HARI OM
September was a busy month with all the annual
festivities including Ganesh Chathurti and Navratri. On
Sep 12th
, a well known classical singer from India Sri
Shashidhar Kote visited the Balaji Temple. He has won
many awards like ‘Gana Gandharva’, ‘Gana Garudiga’
and many others also known as Junior Jesudas. He
started the evening with Ganapathi Stotras and sang
many songs on Lord Venkateswara. He admired Swamiji
for his Sadhana and dedication to the Temple. Swamiji
thanked Mr. Kote for performing at the temple. The
temple celebrated Navaratri from September 19th, 2009
through September 28th, 2009. Narayana Swamiji started with
the Kalasha Puja, invocation of Goddess Mahakali,
MahaLakshmi and Saraswati, invocation of Navaharna
Mantra. Many devotees joined daily in chanting Lalitha
Sahastranama stotram, Mahalakshmi Astakam, Mahishasur
Mardini, Saraswati, Annapurna stotram and Devi stuthi.
Kumari ka puja was performed daily by devotees who
sponsored the puja and got the blessings from the Goddess
Mother. The Goddess was offered Abhishekam, Pulangi Seva,
Sakhambari Alankaram, Vastra Alankara and Silver Alakara
daily. On Astami, September 26, students of a local music
school headed by Mrs. Vasanthi performed Carnatic Music in
praise of the Goddess Mother. Chandi Homam was performed
on Vijayadasmi day. Aksharabhyasam was also organized for
kids who are just starting to read and write. In the evening,
Sumangali Puja was performed honoring all the married
women who offer their unselfish love to their husbands, kids
and the entire family without expecting any thing in return. N.
Swamiji expressed regarding the celebration of Navaratri. The
first three days are celebrated in praise of Mahakali, the next
three days are in honor of Mahalakshmi and the last three days
are celebrated in praise of Saraswati. The three Goddess
signify the entire universe with their Shakti/Power, Wealth
and Knowledge. They depict the three Vedas; Rigveda,
Yajurveda and Samveda. They indicate three gunas ;
Rajoguna, Tamoguna and Satvaguna. On Vijayadasmi day,
Rama conquered Ravana and liberated Mother Sita from his
exile. He returned back to Ayodhaya and people also celebrate
his return from exile on this day. In Mahabharata, Arjuna also
got Shakti or Power through the preachings of Sri Krishna and
helped him conquer victory over the Kauravas. Balaji temple
witnessed nine days of celebration with hundreds of devotees
participating and seeking the blessings of Goddess Mother.
Please join us for celebrating the upcoming Guruvandana
program from Oct 29, 2009 to Nov 1, 2009.
