-hanna’s “Umbrella”.

Electrik Red’s first single “So Good” is a warm sum-mertime fling anthem perfect for those days by the pool. The second single “Drink In My Cup” is more of a dark sexy groove already receiving some serious play on the club scene. Their third single “Friend Lover” is my personal favorite with its care-free swagger and feel good vibe.

I’m Matt, 21 years old, and a boy next door type of guy (with a wild side). I have to say that when asked to write about myself in the past I would say “I’m an aver-age guy who likes average guy things”. Now I know that is far, FAR from the truth. I’m not average at all! I’m fabulous! Don’t think that I am stuck up because I believe every guy and gal has something fabulous about themselves. You simply have to embrace what-ever that something is and flaunt it!

I was born and raised in Lawrenceville, GA making me a true Southerner. For those of you that don’t know where this wonderfully small-ish town is, just look at me sandwiched between Atlanta and South Carolina and you’ll find it off the highway. It is certainly not a place I’d like to live in now that I have a social life, but it was the best place to grow up. Currently I reside much closer to Atlanta (the city I adore) with my boyfriend (the man I adore).

In 2008 I entered the Mr. Gay.com 2008 contest. I didn’t win over all, but I did win my particular category which was Boy Next Door. Fitting right? I met some amazing people at the finals including OnQ Carolina’s own Ex-ecutive Editor.Shout out to Jamie!

I’m rather new to the gay community and fully enjoy the clubs that were off limits to me before. I’m trying to meet and greet as many people in my first legal year as I possibly can. Do I have a certain type of bar or hangout spot? No not really. I do however prefer a club with dancing. I absolutely LOVE dancing. I can shake it with the best of them!

Being in Georgia my entire life I know how hot the Southern guys are! I’m excited and ready to search the Carolinas, scour the forums, bars, friend’s lists, and websites to find the cutest Carolinaians for OnQt!
